For all of you nay sayers I get what you are saying but for what seems like forever I have been "self isolating" at home and looking for just a little escape. Is it the best game ever? No. Is it the most challenging game ever? No. But for a couple of hours I go on a little fantasy journey and forget all the the reality of life.

What a charming, charming game. A perfect game for mom dad and the kids or grandparents and grand children. the characters are enchanting. Even the bad guys are not so villainous. Nary a witch, monster or nightmare inducing crazed serial killer in sight. I am sure there are those who think the game is too simplistic, but for them ther is a game this week that carries a warning of intense thriller for mature players only. Graphics are beautiful, voice overs charming and engaging. Puzzles are complex enough for adults while some are kid friendly. This one is definitely going to near the tom of my all time favorites list.
Another entry to the Dead Reckoning series. In this one we are entering the wonderful realm of magic and magicians. Is this a epic mind blowing game - no. Will this game challenge those expert players who play on hard core - no. But for us casual players who like a break from all the psycological, spooky, core filled games it is like a breath of fresh air. No special amulets or cutesy helpers. There is not a witch, monster or crazed serial killer in sight!
I love this series for the vibrant graphics with an almost Art Deco feel. Voice overs are good. Puzzles are generally fairly easy and HOP are varied. For my two cents if you want a calm, relaxed Sunday afternoon this game is for you.
When a famous shapeshifting alchemist is charged with looking into the murder of the king's most trusted agent and friend, the last thing she expects to discover is an intricate network of shadowy criminals, intent on bringing chaos to the land.
What a wonderful charming game!! I beta tested this game and knew it would be a definite buy for me when it was released. Other reviewers have explained the premise of the story at length. so I will spare you the details. It was like a breath of fresh air after so many blood, gore, and psychologically disturbing games lately. Here is one that you can play with your children or grandchildren and neither one of you will have nightmares. There are subtle nods to well known tales such as Little Red Riding Hood and Robin Hood. Graphics are bright colorful and almost Disney-like. Voice overs good. HOP are varied and puzzles relatively easy. This is not a game for those hardcore gamers but you do get a choice of levels so you can make it as challenging as you want.
Anyone who is a fan of the old game of clue will love this game. The night of a Mystery party the host turns up dead. You the detective must discover whodunit. Gather the suspects and review the clues. Was it the unscrupulous business partner, the son, the whacky mentalist, the pampered and spoiled daughter, or the butler. Graphics are great especially for anyone who is a lover of the art deco era which I am. Voice overs well done. HOS are varied and some refreshingly different. Puzzles range from easy to challenging Music is a bit of a disappointment considering this is the era of the great jazz bands. There is a interactive map but doing and froing is minimal considering some other games. There are taro cards and masks to collect as well as morphing items Once again it is nice to have a game with no monster, ghouls, or the occult. A great game for all you Miss Marple or Hercule Poroit wannabe's
Your grandfather has just been murdered by a Molotov cocktail thrown through his window. Why? You and your husband go to the funeral and low and behold someone tries to kill you both as well. Then you discover your grandmother had an affair. Mon dieu ! What next. The story is as improbable as sre most soap operas but don't try to over think it. Graphics are clear. HOS's varied. Puzzles range from fairly easy to challenging, some could have been more clearly explained. There is a interactive map. Toing and froing is fairly minimal. It is nice to have a game that is set in a relatively modern setting - very nostalgic for those of us that remember cassette tapes and VHR tapes. There are different difficulty levels offered so you can make it as easy or as challenging as you want. Play this game for the sheer entertainment of it, with no spooky ghosts, goblins, witches or monsters.
I recommend this game!

Dark Tales™: Edgar Allan Poe's The Mystery of Marie Roget Collector's Edition
A newlywed is threatened, and supernatural forces are afoot!
I have purchased all the Dark Tales Edgar Allen Poe games and think this is the best one yet. Who is the real Marie Forget? Graphics were excellent. Voice overs, while Americanized, one would expect the Inspector to have a French accent, n'est pas, were good. Puzzles and HOS's were varied and some contained puzzles within puzzles. While usually I would take a couple of days to complete a game, this one was so compelling I finished both the main game and the bonus chapter in one very cold February afternoon.
I won't rehash the plot as it has been described by other reviewers. Finally we have another game that is free of witches, monsters, all things occult and creepy. Just a good old detective game. Characters are actual people and voice overs appropriate to the locale. Good variety of HOS and puzzles range from fairly easy, to I'll admit, I did hit the skip button. It is not the most challenging game I have played by was a wonderful way to spend a snowy Saturday afternoon. A worthy addition to the "Off the Record" franchise.
Elephant games have just raised the bar for other developers of hidden object games! New and innovative HOP scenes. While this is a addition to the Gray family series, it brings new elements to both challenge and excite the seasoned player. Excellent graphics, music is subtle and unobtrusive. Voice overs on cut scenes appropriate to the characters. Interactive map lets you go from one scene to another. I played the CE but hardly used the Strategy Guide. Puzzles range from fairly easy to, I'll admit I used the skip button. If I had any complaint at all it would be that sometimes your mouse has to be in exactly the right position to collect an item.
Review is based on playing SE addition Really loved this game! It is colorful with an wonderful storyline of an Mexican legend about a women married to a cheating husband who runs off with another woman taking his children with him. She in total desolation walks into the river. Then returns to take the village children. A yearly festival takes place each year to please the ghost from taking the children but still they disappear. You are a reporter trying to prove or disprove the legend. Graphics are vibrant and voice overs very good on cut scenes. A nice change from the dark and gloomy games. You do get a map that lets you teleport from one scene to another. Hint button when you are stuck is helpful. Three options for play mode. HOS scenes are fairly easy and interactive with some having mini puzzles within them. Other mini puzzles range from fairly easy to difficult and I did skip on a few. Good game for a beginner at casual level or a more experienced player in the harder modes.
