The game was a good length, lots of things to do. The music was a bit odd, not what you'd expect for Victorian London and I'm still undecided about the 'choosing your path' concept. But the core characters were likeable and the plot was original, and I'd like to see more. Thanks Do.
I recommend this game!

Not bad for an 'old school' game! The lack of a map meant I had to navigate the old fashioned way, adding to the challenge. The graphics were well done and you get a good few hours of gaming time (mostly due to the lack of map haha). I'd have another crack it, definitely.
When volcanic eruptions uncover hidden caves in Samoa, you can’t wait to decipher the ancient texts inside! But this educational expedition quickly takes a dangerous turn when someone steals your research! Legend says the Maori hid a powerful artifact, and there’s no telling what damage it could do in the wrong hands! Can you find the artifact and save the world in time?
An island off the coast of New Zealand, eh? This kiwi had to check it out! And yeah, overall it was a great game. There were parts of Maori culture that were portrayed really, really well - the carvings looked great, and seeing our $5 note had me smiling with pride. Other things weren't so great, tbh - the music was more South American than South Pacific, and the Maori pronounciations had me grinding my teeth a little. But I have a much better appreciation for the amount of research game developers have to do to create a game. It can't be easy. Some Kiwis might grizzle at the errors, but I can take it for what it is - a game!
'Kapai' (car-pie) = good.

Exquisite artwork! I've never seen a game that captures a desolate, haunted house with such grisly beauty. The mini games are great; the version I played had practically no instructions so I relied on instinct and still got through most of them. Only niggle was the time lag when changing scenes or navigating by the map. For the squeamish: only a tiny handful of horror scenes, but wow, are they scary...
I recommend this game!

Alex Hunter: Lord of the Mind
Stop a madman from taking over a city using a mind control device!
This game is jam-packed with activity - you'll definitely get your money's worth if you buy it. The hidden object scenes are complex, and if you choose not to navigate with the map you'll be in for a challenge!
The designers should get an award for the most gruesome sound effect for a grindstone - reminded me of fingers down a blackboard and a trip to the dentist, combined. Awesome!
I recommend this game!

some technical improvements would make this a great game
I agree with most of the other reviewers: it's a good, creepy game, and lengthy to boot. My only niggles are: the inventory bar doesn't have a lock function, and I could have done with a location map. Some of the scenes looked a little similar, and I'm the sort of person that gets lost walking to my letterbox, so I used the hint button lots to figure out where to go (hence the request for a map!)
Without spoiling the plot, I was disappointed by the end. There was a lot of potential for a show-down with the enemy - (the buildup to the climax was awesome) but if you blink, you'll miss it.
I recommend this game!

Crystals of Time
Help Ashley Ford find her father and solve the mystery of the Three Oak Mansion.
I found this game to be a mix of challenge and frustration. The plot is almost non-existent. so just treat the game as a hidden object romp through an old mansion. The hidden object scenes present good challenges. The poor English doesn't help, though.
Done properly, with a fleshed-out plot and interactive characters, a better map and English translations, it could have gone far.
My sole source of pure enjoyment was the soundtrack. Really lovely. I'm going to see if I can download it from somewhere.
I don't recommend this game.

This game's got a few unique aspects to it - the scenes constantly rock from side to side as if you actually are on a ship. You can either tolerate the mild sea-sickness, or turn that function off :#
The map isn't interactive, that would have helped because the time lag moving from scene to scene is longer than usual.
There are some good challenges, where you have to use an inventory item to solve a fast-moving problem, but you have to work out which item to use. The hidden object scenes are very challenging, too.
The plot was okay, but the time lags between scenes made the overall game drag out too long. Also, #as a lapsed Catholic, not particularly religious) I found the main character's blasphemy in the script a little odd. Some people might be offended by it.
I don't recommend this game.

Final Cut: Encore Collector's Edition
Your murderous half-sister has escaped, and you've got the last piece of your father's treacherous film projector...
So often, we have to suffer from tedious sequels, prequels, jonquils, etc - but not here! This game is just as good in plot, graphics, and challenge as the first game. Potential game buyers, you're looking at cinematic gold. The collector's edition is full of unique extras! Bring on Final Cut 3!

This game is quite unique! Original plot, lots of hidden objects and games, plus the added extras of trophies and "find the ..." (skulls, in this case) that we have come to expect with good-quality games.
I liked the artwork, it was cartoony but edgy. The background scenes are very detailed. The voice-over artists were great. The only niggle, for me, was the quality of English for instructions and dialogue... not perfect, but they weren't so bad that they were confusing or misleading.
