The worst game I have ever tried out. Looks like it was written by a couple of 15 year olds with not a brain between them. Don't know where to start. The graphics are dreadful .... The main characters are two sisters who were found abandoned and know nothing about their past. Except that they know who their Uncle is and it goes downhill from there. Apparently they come from the sticks of England Really! and they need to go to the Inverness Moorland (Inverness is in Scotland) it takes many days to get there by train.... If you are going to set a tale in a specific country do some basic research.
navigating the scenes is miserable, if you don't hit exactly the right spot you can take ages to find anything. I discovered that you have to keep going back to the diary to find out what you have found. eg I clicked on a portrait, it showed a picture of a man but nothing else. Found out it was their uncle who she knew had been dead a long time but only after reading it in the diary. The conversations are bizarre, poor English and entirely implausible. I have been playing BFG for over ten years and this is so bad i can't believe it. HOPs are ugly and boring. You can't lock the objects list, and it takes quite a bit of getting out of. I exited the game and it just went back to the start again. I would give minus stars. I have never failed to finish a game I have started, I'm not even going to finish the demo
I don't recommend this game.

The graphics are great. That's as good as it gets. I don't know where to start There is no exploring an area to discover things, you can't go back and forth on a map. Everything is a cut scene where you are given a specific thing to do. The "heroine" of the story will tell you what that is: Oh no! I have to open the door! then a banner is displayed at the bottom of this scene saying "open the door" or whatever. Each scene is either a hidden object, a puzzle, a find the difference or similar. You are ordered to go to each specific place in a specific order. No exploring the scene, no collecting items and working out what to do with them, you don't need hints you just do as you are directed. Boring Boring Boring. I struggled to get to the end of the trial. A real disappointment as I have just finishes "bonfire stories - Heartless" which was among the best I have played..
I don't recommend this game.

started out ok but needed to use the hint button more than usual. The map was a joke, no using it to re visit places It just showed where you were (well I know that!) but not where much else was. hint says "go to the front of the hotel" but I never did find out how to get there . I could see it but not access it. Gave up so deleted it......
I don't recommend this game.

Painfully slow story, so full of holes it is laughable. some of the puzzles are just childish and the others incomprehensible. one scenario has you finding a white cloth, finding some red berries, finding a knife, chopping up the red berries, finding a pot, finding a jug, finding water so you can fill the jug with water, taking the jug to the pot, filling the pot with water from the jug, finding a lighter, using the lighter to light the wood under the pot, boiling the white cloth in the water so it turns red, going to a clearing in the village where there is a bull, hanging the red rag on the tree so the bull will charge the tree knocking to the ground so you can pick it up. Exciting stuff! takes forever, so either the story goes on for hours while you take baby steps to get anywhere or there's not much of a story to it and your time is filled with trivia. even on easy level skips take over a minute to charge. it's too boring even for kids. total waste of time and money.
I don't recommend this game.

I like match 3 games and strategy games. this one is a mix of both. Good graphics and sound and very interesting concept. Unfortunately it has a timer and very very poor tutorial.
You need to fill up orbs with different coloured magic before the timer runs out for you to complete the level. the tiles you get to do this come in sets of from 1 to 4 and are a mix of colours and shapes. the tile sets can be rotated to fit them into available spaces. matching 3 starts to fill up the orbs with the colour you match. matching 4 puts a random spell on one of the remaining tiles on the board. matching this spell tile sets off the spell destroying or changing tiles and so filling up the orbs quicker. as the orbs fill up you can use some of the stored magic to access a separete spell amulet which gives 4 other spells, not always available for each level. Great up till now. Needs a bit of strategy and planning to succeed. This is for me, where it fell apart. there is a time limit, varies a bit from level to level but about 5 minutes.
Unfortunately it gave very little time for any planning and some of the game layouts do need some thinking about. for me the time limit is way too low, perhaps I am not a quick thinker but it would have been much better to have had one version with either no timer to give the careful thinkers time to plan and enjoy or a much longer timer. keep the current timing for those with fast reflexes and more people could enjoy it.
Also there should be a bit more info in the tutorials particularly when playing levels using "black Runes". I simply cannot understand the logic of how this works and there is not a full explanation in the tutorials. I get the impression that the designers want to defeat the players, rather than challenge them.
There are some untimed options but they are very cut down versions of the main game, with no spells to use and other options limited and i didn't find these particularly interesting.
I liked the "jigsaws" they were easy but made a nice change of pace.
This could have been so good - the strategy element was great but doing it in such a rush totally spoiled it for me
recommended for those with quick minds but not for the careful planners

