In a fading world devoid of color, the ghost of Nikola Tesla reaches through the Ether and invites you on an incredible adventure through time and space.
I'm a bit of a fan of Tesla and that's why I bought the game. There's puzzley game play, which is well paced, a smattering of HOS and lots of mini games. I liked the graphics, environmental sounds, voice overs and storyline. There's a fair bit of time travelling and machine tinkering going on here, so if you like that kind of thing you might like this.
It was great seeing the old characters from the circus and they kept very closely to the original artwork regarding them. Unfortunately, I found the game play very repetitive. You woud have to keep finding film reels to play, which I understood, as it can help tell the story and set a good pace. It didn't end there however, you have to do the same puzzles over and over and it felt like groundhog day. I'm not talking about mini puzzles or mini games but rather the puzzles in the game play. There are hardly any HOS either and fans of the early games in the series tend to like lots of HOS and challenging HOS at that. The actual mini puzzles were good though. I liked the ending too.
Well, okay, it's not really an evil game but it isn't a good game. I played it a year ago and I was actually dreading playing it again, so that I could do a review this time round. I got so much further last time, about three quarters of the way through. I got stuck even earlier this time. I've forgotten what I did to get out of it. Good graphics, there's humour there, it doesn't hold your hand, makes you think outside the box and I was excited when I first began to play it. After a while though, it just stops being fun.
Another shortish game but it is atmospheric, fun, spooky and quirky. There are cute little Dracula's to find in each scene, which is a nice little side task/challenge, in an otherwise basic HOG with mini puzzles.
This is the same style, graphics, sound effects and gameplay as Park Rangers. It's like a Halloween Park Rangers, without the Park Rangers. There are golden pumpkins to find in each scene and there are objects to find as a side task. There are also trophies to get and money to collect, to buy souveniers from the shop. It's mostly hidden object scenes with mini games, which have a two minute skip button. It's also very nicely spooky.
This is an old school HOG with old school spookiness. It's mostly hidden object scenes with unlimited quick charging hints and some easy mini games with a quick rechargeable skip. The sound effects are great, if a little cheesy at times, but there's some kind of wild animal growl in there that gets me everytime and makes my skin crawl. The game's a little short, but very relaxing. There are candy canes to collect and treats to get and tricks that pounce on you from dark doorways. A very fun game.
A mysterious fortune teller has foreseen her demise at midnight this very day. Can you find the soul who seeks to kill Madame Fate? You be the detective.
This is quirky, fun and atmospheric, with hidden object scenes with moving parts! (i.e I really like the T.V in the clown's caravan). The objects are extremely well hidden at times. You only get two options, a long timed option and a short timed option. There are only five hints per level. So that, and the time limit, and the sometimes difficult to find objects, make it quite challenging. I like the graphics and the design of this game. The sound effects are good too. There are skips on mini games right up until the end. There were lots of word games which I liked. At the end though, there's a kind of boss puzzle that won't let you skip, yet has five useless hints. Overall, I feel that you do get your moneys worth on this one, but only if you like challenging hidden object scene after challenging hidden object scene and nothing else!
This is a sort of sequel to Huntsville, with similar graphics and sound and certainly a few of the hidden objects from Hunstsville sneaked their way into this one. It's challenging because there are only four hints in each chapter and each chapter consists of several hidden object scenes. Also there is no skip on the mini game at the end of each chapter. They mixed it up a bit here by having either jigsaws, match-a-pair, or wordsearch as their mini games. It's just not easy to find those objects sometimes and I had to rerun a couple of chapters. In each level, you will return to play the same scenes again and again, to find different objects. The best thing about the scenes, is the quirky dark humour. There are so many subtle and not so subtle visual comedy moments, which make it a classic in my eyes.
One of the very first HOG's I ever played. There is so much nostalgia in this game, from the charming old school atmosphere, sound and graphics, to the quirky humour and sometimes difficult to find hidden objects! I like the cartoon style of the criminals. For a basic HOG, this game is exciting and challenging and is a far cry from the dumbed down HOG's of today. For starters, each chapter of HOS is timed and there are only three hints allowed for the whole chapter. There is also a timer at the jigsaw type puzzle at the end of each chapter but that time is left over from the HOS, so you do have your work cut out! There is also no skip button for that, so if you work well under pressure...
