Great looking and feeling game. The mini games were fresh feeling but some instructions were confusing.
I found a lot of actions just magic and had all but no logic behind how they worked. The usual back and forth, sometimes back two or three screens to get some item became pretty tedious.
Then the game ended without what seemed like enough time to develop the story thorough enough.
I don't recommend the game if you like ones that make sense.
The play jumps right in without slow training levels. Most of the levels really are a mind exercise unlike so much repetitious clicking in way too many games. The mix of challenges is well planned, and I like that so many levels are action with an opposing bunch of nasty characters, but no one type of play extends for more than just a few levels. The idea of building a village is ho-hum but at least there are benefits to it. Having a complex scheme of ways to grow in strength over play time is a really good addition to keeping interest. All in all, a serious step up in overall game quality.
I do keep hearing "Well Done" though... [Those who played earlier versions will know well what I mean.]
Stands out among mosaic games just as the previous Rainbows. The complexity is great. I find myself losing concentration and making some silly mistake that could have been avoided. I redo any level that includes a mistake and sometimes it takes me several tries to get away from making the same mistake each time many minutes into the level. Having to do that for several levels is one of my gauges of a sufficiently difficult game. The penguins have been much too easy lately.
Lots of levels with lots of play. I get my money;'s worth for sure.
I have only one complaint. Sometimes the marked off numbers are hidden to a quick glance within a dark background.
Way too simple for anyone but a beginner. Most levels are pretty small grids, and other than maybe a handful, there was really no challenge, just fill them in without needing any thought..
The colors are crisp. Except for a few with black gradient backgrounds, the numbers stand out, but their font is not the best. Play is very smooth. The sound is best left silent.
SpelunKing has taken the simple match 3 game and built an incredibly complex and challenging game, probably the single best match 3 today in my opinion, and I've played a lot of them. Strategy and tactics are both in play all the time with a challenge to keep moving and keep the mine visible in addition to collecting all sorts of items to trade. Nothing is too obvious, with a little challenge everywhere one turns, like narrow passages, clever cave puzzles to be solved before leaving a level, and lots of different items. This is not a game for the easily frustrated...
As always, the play in Fantasy Mosaics is very good, with the exception of marking blank spaces that does not allow retracing like marking does. The graphics are sharp although the colors are so-so, and the different tiles are very good. For some reason though, the puzzles this time don't really have any challenge. It is a disappointment in the series. It would be a good introduction to the game for someone new, but the recent ones are much more logic exercises than this one.
Play is fast, noisy, busy... everything that I could want in a twist on match-3. A great variety of twists - match 4, pre-grouped matches, even anti-gravity. The skulls are back. Some levels get pretty busy. Some of the battles (1 out of 10 levels) are pretty tough and there is a new twist there also.
All in all, a great addition to the series with even more variations and good ones.
The only minor negative is the story line and dialog is a little long and childish.
Everything about this game is excellent. The puzzles are fresh and not impossible to solve but some require a lot of thought. The HOP's are done very well with much more than just lists of items to find, and with superb graphics to hide items in plain sight. The story is well done. I am not one to write down needs, so I used hints here and there to go back to fill in actions, but very few. All in all, a really superior game. Congrats to the developers!
I saw the fine reviews and what a disappointment. There is no logic to what is supposed to be done. I can't imagine going through without using constant hints. The puzzles are pretty good, but nothing I haven't seen in many other forms for a long time. The few HOP's are not bad, but also nothing special. All it all, it seems somehow crude and clumsy compared to many other games.

Everything has come together to produce an utterly addicting elegant game. The play is simple in detail but fascinatingly strategic with a strong puzzle flavor. The implementation is just perfect in smooth and fast response, vivid colors, wonderful whimsical characters, and superb sound effects through my subwoofer and powered audio equipment. The storyline is fresh and imaginative and probably the very best I've encountered for match 3 that doesn't usually lend itself to a clever storyline that actually fits the play. Overall, my absolute favorite game that has consumed many hours filled with real enjoyment. Oh, and nothing is timed, so there is plenty of time to work on strategy.
