The development team at 4 Friends Games did a decent job with their brand new installment in the dazzling Living Legends series! Anna Dupre and Jannet Carrel are childhood best friends and they look forward to their annual reunion at the Crystal Kingdom. But this year’s reunion is a special one, as Prince Nicholas plans to propose to Anna. Unbeknownst to them, this also triggers the Fairy Godmother’s forbidden magic and turns them into crystals. Can Jannet save her best friend from this dark curse in Living Legends: The Crystal Tear???
Just like the incredibly popular Dark Parables series, the Living Legends series also has a knack for twisting well-known fairy tales into fresh thrilling storylines IMHO. This eighth installment gives a new spin to the timeless classic that is Cinderella. Although the game reuses some familiar HOPA story tropes, its rich characters and strong backstory elevate it above the standard.
This is also helped by the game’s fantastic visuals. All the scenes are flawlessly drawn, colored, and animated – making them so captivating that they are hard to look away from. The game perfectly captures the core enchanting spirit of fairy tales through its visuals, along with its equally-magical musical scores and sound effects without being repetitive.
Fans of 4 Friends Games will also be delighted to find that the developer’s proven creativity is put to good use in Living Legends: The Crystal Tear. While none of the gameplay elements are truly revolutionary, the imaginative hidden object scenes and puzzles are enough to engage and entertain long-time HOPA fans. The game also includes a talking clock gadget named Celeste, which tells you a piece of the backstory every time you offer it a crystal tear. This is, to be real, a little creepy and unnecessary, but at least it is not as annoying as some of those other gadgets that come with repetitive mini-games.
Living Legends: The Crystal Tear has a fair length which I completed in roughly four hours, with an additional hour for the bonus chapter. The Collector’s Edition(which is what I purchased) is packed with extra bling, including a strategy guide, wallpapers, screensavers, concept art, soundtracks, videos, re-playable hidden object scenes, re-playable mini-games, achievements, collectibles, and morphing objects.
I really enjoyed this latest endeavor by 4 Friends and perhaps you will too. Cheers!
Also in this Series:
•Living Legends: Ice Rose
•Living Legends: Frozen Beauty
•Living Legends: Wrath of the Beast
•Living Legends: Bound by Wishes
•Living Legends: Beasts of Bremen
•Living Legends: Uninvited Guests
•Living Legends: Fallen Sky
I recommend this game!

This is edition is another epic Mystery Case Files adventure! In this twentieth installment of the iconic Hidden Object series from Big Fish Games and Eipix Entertainment, you are tasked to investigate an urgent call from the infamous Manchester Asylum for the mentally insane. A mysterious patient from room 11 suddenly begins drawing a black crown on the wall and speaks for the first time since she joined the asylum, you know something is up. Exercise your Master Detective muscles once again and solve this brand-new thrilling case in Mystery Case Files: Black Crown!
When Big Fish Studios stopped developing the Mystery Case Files franchise in-house, there has been a clear problem of inconsistencies with each release (IMHO). This is until the recent release of Mystery Case Files: Moths to a Flame, which for me puts the franchise back on track of being one of the genre’s absolute best once again. To my surprise, Mystery Case Files: Black Crown continues the franchise in an upward trajectory that should delight long-time fans of the franchise.
First, it's worth mentioning that the storyline in Mystery Case Files: Black Crown is both intriguing and thrilling. Mystery Case Files games have always relied on psychological thriller elements, but most of them have been focusing on solving the mystery itself. This sequel, however, perfectly combines well-executed psychological thriller elements with complex case-solving. Thus, the game contains some genuinely creepy moments, plenty of exciting sequences, and sophisticated storytelling techniques that actually make you think. Moreover, the game features references to one of the series’ best Mystery Case Files: 13th Skull, which should serve as a cool Easter Egg for fans but isn't overly-distracting for casual players.
