I was very happy to come across a free to play farming game as I very much like the genre of farm games with a few glaring exceptions. However, I got no instructions of any kind. How do you start a game without telling the player anything? It's just ignorant! I just began to blunder my way through planting some crops after having cleared all the plots of weeds. I tried to figure out what to do with the chicken coop but am not sure I did it correctly. It offers to sell you stuff from jump before you even have a chance to get a handle on game play and whatnot. I'm probably just going to delete the game and be sad over it for a short while. As I said, I'd been pretty happy about a new farming game.
I don't recommend this game.

I'm a big fan of the Cake Mania series, so I was really excited that many of her past cohorts would be joining in the fun in this edition. I was really looking forward to the various types of shops, but that soon turned to regret. I don't really care for the hamburger or sushi shop game play, and I find the price of TV sets in those two locations completely OUTLANDISH! For those who aren't aware, selecting the correct TV channel for the current customer not only increases their # of hearts but also causes their order to instantly appear instead of having a long wait while they decide. This is very important for my style of play. During the bakery levels, for instance, the TV allows me to serve customers so quickly that I can easily get double the amount of income required to reach the "Super Star" goal. The level one TV in the bakery and flower shop is $76 compared to several hundred in the other two. The cost to upgrade the TV is even more drastically different! Level 2 is $600 instead of $150 and 3 is $1,400 instead of either $200 or $250! The cookie (or cupcake) oven's price is also drastically different. The burger & sushi places also have a finite number of customers where the cake & flower shops will receive additional customers if you play using the TV to speed things along.
I really like being able to move equipment around in the cake and flower shops, which you can't do in the other two. Once I'd bought all the milkshake recipes, I'd be trying to rush to place an ingredient on multiple trays and accidentally click the very edge of the chocolate syrup bottle. Speaking of placing on multiple trays, there is a bonus in both the burger and sushi shops for doing the same action four times in a row. As you can only have four customers at once, this is not an easy bonus to score and barely worth the effort since it only gives you either two of three dollars. Talk about stingy! I have to admit that I've never finished the game because I get annoyed and start over.
Lastly, not long after purchasing the game, it would occasionally freeze up. I'd be forced to do control-alt-delete in order to open the task manager. It was the only way to shut it down. The longer I've had the game, the more often this happens. It's why I've only now broken down and written a review. I was just trying to play only to have it freeze three times in less than fifteen minutes! I don't even bother waiting for it to check for a solution anymore. It never does anything.
Hope this helps someone out there.
P.S. While my favorite is listed as Avernum 4, it's actually their remakes of the first few games I'm hooked on. God I wish Big Fish would get the rest of the series!!!
I don't recommend this game.

So very ADDICTED to this game! My normal routine is to play a few levels of a game then switch to another game & so on, but I've found myself playing this game for a couple of hours at a time! Love having two game modes - story line and quick play with easy, med. & hard as well as beat the clock & clear jar choices. GREAT GAME! Want more like it!
I recommend this game!

I fell in love with this game many years ago when it was new and love it even more now that it is impossible to find inlay games. This is a thinking person's game as opposed to Tetris, which is more of a keep your speed up game. As for the person who said you are forced to mess up, all you have to do is exit and restart the level to get perfect on the level. The game has a small star that will appear on the "playing field" that, if you place a game piece on said star, you are shown where to place several upcoming pieces.
If you like games that make you think, then give this one a try!
I recommend this game!
