This is the second Margrave game I've played. While the gameplay in this is more simplistic than The Blacksmith's Daughter, the story more than makes up for it. Most of the cut scenes are done with still pictures and dialog which takes a little getting used to. The HOS screens were difficult for me, as some items were very hard to see. The graphics were whimsical and pleasing. There are a lot of items to find in this game but clues are presented in a variety of clever ways. I liked that HOS activities were balanced with other types of puzzles. Where this game really shines is in the story of Margrave investigating the death of her parents. There are poignant scenes that drew me in emotionally (something that does not usually happen while gaming). In the end, I cared about the outcome and the characters.
I recommend this game!

I enjoyed this game from the opening scene. It has all of the elements of a great gaming experience - nice visuals, quality voice-overs, good animation, an endearing story, and characters you care about. The story unfolds, over time, with a mix of past and present. The puzzles are fairly easy and the HOS screens can be bypassed with a round of mahjong. I was sorry to see this game end. I played the standard edition because I tend not to replay games and do not want to invest in the CE version. I am sorry to see that the next installement by this developer is only available in CD.
This is an adventure game with scattered HOS screens that are not very difficult and a LOT of 'find and use.' You spend most of your time moving between locations to find parts of objects and different keys. So, the entire environment becomes a HOS. Puzzles were very easy with the biggest challenge in figuring out which tool to use where #most are obvious but some are not#. Music and sound effects were good but I really disliked the voice acting. The graphics were well done but not nearly as dazzling as some of the other Big Fish games I've played recently. And, I am neutral on the story - seemed like more of the same saving a town from evil. I'd still recommend the game if you are looking to relax with an easy, quick adventure.
Witches Prison is a step back into classic adventure gaming. There are a number of puzzles and 'find and use' challenges but no HOS screens #which for me, is a plus!#. Puzzles are varied with clues that make sense. Cut scenes are still drawings with written dialog, which gives the game a low tech feel. The story made sense until the very end and I am still not sure what was resolved in the final scene #other than you survive!#. The game could have been improved if instructions were provided for the puzzles. A number of times, I did not know how to interact with the puzzle interface and the hint button provides spoilers, not operating directions! This is the first Big Fish game that did not run seamlessly for me. I have an older PC with Vista and the game would slow terribly when puzzle windows were open. Seemed like a memory issue because it resolved by closing the detail window and reopening it. Having said all this, I would still highly recommend this for an adventure gamer looking for a reasonable challenge.
This game is a nice mix of puzzles, hidden object, and 'find and use' adventure. It has a unique twist on the 'rescue and escape' theme, as it takes place in a magical village of cyclops. The story is good and the scenery is dazzling. This is a relaxing game with fairly easy puzzles and HOS screens that do not make you go blind. You have several helpers who join you along the way and hints are freely available. The character cut scenes are a bit strange, with still pictures and dialog. The voices used #especially for the main character# are very child-like and would be better suited for a 'My Little Pony' video. I solved this by turning the sound off. Overall, a delightful game - I will definitely try another Margrave adventure!
This is one of the best games I have played on Big Fish. The story is not unique (you save the world) but the graphics and music are very well done and the game play is outstanding. There are a minimal number of hidden object search screens and a lot of 'find and use' tasks. Intermittent cut scenes keep the story moving. The mechanical puzzles are varied - some easy and some difficult. It is a big game that will hold your attention.
I love classic adventure games. This is a hybrid - although there are no 'junk piles' to sort through, you are tasked with finding '10 of this' and '12 of that' so you end up doing the same pixel scanning that would be required in a traditional HOS. Multiple gameplay levels are available and there is a variety of challenging puzzles - besides the standard 'find and use' errands, there are multiple mechanical puzzles that require a good bit of thought. Generally, a decent story with nice music, although I was a bit let down by what seemed like a rushed ending. Overall, this is a good entertainment value.

This game has all the elements I look for ... interesting story, good sound, beautiful graphics, puzzle logic/variety. The HOS screens can be skipped by playing a game of MahJong which provided a nice diversion. The HOS screens were also dynamic which made them more interesting. This is a large game, with a number of locations that wil keep you playing for quite some time. While presenting some challenges, it is not terribly difficult for anyone with basic puzzle experience. A map is provided which can be used to navigate without trekking back and forth between locations. I was sorry to see this one end, as it has good entertainment value!
Syberia remains one of my favorite adventures. It is a beautiful, compelling adventure with characters that you will care about. It is a 'find and use' game #no hidden objects!# that requires thoughtful exploration and many conversations.... not a game for the impatient. My only complaint is that the original game has been broken into three games that are sold separately. The set of three is a must play for anyone who loves a classic adventure!
This was my first Haunted Legends game and I sincerely enjoyed it. Many of the HOS were interactive, which I really liked. There is a good storyline that takes you through a variety of environments with a large number of 'find and use' puzzles. You will find yourself traversing back and forth between areas as clues/tasks are revealed. The graphics and sound were just what we've come to expect from ERS - excellent. This is a big game which takes time to play and is well worth the purchase price. However,it does not present much of a challenge. The tasks are given with clues and the puzzles are VERY easy to solve if you have any level of gaming expertise. However, easy is not always bad and it is an entertaining adventure!
