The graphics were very good. The story line & game play were cohesive, but, for me, I would have liked to see more HOS, (this listed as a HOS game).
As to the other puzzles, there were no instructions on what you are supposed to do. I ended up clicking on hint several times when I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do
Started the bonus game, but just quit, the non-HOS games were just too annoying.
I haven't finished this game, but thought I might add a word of warning. This game may not be for everyone.
I'm finding the game a little disturbing, & somewhat more gruesome than expected.
If you are okay with shows like "Criminal Minds", then you will have no problem playing this game.
The Story Line - A family moves into a house where a Serial Killer has murdered 11 people. The killer starts off with abducting the children - he then tells the Mother that she must find 11 Keys (1 for each victim). He warns her that if she fails he will kill the entire family.
- Not sure how this fits in with how he justifies killing his prior victims. The Socio-Path's method of murdering each of his victims is unsettling to say the least.
The Story Line reminds me a little of the movie "Se7en" , with Morgan Freeman, Brad Pitt, & Kevin Spacey. Two detectives are hunting a serial killer, who kills people guilty of committing one of the '7 Deadly Sins' I only gave the Fun Factor 4 stars - while I am enjoying the game, not sure Fun is appropriate.
Since this is supposed to be a HOG, I expected to find more HOS's. The ones there were seemed, to me, much too easy.
There were a lot of other games, but I am not a fan of some.
There was a lot of going back & forth from one room to another, then back again.
The one thing I didn't like was the number of "Plus" items. It seemed as if about 3/4 of the items I found required 2-3 or more parts.
The game, story-line, graphics etc. are 'OK', just not as good as I expected.
I have bought many games in the past just because they are an "Elephant Game", & will continue to do, but for me this one was a bit of a let down.
I recommend this game!

Love this game. Been playing for a year, & keep on playing. Of course I like most of the Elephant Games - they have some very talented developers working hard to creating wonderfully entertaining games. I will say Midnight Castle does start out slowly, & if you are one of those impatient people, this game is not for you. While the game is free, you may decide to spend a little cash, like I did, but it might have been better if I hadn't. There are a certain number of HOS - there are 22 in the Castle itself, 22 in the Town, 6 in the Elvyn Forest, 14 in Cloud City + over 40 others in various areas. While the each HOS has the same items, they will display as originally seen, in Mirror Mode, or in Night mode. Currently there are 80 levels , but the Elephant Games folks keep working, developing new levels & HOS In addition to the all the Hidden Object Scenes are: * There are over 50 Achievements - some reward you with Gems, & some reward you with an Avatar * Morphing flowers to collect - these will give you coins * Pets * Furniture to buy for your private rooms (Home, Christmas, & Spring rooms), * Character quests * Daily quests * Jigsaw Puzzles. You collect the pieces from the HOS you complete. Then you have all the pieces & put the pieces together you get the chance to win a couple of Inventory items. You can do each puzzle once every 4 hours. * Friends to give & receive Gifts of needed inventory items * Frequent Castle Challenges to keep you interested these last 30 days. Each day you are given a new challenge, if you complete the first 10 challenges in 10 days, you receive a new Avatar. For completing challenges #11-20 on time, you receive a second Avatar, then again if you complete challenges # 21-30 by the end of the challenge you will receive the 3rd Avatar. You must complete each challenge before moving on to the next one. We all look forward to the Seasonal Events - Currently there are 3 - Fall/Halloween, Winter/Christmas, & Spring/Easter. For Halloween - there are ghosts to catch, Pets to create. The Castle is decorated appropriately with pumpkins, etc. Give it a try. What do you have to lose? The cost is Free.

I have bought & played all the other Parables games. So, when this was released, I had to buy it. I finally got to play the game tonight. Unfortunately it was a big let down. I am a big fan of Eipix Entertainment, & the artwork & graphics were excellent as always. Unfortunately, it’s hard to stay interested in a game when there is no continuity to the story line. It was so, as another reviewer said, choppy, & disconnected. In the other “Parable” games we had Fairy Tale characters - Cinderella, Snow Queen, Briar Rose, Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, Goldilocks, Swan Princess, Little Mermaid, etc.
In this game there are no fairy tale characters! What were they thinking? How can you have a “Parables” game with no Fairy Tale character?? !!
I quit playing after a coupe of hours. It was just plain tedious. The other “Parable” games had me up half the night, & when I got up in the morning, you could be sure I was playing again with my morning tea. They were addictive!
Not sure I will bother to finish this game, there’s just no real excitement, or enjoyment in playing. There comes a time when a game series just has to end. I do wish it weren’t so.
If you haven't played the other Parable games, you may like this game. If you have, then I don't recommend this game. I think you will be let down.
I don't recommend this game.

EIPIX games are usually great. I have frequently purchased a game just because it is EIPIX. The puzzles, story line, graphics, etc. were great as expected, & based on these criteria I would have given the game 5 stars but, for me: * There was too much chatter - There is no way to stop the characters from talking, you just have to wait until for them to finish. No play action until they are done. * Also, I thought there were too many cut scenes, & there is no way you can stop/skip, them, so your game play is basically paused until they are done. If these things don't bother you, then I think you will really enjoy this game.
I recommend this game!

Enjoyed the other 'Surface'' games, which is why I purchased this one. Unfortunately I found this game a little too easy. I am not all that proficient in playing these games but finished this one in only a few hours.
