I tried this game, but couldn't get past the first HOS. The items in the mirror were so tiny, a magnifying glass would be needed to spot them. After that, I was through.
Two reasons why this game gets two stars. First reason, Ms. Holmes rolls up on her motor bike and alas, her wallet is locked and three missing pieces open it. Riddle me this? How did the missing wallet pieces get behind the gate of the mansion when she just arrived?
Second reason--Ms. Holmes, who is supposed to be as smart as Sherlock Holmes, ties her luggage onto her motor bike with a rope. Alas, she cannot open it because she didn't bring any type of instrument to cut the rope.
I tried to play on, but once I found the amulet to open the gate to the mansion and saw all of the items scattered around the yard and missing letters in the fountain or tree, I was through. I could tell this was going to be a game of hide and go seek items to open a zillion locks, wallets and doors in which I use once, discard and then have to find several items of the same type throughout the game. No mystery here, just mind numbing busy work.
Downloaded and deleted! Geez, the tediousness in the first 3 minutes of the game had me rolling my eyes, for real. From the "help me find my glasses" HOS, to the five thousand steps needed to buy 2 tickets, to the next five thousand steps needed to hand the tickets to the waitress, I was through. The entire storyline gets lost due to useless, redundant game play and mind-bending minutiae, because you have to click on twenty objects just to perform one thing--such as open an envelope.
And throw away the key. I tried playing the Collection Edition, because it was free, but I could not get through it. What a jumbled, blubbering mess. I played the first Ravenheart game and that game was a ground breaker and innovative. This game is a copy cat, redundant, play-by-play of the tiresome, HOG's that have been presented of late. The HOS have no rhyme or reason, just a bunch of junk clustered on top of each other just for the hack of it. The storyline is cartoonish and disconnected, which is why they threw in these tedious side games of 'pick the trolls' and 'build the mansion' to distract your mind from the disjointedness of the game. What happened to MCF? Why would they turn a celebrated game like Ravenhearst into a mishmash of crap,
I appreciate the intricate game play. Though this is a hidden object game, it plays more like an adventure game, because the HOS are seamlessly fused into the game. The Lost Lands games create story lines that have depth and interest; and the games are fun and challenging to play, with side characters and dialog that are interesting but don't interrupt the game play.
I wanted to like this game, but I couldn't get past the beginning of the game. When I choose to customize the game and it asks me if I want the Tasks revealed and I choose NO, then why does the game tell me the task after the first cut scene? That means throughout the entire game I'm going to be told what to do, and maybe, just maybe, I don't want that; which is why I chose NO.

What a disappointment. I am so tired of these pink, blue and purple cotton candy colored games. How is a game suppose to be scary with My Little Pony colors.
I have to agree with the previous review, the eeriness, and fear factor have been sucked out of this game, leaving a blase and prosaic atmosphere of color overload in its place. I don't care how many skeletons and werewolves appear in a game, if they are wearing pink ribbons and are shrouded in neon blue and purple, the fright is non-existent and makes for a laughable childish atmosphere.
Maybe I should become a game developer and put the fright back in the darkness.
This game is full of useless junk, as are many of the games out today, that have nothing to do with the story line--from decorating wreaths to bailing water out of a boat, to boring, long, drawn out mini games. The story line is boring and full of things to get, mix and assemble. No fear factor here, just a host of useless stuff to do, over and over again. OH, and let's not forget this is a Collector's Edition, so find the 35 scorpions that are blended into the scenery. Ugh! Really! The boredom is real. I'll pass on this one.
If you like games with realism and not the purple and pink fairy tale garbage that pollutes a myriad of games that are available, then this is the game. Though there are some fairytale aspects to the game the realism manages to shine through-no bling, ching or bells and whistles, just a story line and a game.
