How exciting that Artifex Mundi partnered up with World-Loom once again for a brand-new fantasy adventure. In Lost Grimoires: Stolen Kingdom, you play a young alchemist who returns home after years practicing magic at the university. But things are not the same back home when you find a mysterious masked man inside your own home and childhood memories about your missing parents come rushing back to you. Will you reach your full potential as an alchemist? From the synopsis above, it is clear that the storyline in Lost Grimoires: Stolen Kingdom is not very unique. Luckily, the fast-paced nature of the game as well as some interesting minor story details are there to keep me engaged. Moreover, the game also includes an Alchemy Kit for you to interact with (which I loved). This is the type of extra feature that enhances the value of the game by cleverly integrating itself into the plot, as opposed to those that feel like useless gimmicks. The Alchemy Kit is essentially what kept me excited about in Lost Grimoires: Stolen Kingdom. Firstly, the gameplay, especially the adventure part, is basic and easy. Inventory items collected are used almost immediately and HOPA veteran contributors like me can easily predict the next moves of the game. In addition, the puzzles less challenge and creativity for seasoned players. The hidden object scenes are slightly more entertaining; they are not groundbreaking by any means, but at least they require some brainpower and I appreciate this aspect. Lost Grimoires: Stolen Kingdom delivers solid graphics nonetheless. I enjoyed the variety of colors and shades in each scene and details of the artwork were quite impressive. It would have been perfect if the developer had managed to eliminate the fuzziness from the graphics and make the animations less static. As a standard edition game, Lost Grimoires: Stolen Kingdom actually lives up to its value. This adventure took just a little less than four hours to complete the game on casual mode, without skipping any puzzles. I know that everyone has skipped puzzles in HOPA's especially when they are SUPER DIFFICULT. That wasn't the case for this wonderful release. I think players of every level can enjoy this SE as much as I did. Happy Gaming friends!!!
I recommend this game!

Okay detective put on your black leather gloves and travel to Bordeaux France for your next assignment and prepare to encounter Saint Germaine, the sinister dwarf of Haunted Legends as you investigate eight murders of the Marinite Monastery. Upon arriving and learning the history of Stephon Astor from Abbot Dominic and you examine one of the items from Stephon's house. This item which you call "the eye" isn't a magic artifact by itself but just one part of another one. According to "Haunted Legend" the Astor family possessed a mirror of truth which can only be activated by placing on it a dozen such EYES. The only way to discover how the mirror works is to find all the eyes....CREEPY! When you meet the Cardinal and save his life he tells you of the story that took place 20 years ago when he made a terrible decision without examining the facts. A decision that almost costs him his life if not for you. He reveals a secret to you that Stephan Astor is a powerful Mage. During a search of his home the Cardinal discovers a magical artifact "the EYE" which Astor never denied belonged to him, yet couldn't prove he hadn't used it to harm others. The evidence subsequently resulted in a death sentence which was later pardoned. However, during the 20 year sentence Father Dominic was charged with the responsibility of hiding the secret artifact in the Marinite Monastery. To keep them hidden a key was split; Father Dominic has one half and the Cardinal has the other. Together they reveal the hiding place of the artifact. You can start your investigation when you research the court documents stored in the secret cache in the monastery. Take the keys and find the documents. OH, and I trust you can keep a secret....... Who is the Black Hawk???
This is an exceptional addition to this paranormal puzzle adventure series. You will encounter some familiar characters that we loved in the last edition, THE IRON MASK. Find out all the secrets to this ingenious investigation as you emerge yourself in the award winning Haunted Legends: The Black Hawk. This subversive and sinister series deserves the Editor Choice title. True, it's no secret that ERS is my favorite developer, but gamers of every level are in for an awesome adventure that will blow your mind! Everything about this edition exceeded my high expectations, I think it will exceed your too. Cheers!

