Boring, unoriginal, short, unchallenging... can you tell I am really disappointed?? I've never given a game one star before. I thought the first Donna Brave was really good and bought this one untried - lucky it was during a sale!! Should have read the reviews... The ending was abrupt and weird - clearly designed to go straight into the extra chapter in the CE, which is totally unfair. They even spelt 'Donna' wrong in the dialogue, that is how much effort was put into it. Please don't do any more in this series if you're not going to bother to do it properly - don't treat us like idiots. If you can't present a complete SE game then don't bother.
And that's about the only good thing I can say about this one - the story was unoriginal, the puzzles are either stupidly easy or have instructions that make absolutely no sense, and the HOPs are, well, simply boring. I have been begging for a MCF not connected to Ravenhearst and was so happy to finally see one. Now I'm glad I waited and bought this on special. Oh, Mystery Case Files, how the mighty have fallen...
I don't recommend this game.

This was an ok game, there was plenty in it and it went for a reasonably long time with several locations, but the puzzles were all really easy and the design a bit basic (although I don't know how old it is, so that might just be the technology). And I'm really not sure about all the "vampire legend" and "untold story" stuff, though - it was just a basic missing girl mystery that implied that there might be something like that going on, but, well, hardly at all. I bought this as the weekly special and I'm glad I didn't pay any more for it. For an easy, long(ish) game, it's ok, but if you want vampires or amazing stories, this is not either...
I don't recommend this game.

I'd never heard of this one, but I bought it as the cheapie of the week to try something different. And boy, what a surprise it was! Some very weird mind came up with this one - you never know what you're going to come across next! And just when you think it's over it completely changes - it's almost two games in one. The puzzles are really interesting and there is just about every style of HOS I've ever seen in here. Definitely better than you think it is going to be. I'm going to have to hunt down the others in the series now...
What an absolute disappointment!! I spent most of the game thinking what a great game this was and how interesting it was getting when all of a sudden it played half a cut scene and was over!! What the...? What about this question...? And this person...? So glad I didn't pay full price - it's only half a game.
Wow, that was a let down... way too easy and really short. And the story was simply dull. Apart from Elf, this could have been any old game - what happened to the Mystery Trackers magic? I really loved the first few games, when they had that special element that made them different - sadly the last few have been quite ordinary and this is the worst of the lot - and it's (lack of) length makes it seem all the more disappointing... :(
I had heard some bad reviews about this one, so was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. Although it did feel a little short, but that's not the worse that can happen, I guess. This is nowhere near the classic Mystery Trackers fare, but definitely tonnes better than the last one, Winterpoint!! If you hated that one (like me), give this a go, it will restore your faith, a little.
At last a MCF game that isn't Ravenhearst or the Dalimars, but, well, a mad scientist trying to beat death, missing children and a huge labyrinth of a house... it may as well be. After so much anticipation, I actually found this rather boring - a lot of same old same old. Very glad I used a voucher to buy it. Even the graphics were rather dodgy - sometimes it looks like it was made ten years ago. It saddens me to have to say all this, I was so looking forward to a renewed MCF, sadly this is not it...
Why is it called "The Gift of the Magi'?? There is nothing whatsoever remotely connected to that name - very misleading. As a game it is fine, the usual Christmas fare, and pleasant enough to play, but it was not what I expected.

I really love Redemption Cemetery, and have played them all in order - I count the original one amongst my favourite games - this one was such a disappointment after all the others. It was, frankly, boring. I had absolutely no interest in saving any of those people, the games were simple and there was hardly any HOS. I struggled to finish this, but hoped that it would improve by the end. Sadly, it didn't. If you loved the others, don't ruin their legacy by playing this one...