A storyline as layered as the one in Mystery Case Files: Black Crown would not work if it does not have equally-clever gameplay to support it. Even for an advanced HOPA player like me, the game still managed to offer both numerous surprises and creative gameplay challenges. The adventure portion is far from straightforward and effectively maintains high suspense level all the way through. Not only does the game includes some of the most imaginative hidden object scenes I have seen in quite awhile, but the puzzles are also impressive and satisfyingly difficult. In addition, the game features a pocket watch as a helpful gadget. This gadget is only used multiple times in the first chapter, which is definitely appreciated since the task associated with it can get repetitive after a while.
When it comes to a Mystery Case Files game, genre-leading production is to be expected; especially long time fans. I really think that Mystery Case Files: Black Crown does not disappoint in that regard. The game’s visuals are stunning, which encompass its breathtaking special effects, epic artwork, and spectacular cutscenes. On the audio side, the game is also spot-on. With immersive musical scores and convincing voice-overs, the game really goes the extra mile in making sure that the player is fully engaged from start to finish. I hope folks will really enjoy this memorable edition as much as I did....demo for yourself, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised Cheers!
I recommend this game!

For the past 40 years, the Livingstone family has been under the attack of a mythical force, that takes the shape of a monstrous octopus. The family members are getting murdered one by one on their private island and when the latest heir turns up dead, they finally reached out to you (detective) for help. Explore the cursed history of the Livingstones in Rite of Passage: Bloodlines – one of the better sequels in this long running series....
The first couple of editions in the "Rite of Passage" series used to stand proudly among the very best of the HOPA genre. While the more recent installments could not capture the magic of the first few games for me; they remained semi -entertaining. However, this new sequel offers some redeeming qualities for fans of the series. The only drawback for me was the mediocre storyline. While the game itself has an engrossing premise and a high-level concept of a family-targeted murder mystery that was enticing, the details are all over the place. The game is saturated with illogical story developments and flawed logic that just might frustrate or bore even hard core fans.
I thought the gameplay was the far better than the storyline, although that is not a high bar. The core game mechanics are well-engineered and fell in line with my expectations. The hidden object scenes and puzzles are fairly standard and sway towards the easy side of the challenge spectrum. These aspects of the gameplay are all well and good, but then things take a nosedive when it comes to the game’s gadget. The gadget, in this case, a magical seashell, takes a random object and spits out evidence upon completion of a jigsaw puzzle. Not only that this messes up the story development even further, but as a gadget, this feels totally lazy and out of place. I purchased the CE version & I completed Rite of Passage: Bloodlines in just under four (4) hours and the bonus chapter in about 60 minutes. The Collector’s Edition includes all the usual bling one expects from a CE like this one. Note: I would have been content with the SE version but this was a BOGO. I really liked this edition overall and I haven't truly enjoyed this series since Rite of Passage: Hide and Seek. Cheers!

The Master Detective of the Mystery Case Files agency is definitely a seasoned slueth, but are you ready to face (The Archivist) which may be your most masterful opponent yet? When your case takes you to the mysterious Zenith Museum of Oddities, you quickly get caught up in a complex web of danger and deceit. Agents Chloe Watson, Blake Parker, and Aiden Miller have all been captured in there attempts to investigate the Zenith Museum but were no match for the ultimate protagonist (THE ARCHIVIST). Now it's up to you Master Detective to save all three (3) of the captured agents and like "Moths to a Flame" you'll be drawn to this extraordinary case from the very beginning until it's surprising conclusion! Kudos to Eipix Entertainment, which has created the first Mystery Case files sequel of 2019, the nineteenth installment in this fan-favorite HOPA franchise! This sequel also references fan favorites such as "The Raven Hearst Case, Madame Fate's Carnival, and The Broken Hours Case too"!!!
Mystery Case Files: Moths to a Flame does not only excel on the story level, but also on all other dimensions. The complexity of the gameplay is quite astounding. From the hidden object scenes to the puzzles, every single element is incredibly well thought out and crafted. Even the adventure components are cleverly layered and offer plenty of challenge, the whole game feels like one giant entertaining puzzle. Furthermore, Eipix also saves some of their best graphics for this game. The intricate artwork is elevated by fantastic lighting, breathtaking animations, and a simply mind-blowing production quality. In the same vein, the soundtracks and the voice acting are superb and help enhance the immersive experience of the game.