I have always enjoyed Myths of the World. This edition didn't seem to entice enough fans during demo play to warrant a rating higher than 3 stars and it deserves a better overall rating. In this edition you are cast in the role of Commander Hirt (you play a male in this one). Seems the Baron of Lunden has a thing for petrifying people to stone and it's up to you to get to the bottom of this unusual story of kidnapping and deceit. Your father has been turned to stone for blindly following the Baron's orders, but what exactly is the Baron's intent? Enter THE BASILISK, a legendary reptile reputed to be king of serpents and said to have the power to cause death with a single glance. Basilisk are sworn protectors of the city of Lunden, there's only one problem. A Black Sun Eclipse is coming in two days and the eclipse will burn this magical protector to it's death. You don't have much time to solve this conundrum (yet you will spend at least 8 hours of game play trying) before Lunden is completely destroyed. During the in depth storyline you discover Ottilia, the Baron's sister. She has a secret that you learn from the town healer; Lisa Ponte. The Basilisk by night is human by day, yes HUMAN. Ottilia falls in love with the Basilisk and is warned by Felicia, (a powerful sorceress of sorts) of the impending doom of the Black Sun Eclipse. Felicia also has the power to bring a Basilisk back to life! She tells Ottilia a year before the upcoming eclipse to find a hiding place, watch out and WARN YOUR HUSBAND about your crazy brother The Baron. It's then you learn that Ottilia had a daughter named Jana who was kidnapped by her brother and now you must save the daughter Jana. The story is complex and there is an unbelievable twist regarding Ottilia's brother The Baron and Jana. You'll have to play the ENTIRE adventure to figure this one out and it will blow your mind when you reach the conclusion of the intricate and obscure adventure.....
In the bonus adventure you get to play the role of Felicia in a quest for the Edelweiss extract which can cure disease of massive outbreaks affecting the entire town of Lunden.
I really enjoyed this adventure and it was extremely difficult to solve. That is why I have given this extraordinary HOPA the five***** star rating. Cheers!

This is Brave Giant's third installment in the Queens Quest Saga and developers have created a spellbinding adventure with a unique story twist. I've played a lot of different characters in a lot of different games. I have been thrown into the role of just about every kind of Detective imaginable and Scientist, Hero/Heroin, and the list goes on. What began with Queens Quest Tower of Darkness, where a Prince named Henrik makes a deal with a Dark Force, resulting in a debt that must be paid with his first born child. You embark on a journey as Princess & Mother to the Tower of Darkness and save your abducted child. You then play the role of an Alchemist with shapeshifting abilities in Queens Quest II tasked with solving the murder of the King's head of security and trusted friend where you must find who is responsible and save your Kingdom. Now in this latest installment of Queens Quest you are on an unusual quest. A quest to become a true, certified alchemist! You’ve been training for this day your entire life, ever since you were left at the school’s front door when you were a baby. You’re just one final exam away from victory. Surely nothing strange will happen today. Nothing like, say, an evil demon made of smoke crashing through the window and attacking the headmaster? End of Dawn is a casual adventure game that takes place in the most prestigious of fantasy realms. It’s a little tough not to compare End of Dawn to another popular wizard at a wizarding school. You know the one I’m talking about. Fortunately, the similarities are only surface deep, as Queen’s Quest 3 is all about puzzle solving and alchemy, two things that quite naturally go together. Your time in End of Dawn will be split between exploration centric adventure scenes and some nice hidden object diversions. You’ll get a surprising amount of freedom to roam back and forth, searching for items that can be used to open doors or remove other obstacles standing in your way. Many of these items are interactive, meaning you’ll need to click and tinker with them to find out their true nature, occasionally even using other inventory items on them. The helper referred to in the adventure is a fairy, non-intrusive and not very vocal but helpful. Hidden object scenes come at a fast pace, which isn’t such a bad thing since they’re quite entertaining to solve. Most of them stick to the standard text list format with one or two interactive items marked in a darker color. Just search, click and collect, you know the drill! Mini-games manage to outshine the hidden object scenes with a glorious array of variety. Ever tried playing a movement-based isometric fantasy puzzle with hot air balloons and clouds? Queen’s Quest 3 has that, and it’s just one of several wholly engaging mini-games you get to complete. Queen’s Quest 3: End of Dawn doesn’t take a lot of newly innovative chances with its design or gameplay content. It wins major points with me for its interesting story, like the previous editions. The puzzles and mini-games reach out and grab you from the start, saving an otherwise ordinary hidden object game from the dustbin. Other reviewers include CE bling so no need to revisit that. I do have to give this the 5 star rating because Brave Giant held their own with the continuation of this wonderful series. I generally do not like to review an entire game based solely on demo, I played this jewel in it's entirety. I love the series and look forward to more releases. Cheers!

