I loved everything about this game! It's clear that this developer listens to people's preferences. The HOS and also the mini-games had a match-3 option. This is the first time I actually enjoyed the HOS. Each HOS was unique. FINALLY! They were all interesting and not just another jumble of things to look through.
most of the mini-games have the option to play easy or hard. I played hard, and I found it to be only somewhat challenging. At least they aren't insulting our intelligence by making us match shapes like kindergarteners. There were a lot of mini games which is a big plus for me. The story was very interesting and kept me going. I regret not buying the CE.
The only thing I found missing is a diary/journal. I like having a record of the story as I go along.
It's best to play this game with the sound turned off. It's extremely annoying. And I'm not one to usually notice music and sounds one way or another. For example, instead of a bird chirping every few seconds there was this annoying crowing repeatedly, they don't bother putting in a space in between the crowing. (the same exact sound on repeat)
gameplay was extremely easy even if I chose the hardest difficulty. I suppose the game is meant for kids, or people who don't like to think.
I do love the cassettes and the journal. I love when games have a full journal that you can look back at.
My review is based on the 1 hour demo only. I'm glad I tried before buying. I won't be buying this.
The story sounded amazing in the beginning, but I lost interest pretty quickly. I usually love any fantasy story, but this was boring. I played this hoping it would end already. (I only played until the end because I don't like leaving things unfinished).
If you do decide to buy this game, you must buy the CE because the standard game ends very abruptly and it's a terrible ending. The CE continues the story to actually end well. All the other CEs that I played had a second story that was related, but not essential to the main story. Here, the developers were too lazy to come up with another story so they simply removed the ending from the standard version and put it in the CE. This made me change my rating from the 3 stars that I would have given it, to 1 star.
This game has a fascinating storyline that kept me going. It wasn't challenging enough and it had way too many hidden object scenes for my liking. But I might play it again just for the story.
I found the game to be way too easy. Perfect for pre-teens. My 9 year old was able to complete the game by herself. Despite being too easy, the storyline was interesting enough to keep me going.
Everyone is frightened by the sights and sounds of something large stumbling through the darkness. Can you solve the mystery before the monster adds another chapter to this legend?
I wish all the other point and click games would be this good. this game makes you think. it's not like all the other games where they hold your hand the whole time and you could pretty much turn your brain off and enjoy the story. In the Nancy Drew games you do actual detective work. You need to put the pieces together on your own.
-The story was terrible. I figured out who the murderer was right away. -I played on the hardest level, and there was nothing at all challenging. Some of the puzzles were OK, but others were on a Kindergarten level. Everything you need to figure out is pretty obvious and there's no thinking involved. - My 7 year old and my 9 year old loved the game, which is why I gave it 3 stars.