Whether you think this is the best Mystery Case Files game or not totally depends on your personal preference, but the t game definitely does not waste a single minute of its Six and a half hours runtime. I chose to purchase the CE version. The Collector’s Edition features a hour long bonus chapter plus the usual CE bling; a strategy guide, wallpapers, concept art, soundtracks, videos, repayable hidden object scenes, repayable puzzles, achievements, collectibles, morphing objects, and a souvenir room.
This is one MCF edition fans don't want to miss and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this latest installment! Cheers...

Adera is basically a Myst-a-like point-and-click adventure title with a little HOS included. Originally released in 2012 for XBOX live and now available here on Big Fish. It’s a growing business model in gaming, used most famously by The Walking Dead, and it will be interesting to see how it does on the Windows PC platform.
Graphically it’s probably the most advanced Xbox LIVE game (now on PC) released on Windows thus far and given the genre it’s not really surprising. As each scene doesn’t involve any action in the same way a First-Person Shooter would, it allows the developers (HitPoint) to up the ante graphically without becoming too taxing on your computer.
The game comes with full audio, and plenty of cut-scenes to provide some narrative as you explore the desert in search of your grandfather, who was presumed dead but now appears to be behind a mysterious message given to you by your father.
The voice acting doesn’t quite hold up to the quality of the graphics, and comes across very much like early attempts at video game voice acting used to, where some lines were delivered perfectly and others were stilted, often not helped by a stiff and unrealistic script. Likewise the storyline is a bit of a clunker, as the heroine encounters repeated supernatural phenomena all the while musing on how concussed she must be, which starts to feel like something of a self-parody. In all honesty it’s fine and does the job, but given that the developers have stated how they wanted to shake up the genre it’s surprising how much of the game feels a tad by-the-numbers, albeit thoroughly enjoyable.
The puzzles themselves aren’t particularly taxing, though the odd one might stump you for a while. Nonetheless they’re good fun to play through and the game has been littered with hidden collectables in an attempt to provide some variety and re-playability. While few of the puzzles will cause you much concern, it’s worth bearing in mind that you do get an achievement for completing Episode One without using the ‘Hint’ option at all. So if you don’t spot this and casually click ‘Hint’ to see what it does (not because you need help, obviously, ahem) then you’ll have to replay through the whole episode again just to unlock that achievement. The rest of the achievements revolve around progressing through the main storyline and finding all the collectables, with the odd speed achievement thrown in that unlocks if you complete a puzzle under a set time. Overall there is little to dislike in Adera, it’s not too challenging but it’s solid and enjoyable. It also provides a change of pace to the other free Xbox LIVE games available on Windows. Whether it’s of a sufficient quality to encourage you to buy the planned future episodes is another thing.
The developers believe the use of a tablet to act as a sort of ‘window’ that you can move around utilizing the tablet’s accelerometer and gyroscope to explore the world around you will shake up the genre somewhat, but to be honest it feels more like window dressing to the main game, which doesn’t push many boundaries but does tweak things nicely.
By the looks of it the game is aiming toward the adult female market and it certainly has a better chance of doing so than most of the other Xbox LIVE games out there. That said, there’s no reason this game can’t be enjoyed by anyone who likes puzzles and point-and-click games. Especially if you like adventure games like Darkness and Flame which I also recommend on BFG. Cheers!
I recommend this game!