Review of game played in it's ENTIRETY. 4 Friends Games is back with the latest installment in the Living Legends franchise. In Living Legends: Beasts of Bremen CE/SE, you play the role of one of two identical twins; Emily. Your character Emily is a researcher, while her twin, Rosabella, is an accomplished musician. Rosabella had been chosen as one of the four musicians who were set to play in the town of Bremen for their Music Festival. Identical twins may not be 100% identical, but they’ll always be there for one another. This is but one of the lessons that you’ll learn in this highly engaging Hidden Object game. However, things are not as they seem. The four musicians have been chosen to carry an ancient curse from what the townsfolk called as “The Mistress of the Fog.” After being sealed, the Mistress wishes to be free and your sister, together with her companions, is the key to releasing her from her prison. Of course, it’s your role to stop that from happening. Starting from the opening cinematic, you’ll find yourself totally drawn in to the world of the game. The combination of an eerily effective score and high quality graphics works to immerse you into the environment. You’d certainly want to get to the bottom of the story after you’ve watched the opening, and more so after you have played the first few minutes of the game. So, instead of a linear experience that has you clicking away at objects in the puzzle, you’re compelled to take on the puzzle from a different perspective. You’ll have to look at what the game says you’ll need in order to expose that Hidden Object. This works to remove whatever feelings of monotony you might get from the game. It quickly turns into another case for Emily cause she has no doubt that she needs to deal with another living legend. It is a Mistress of fog who is behind it all. But Emily can not resist the fog forever. She has to hurry to find her missing sister, defeat the diabolical Mistress and help the town to go back to its original state. The game's graphics are beautiful and fitting the time and place. The scenes are colorful but with a feel of dark magic in them. The festival details add another interesting kick to the locations of the town of Bremen. If you choose the CE version you can enjoy helping the prince find a magic water source in the bonus chapter! I'm an avid fan of all editions of this wonderful series. I look forward to the next exciting edition of this superb series! I recommend this and all the other's as well. Cheers!