This game is too slow and simple for anyone but a new player or child. The graphics are Ok and I liked some of the music but it was very repetative. There were some ocasions when the game almost played itself. There are power-ups/tokend to collect that when used would clear a whole row or column etc. and in some games they come thick and fast. on one occasion I was busy collecting these to make space on the small board when I was informed the level had been completed even though I had made no matches. As I was removing the tokens the board was filling up and making it's own matches until the level was complete!
The boards were pretty much the same each time and were very small. often there would be no further matches and I had to wait several seconds till the game caught up and told me there were no more matches, very slow.
It claims to give 80 levels but it did not seem that way to me, I got through it in no time.
A very good idea that was poorly executed. If you want decent match three the Jewel Match series is a lot better
I don't recommend this game.

I have played most of this series and have enjoyed them all so far. I got this one with high expectations but have been greatly disappointed by it.
the storyline has been done to death - a wicked character has condemned the world to eternal winter, you have been discovered as "the child of spring" and only you can save the world. (yawn) Not very original and not very inspiring. The game itself is very simplistic. Each scene has about 2 things to do in it and everything is very obvious. The mini games are easy as are the HOPs. The final scene was so easy I couldn't believe it. It is probably best suited to new players and children. The graphics aren't bad, I can't even remember what the music was like it made so little impression (but at least it can't have been annoying!) I always play in custom mode but with mainly casual settings. I don't think though that even on the harder settings it would have been much better as the underlying story and actions were so poor. And why did the young female character have to keep feeding the authoritative male characters? these were pretty poor quests.
overall very little to recomend it . I am giving three stars as it may suit children more.
I don't recommend this game.

I thoroughly enjoyed this game. Graphics, music and lip syncing were excellent. Not many HOPs but a LOT of mini games. Occasionally they were too close together and i was ready for a break from them. I had to skip 2 -3 of them as i just could not complete them but the majority were fine.
It was quite a long game, for me anyway, I did not play the CE version as i rarely find them worth the extra cost.
The reason i have not given 5 stars is because I found the storyline confusing. I still dont know who was behind it all and why. Perhaps I am just slow on the uptake. I was also confused by the sudden and abrupt ending which was the real spoiler for me. I do hate games that just seem to stop abruptly. this series is bad for that. I have recently played "the Colour of Fear" in this series and that had the same unsatisfactory conclusion. A great pity the developers don't spend a bit more time to give a clear conclusion to thier games.
However I did enjoy the gameplay and definately recommend it
I recommend this game!

This is the third in this series for me. I nearly didn't bother with it as I thought a game about fairies would be a bit silly and girly. I had so enjoyed the othere i had played though, so I thought I'd give it a go.
I'm not going to say too much about it but the story was good the graphics superb (spend a little time looking round each scene at all the little things going on in the background) and the music was stunning and I normally hate the background music in games and turn it right down. This time, when I reached the end I went to the extras and played the music for pleasure!
Quite grown up and very entertaining, and a decent ending too - can't ask for more.
I recommend this game!

Wasn't too sure about this when I tried it out. The storyline graphics and characters seemed too cartoon like and rather childish. But I had a free coupon and used it on this. I'm glad I did. It seems a very simple game at the start and the rules can be picked up in a couple of minutes. The first rounds were easy, then got more difficult. The easy ones could be completed in a couple of minutes but I took up to 45 minutes each for some of them and quite a few had to be reset and re started.
Most of the game is in adventure mode where have to complete several rounds to finish the level. Each level is slightly different, with it's own chalenges. At the end of each leve lyou get to fight a "boss" which for most of the levels is not that hard. There is also "Colosseum" mode where you can fight the level boss again and some are a bit more difficult in this mode but still not hard. I only failed one boss level in the entire game and I'm not much of a strategist.
There is a practise mode that I have not bothered with.
A slight downside is that special powers take a lot of points to aquire. You get points at the end of each game depending on how fast you completed it and the speed needed to get points is not adjusted for the difficulty of the level. So the easy ones at the start give 300 points for speed and points are easy to aquire. The difficult ones later where I took longer would only give 10 points because they took much longer to complete. And you need a minimum of 700 points for the simplest (and fairly useless) power up. So you can go and re fight the bosses and collect points that way but you need to be completing a round in about 2-3 minutes to get 300 points which id difficult. This bit could have been better balanced.
I liked the ending it completed the game nicely and has a surprise in store (well to me at least!)
If you like to have to think about what you are doing and take a bit of time, I 'm sure you will enjoy this game.
I recommend this game!