My Brother Rabbit begins with a young boy and his little sister, who soon becomes very ill. While the “true” story is told in gorgeously drawn artwork between levels, what the player actually gets to explore is a surreal world mirroring the story. That’s where the magic comes in, as the siblings cope with the fear and uncertainty surrounding them, by way of imagination. A lot of media tries to recreate the innocence of childhood. Some succeed, but so many simply come off awkward or too sugarcoated. My Brother Rabbit does exactly what it sets out to – it whimsically recaptures the magic of childhood (a time when swing sets are castles and every corner holds a new secret), and leaves the player in a fascinating world. Most impressively, it does so with a storyline that is truly moving and, at times, heartbreaking. As the children conjure a wildly creative re-imagining of their experience in order to cope, the player is treated to a variety of both dreary and stunning landscapes – wilting gardens, desert islands, and ocean treehouses await them as they help their new rabbit friend make his way through. There’s a lot of both hope and sadness hidden throughout the world, as you continue to meet creatures and problem-solve. Players have five different “stages,” though each stage has several parts to it. Nearly everything is interactive, though the pieces don’t always fully come together until later on. Your first goal is to find something that needs to be done – a cloth to cut or a ladder to build – and begin looking for the materials you need for that. As you continue exploring each stage, you’ll find more and more that you can gather, and once you’ve got enough of an item, you’ll unlock the puzzle associated with it. Puzzles come in all different types, including matching games, piecing together torn drawings, and figuring out what order colors should go in. No two puzzles are the same, giving the player a fresh experience every time. There’s always something new to decipher. One of the game’s most charming features is its lack of words. You might not notice this absence, if you don’t go in already knowing to expect it, but My Brother Rabbit’s story is told through art and gameplay, with almost no instructions being written out. Behind the game was a conscious decision to create something which could be understood by anyone – you won’t find heavy exposition and dialogue here. My Brother Rabbit is universally playable, no matter who you are or what you speak. Aside from just being inclusive, this also lets the player really focus on other features of the game, such as a beautiful soundtrack and whimsical artwork. In a way, it’s perfect – the point of My Brother Rabbit isn’t to have every moment and imagining explained. My Brother Rabbit is about recapturing magic. It’s about the innocence of childhood, and the beauty behind how children see the world around them. It’s something you need to just jump into and explore and I am so glad I did! Thank you Big Fish for this innovative and heart-warming adventure. I highly recommend this amazingly beautiful game for everyone to experience. Cheers!!!

Security guards at a local shopping mall are being terrified out of their minds after claiming that they've seen mannequins came alive at night. It's up to (you) Rick Rogers, the famous paranormal investigator, to solve yet another creepy supernatural case...
I really enjoyed this latest chapter of Paranormal Files; although "Fellow Traveler" (where Rick only has 3 days to solve the case or else he'll die) is my favorite. That said, Kudo's to Elephant games for creating such an interesting plot for this edition! In the past, we have seen countless HOPA games about possessed relatives and cursed objects, but walking shopping mall mannequins is definitely something new. Enough to make Paranormal Files: Enjoy the Shopping a refreshing game to play with a unique storyline. The game delivers the horror elements fairly well through mini jump scares and an eerie environment too. While the tone of the game steers more toward the campy territory than actual serious adult horror like the Maze series, for me it is enjoyable all the same. It's also worth mentioning that this edition is consistently entertaining from beginning to end. The game purely focuses on the HOPA gameplay and includes no gadgets or helpers, which I personally appreciate and the developers at Elephant did a great job with executing the plot. The gameplay itself isn't groundbreaking, but there are just enough unconventional elements to throw the predictability off balance a little which I also appreciate. The same goes with the hidden object scenes and the puzzles – straightforward, yet quite creative.
In my opinion Elephant Games very rarely disappoints when it comes to sights and sounds. Although Paranormal Files: Enjoy the Shopping is far from being this developers best work, the quality of the visuals is still hard to deny. The brightness and contrast in some of the scenes could have been better balanced, but the sharp graphics and the atmospheric production are strong and engaging. Perhaps Elephant had a larger budget to work with because they didn't cut corners with this installment or the previous two games either.
I completed game in about three and a half hours and another hour for the bonus chapter. I chose the Collector’s Edition which has all the usual bling but with one exception...the collectibles were really challenging to find (which for older players like me proved frustrating). I also wish I had waited for this SE version because I didn't feel that the CE was actually "CE worthy". I do recommend this modern paranormal adventure and I look forward to more editions of this awesome series. Cheers!
I recommend this game!