•Living Legends: Ice Rose
•Living Legends: Frozen Beauty
•Living Legends: Wrath of the Beast

Like so many in today’s workaday world, I find myself absorbed in my phone on this morning’s commute to work. Keeping up with the latest videogame news, half-reading the status updates of my friends on Facebook — oh! Taylor is messaging me on Lifeline. He’s wondering whether or not he should spend the night sleeping next to the warmth of a potentially radioactive generator, or tough it out in the middle of a hostile, frigid dessert. Quickly, I close my open tabs and running applications; I had better take this. LOL. No, my friend isn’t the world’s most irresponsible camper, but rather, the protagonist in 3 Minute Games’ innovative sci-fi text adventure Lifeline. Spanning three real-time days, the game tasks you with guiding the survivor of a futuristic crash landing to safety as he navigates the challenges of staying alive on the surface of an unfamiliar planet. Not a wholly unique setup in this genre, perhaps, but thanks to nuanced writing and a genuinely novel mechanical hook, Lifeline manages to feel like a window into a living, breathing world. You see, the key differentiator between Lifeline and any other text adventure is 3 Minute Games’ bold decision to introduce a semblance of true-to-life time passage to the proceedings. From initial contact until you discover one of Taylor’s several possible fates, everything happens in somewhat “live” fashion. Through one of two possible text prompts, you can guide the story in multiple different directions, at a pace that is out of your control. Advise Taylor to take a nap or settle down for the night? Expect to hear back from him several hours later. Caution him against cutting through the middle of a large crater by instead navigating the perimeter? The ensuing trek will have him MIA for measurably more time. While at first blush I was worried that this would prove to be a frustrating gimmick, the reality is much more fulfilling. By isolating interactions to sparing moments throughout the day, Lifeline infuses your normal grind with a palpable sense of adventure and consequence. During my play-through, it’s not an exaggeration to say that I woke up nervous about what might have happened to Taylor, or paused in mid-conversation with colleagues to check on the outcome of a decision I had made on his behalf. I’ve played many games that I find engrossing, but Lifeline may be one of the first that changed the way I thought about my daily routine, which leapt off the screen and became a part of my lived experience. This is due in no small part to writer Dave Justus’ excellent script, which bolsters the clever design by presenting in Taylor a truly engrossing character. Perhaps unavoidably, there are some moments of clunky exposition that flesh out Lifeline’s backstory, but that practice never extends to Taylor himself. Deftly interspersing sarcastic asides with moments of downbeat introspection and nervous rambling, Justus crafts a flawed but endearing protagonist who can both annoy you and earn your sympathy in the span of one conversation. In other words: the pitch perfect representation of a young adult out of his depth and looking for help. Without broaching any spoilers at all, it suffices to say that the overall narrative is filled with enough tension and surprise to keep you engaged, but Lifeline’s ultimate feat is the way that it will have you genuinely caring about Taylor. Lifeline is a game that rises to the challenge of an overcrowded genre and even more stuffed app ecosystem. The game’s drip-feed of content – would-be fertile ground for predatory in-app payments – is used instead as an innovative way transform your relationship with the technology that sits at the center of your life. Meanwhile, a tightly written story full of branching paths serves as a vehicle to test the boundaries of what mobile games can do, and challenge you to invest yourself in the fate of someone you’ve never met, stranded millions of miles away. Someone who also happens to be made of ones and zeroes. Amazing!

Unusual murders may seem difficult to solve, but they usually contain a lot more clues than a body that simply disappears without a trace. Naturally, people rarely commit intricate murders that take forever to set up and plan, unless they are in a movie or some kind of video game. Obviously, such crimes are much more exciting to investigate when you play the role of a gifted detective. The Unseen Fears: Body Thief is a hidden object adventure game in which you play the role of a detective who tackles a weird case regarding a string of unusual murders. Your goal is to discover the necessary clues in order to pinpoint a suspect, but given the fact that you possess a few unique abilities as well, the whole adventure turns into quite the thrilling pursuit. Thrilling is an understatement in this 5+ adventure. The plot starts with a victim who was apparently skinned alive using fire, yet all of her clothes are intact in spite of the damage. Your goal is to collect the clues around the murder scene and present them to the detective in charge, and the story gets even more intriguing later on. After being saved from near drowning during your childhood by magical deity, you are given a seal. A special power which gives you the ability to see the "unseen". This proves very helpful as you progress thru this fantastic murder mystery. As for the graphics, they are about as detailed as they can get in the genre, and it’s great to see that the artists managed to create such a suspenseful atmosphere using nothing but static artwork. It’s quite a rush to explore some of the scenes, especially thanks to the neat sound effects and great soundtrack. All in all, The Unseen Fears: Body Thief is a very engaging puzzle game, and quite the challenging hidden object game at the same time. Hence, you can have a lot of fun with it if you enjoy a REALLY good mystery. I loved every minute of this unique game and I love the genre. CE bling contains the following.....

