It's been a while since I played any Puzzle Adventure HO Games - I am glad I played this at our neighbor's house, this game is breathtakingly beautiful! It has many interesting characters but I am not going to spoil it here - and it's like reading a real novel, it is a continuation of the previous Dana Knightstone series and I am glad they kept the love and mystery in this new piece - I am happy to see the ghost dog in Cape Porto! Dana is gaining more supernatural abilities - I wonder if the next series will tell us more about Dana's background or her family?
It's so beautiful... the autumn scenes, I have just completed Austrian Sonata and it was winter over there, and it feels like time has passed and now I am in the autumn season! The scenes are amazing and looks sharp!
I feel so glad to have the chance to play this - this feels like a good break from the fantasy and fairy tale HOPAs that I am slowly getting tired of... of course Dana Knightstone series has ghosts, but there isn't any magical occurences that are very predictable, or things that uses "magic power" to solve.
Adventure wise, I think Austrian Sonata is more exciting... but there are more story and side story in Cape Porto, it really feels like a novel. I like the little town of Porto! About the puzzles... I think some are some good and difficult puzzles, slightly repetitive, the HO scenes are a mix of complicated and average HOs. The voice acting are good too!
I actually think that the concept is really really interesting! The 3D art is something new to me, and the somewhat medieval setting is very cool for the plot too! But I only played the trial... it is sad that I still have 15 minutes left to play but the free chapter is up...
Good points that I really love - the setting, the background, the story and the voice actors are great! And also the option to read what the main character is asking feels like an RPG!
I almost gave it a 3 star because... I don't really enjoy the text that shows up when you click on items... It's pretty awkward, or maybe I have a bad sense of humor. The visuals aren't very helpful without sparkles. But I gave it a 4 star because I like the story...
This game makes me feel like I am like a modern version of Indiana Jones! No treasure but I am finding out the truth - Dana is on a real adventure - there are bad guys out there, but I am not afraid. I love the story and the pacing, and of course the charming man I met too during Dana's journey. There's a plot twist and I enjoyed the modern day setting. The dress up with a disguise subgame put a smile on my face :)
Just like Vanishing Hitchhiker, I love how I have many rooms to walk around and explore at the beginning! The colors and art is amazing, I totally fall in love with its colors and a big environment. And it is indeed creepy at times (statue that bleeds or cry!) , but I think it's still enjoyable, and I like how I wasn't being "told" by NPC to do what next, but I have freedom in walking around in the mansion and checking things out and what happened to the ghost and the family who lived there.
It's great to see this game is so loved by a lot of players, but I think maybe I have expected it differently.
I think the story is too strange for my liking... but I want to mention that I enjoyed the HO scenes very much, they are very interesting and fun. I also enjoyed looking for the morphing collectibles and the roses.
If you like fantasy stories that has a mixed setting (fairytale, modern etc) then you will probably like this one more than I do.
I recommend this game!

Antique Road Trip: American Dreamin'
You are an antiques expert placed in charge of a small town antique shop. Play colorful hidden object scenes and fun minigames to make your business a success!
I thought the UI was a bit confusing at first, but as I play I slowly figured out what each button does, and there are actually a lot of things to do (even after your energy runs out). This game got me hooked!
Well I am not sure what adding friends does yet, but what I like about the HO scenes is that even though there are the same scene, it adds more items (and different mode) each time you play, so it becomes more challenging yet you feel similar because there are already some items which you know where they are, I keep trying my best to get the "Quick Find" bonus!
It may not be for everyone - because it has a demonic/satanic theme, like demon posession and HOs that involves creepy cursing items, eg. voodoo, skulls etc.
But I don't particularly mind about these themes, and I enjoyed much on the music and sound where at certain parts it's not just repetitive looping music, but has some shrieks or whispers which really adds to the dark atmosphere.
This game is really fun and exciting, time just flew by when I was playing it!
There are a lot of good things to say about this game, I enjoy looking for the collectibles (I missed some), great art, nice animation... and the thing I enjoyed most is the story, it's very interesting!
I played Rite of Passage: Child of the Forest before The Perfect Show, so I would say there are some things that didn't surprise me as much as it did in Child of the Forest. There were similarities in the gameplay in both titles, I expected more variety.
But despite my personal opinion, this is still a good game to get, I enjoyed the game and really like the beautiful street art and the paper folding part.