Congratulations Five-BN on this engaging endeavor. This development team is the creative force behind the incredible Lost Land Series and New York Stories. The Legacy: Forgotten Gates Collector's Edition is a wonderful adventure to a different world and an interesting culture. It should be considered a well-established fact that strange things happen in museums at night. We know it from the movies and games now. You play the role of Diana who finds herself staying late at this museum and you start hearing some unusual noises. Unlike the stories where the museum exhibits come to life in our world, you get sucked through a portal into a different world. What sounds like a great adventure that can enlarge your knowledge of the Mayan culture, turns into a challenge to find the way back to your time and world. You see, the portal that brought you into this new world got destroyed and you don't really know how to get back home. Shaash the Gatekeeper is the one who can help you find a way back, but it's going to take a lot on your part. Prepare for a REAL adventure! Since you get into the world very similar to the Mayan civilization, most of your locations are going to be lush nature scenes or some ancient ritualistic temples. The visuals are hands down some of the best I have seen in the industry; gorgeous scenery, dimensional graphics, mind-blowing cut-scenes for instance. The soundtracks are just as impressive, and the voice over is great. The game features four modes of play: Casual, Advanced, Hard, and Custom. The hints and skips can be adjustable from 5 to 90 seconds and from 5-150 seconds accordingly. The game provides a map and a strategy guide for you as you play. It is not just the game's story that is an adventure, it is also the gameplay part, too. The story flows smoothly challenging you with quite a number of collectibles, achievements, and puzzles, but not so many hidden object scenes. The collectibles include Mayan culture artifacts, like pyramids, scrolls, deity statues, skulls etc... Then you also have to find 30 morphing objects. There are quite a few puzzles that vary in design. Most of them are not very difficult. Both hidden object scenes and puzzles are up for replay. This is an easy 4.5 or 5 star rating to what promises to be an incredible NEW series for this amazing creative team. I look forward to see more releases from these brilliant adventure creators. Recommend for gamers of every level. Cheers!

Requiem for the Forgotten Shadow is the thirteenth installment in the Dark Parables series. The game takes place in the town of Anaben at the foot of the Swiss Alps. As the Fairytale Detective, you are sent to investigate a mysterious illness that is turning the people of Anaben into shadows of their former selves. This game is based on Hans Christian Andersen's The Shadow (Skyggen). The challenge is, most people are not at all familiar with this story! You are going to travel to Switzerland to deal with another mystery going on in a town of Anaben. You are hired by the town's duke to investigate a mysterious illness that turns the citizens into shadows. People's bodies are literally being emptied of themselves left and right. You need to hurry with your investigation before you yourself turns into a shadow of yourself. It doesn't take to be a medical doctor to understand that it is not an illness, but rather a dark magic used with evil intentions. You are going to deal with a secret group to stop this madness. The game's graphics are just wonderful. Lots of colors, shades and details. This collector's edition offers four modes of play: Casual, Hard, Insane, and Custom. You get to adjust the skips and hint according to your skills and liking. You get a map and a strategy guide to help you navigate and get help when you need it. The gameplay itself seems to be geared toward more experienced players. But you can always fix that with the custom settings. The hidden object scenes are all FROGs, which makes it a paradise for the fans of looking for pieces of inventory. But, if you are not one of them, you will have to accept that. The puzzles are very interesting and vary a lot, but they might get a bit challenging for some of the non expert players. This has become a common feature of the Dark Parables series, perhaps a bit too common. The Parables are broken into:
Rise of the Shadow God
The Maiden and The Shadow
The First Handmaiden
Fall of the Shadow God
I remember these from connecting the previous editions.
The Maiden Goddess, depicted in The Final Cinderella, appears in physical appearance for the first time.
◾ In the warehouse are a bear and human automaton, which were first featured in Goldilocks and the Fallen Star.
◾ The Detective meets the Fairy Queen, who first appeared in Rumpelstiltskin and the Queen.
◾ One of the pieces the Detectives needs to build the Shade's Lantern is the Bolide Shard, which was heavily featured in Jack and the Sky Kingdom.
◾ The Moon Goddess and Sun Goddess make a brief appearance at the very end, whom the Detective last saw in Goldilocks and the Fallen Star.
◾ The book, Skyggen, made a second brief appearance. The first time it made an appearance was in the last game in The Thief and the Tinderbox.
I am going to leave the CE bling out of this review, multiple reviewers have already covered all of the material. There is a bonus chapter where you continue to help the duke and the duchess by restoring their well-being which I enjoyed very much. I hear everyones plea to allow Blue Tea to have more input on this series if it's going to continue enticing the fan base into adding another Dark Parable game into their collection. I agree with these comments too. I'm giving this one 5 stars because of the outstanding graphics, gameplay, and the level of difficulty. I hope the next installment of this phenomenal series is better with Blue Tea having more of a creative presence. Demo this one to see if you are interested in continuing. Cheers!

Kudos to Artifex Mundi and Big Fish for this sequel to the 2015 Eventide Slavic Fable. Now more than ever is an exciting time to be a Big Fish game member with their latest trend of offering more superb Standard Edition games to members! In this edition you’re out rock-climbing with your niece and she gets kidnapped by a crazy wizard who wants to try and resurrect his dead neglected wife? That’s the story behind The House of Fables’ Eventide 2: The Sorcerer’s Mirror, which is a strange mix of adventure game and hidden object game. The game is set out by a series of different areas that have a variety of puzzles that you need to solve to move into the next one. This allows developer House of Fables to make a story that is more involved than a series of hidden object puzzles that don’t have much to link them. Aiding this is the series of cut-scenes, though these are pretty janky: the people move somewhat robotically, their lip syncing is very well executed and the magical effects really fits in with the rest of the animation style. The main focus of Eventide 2 is the hidden object puzzles, which come in three varieties: a classical “here’s a list, find these things”, a slight variance that shows you an image of what you’re looking for and a “find x amount of this thing”. The first is used to find a specific item in an environment, the second is to find pieces of quest items that you then assemble and the third is to gather ingredients for the crafting system. The crafting system is based mostly around herbs and healing remedies, so you’ll be locating mushrooms and plants and then combining them in your inventory. These are very specific, and you get a list each time that you have to make a recipe. The exceptions to this are the few times you need to either break something or repair tools, though this involves either just clicking a lot or dragging a pole to a tool head. To mix up the tried-and-tired hidden object gameplay, some of the hidden objects are actually hidden behind other things, or are in locked boxes. The game tells you which objects you can’t see by highlighting its name, and there’s normally only a couple in each section. These added an extra layer of thought, but become somewhat obvious as the cursor changes when you hover over something you can move.
There’s a variety of other puzzles to fill in the gaps, though none of them are especially taxing or original. Eventide 2 holds your hand a bit (expert players may not like this), and the only puzzles that are reused are object identification puzzles that ask you to click on the symbol that represents a word. At the first two difficulty levels you can skip these if you wish, and you don’t really miss anything if you came for hidden object. Eventide 2 has moral choices throughout, and it claims that it makes a difference to the story but it doesn’t really. It is a case of choosing to be an honest, helpful, nice person or a total jerk, but both seem to be means to a similar end. There are also two types of collectibles hidden throughout the game, handheld mirrors and imp cards. The cards are pretty easy to spot, but the mirrors blend in rather well with a lot of the scenes. Eventide 2: The Sorcerer’s Mirror was a little more than I expected which is awesome: it’s been many years since I last played a hidden object game and I didn’t think that the genre would have moved on as much as it has. The writing was obviously translated into English, and the voice acting matches the odd look of the cut-scenes, but the gameplay is amusing for the two-three hours there and it has a more than satisfying conclusion. Don't miss out on this epic adventure and if you haven't played the 1st Eventide, I highly recommend it too!
I recommend this game!
