Awesome graphics. Environment looked something like Medieval Austrian area near the Alps. Beautiful landscapes, blue skies (as opposed to the absurd purple/pink/orange/etc, skies andcoloring so common in games). Nice buildings/structures inside and out. Good detail. Excellent blend of photographic and “painted” scenery (in a given scene).
HOSs good - especially in allowing exit/completion if you find the main item, labelled in green (HOSs are sometimes tedious to me otherwise, but these were quite pleasant).
Plenty of puzzles (I like puzzles) - usually too easy (to my taste), but range of difficulty with some challenging.
Good help. No jump map, but not needed given how the game is laid out and how you travel in it.
Music, sound typical. Characters do not have voice overs - you read what they say. I don’t mind this but I suspect most players would enjoy the game more if it had voice overs.
Very much like that you have a knife and a lighter with you at all times. Much more realistic and less frustrating than typical games scenario - where you find a knife, use it, and then the game throws away the knife you found even though you need a knife (or sharp object etc.) again later. Who would throw their knife away?! Credit to the folks who made the decision to allow you to keep a knife (and lighter).
Dark shadows are rising, the spirits are restless and Lord Strix is back! Travel to his hidden lair and defeat him once and for all—but hurry; he grows stronger by the minute!
Very good graphics, with good color scheme (unlike the unrealistic garish purple/pink/etc. skies and color casting so common in games). Only complaint is that graphics were sometimes a bit cutesy for my taste. Average sound, slightly above average music. No HOSs at all - great - I am a bit tired of HOSs. Many puzzles, above average quality to my taste, from somewhat easy to somewhat difficult. How you like/rate this game will likely depend much on how much you like HOSs and how much you like puzzles.
Very enjoyable/fun science fiction theme and story. Good graphics. Plenty of puzzles, and of better quality than average for BF adventure games. (I personally like puzzles, and get tired of HOSs.) Average help. The game had a few awkward glitches/interfaces/etc., but no big deal (however, without this issue, I would have given a rating of 5).
Excellent game. Very good graphics. The colors are much more realistic and pleasant than most games these days. The skies are actually blue! Why do games so often have purple, green, violet, orange, red, yellow, etc. skies (and many other things), which looks terrible. Yes, I know, they are trying to be flashy - but it looks terrible. This game did not make that mistake. Also good detail and clarity. Fun and adventurous environment. Sound and music average. HOSs reasonable. Puzzles overall better than average, although overall a but too easy. Excellent help (as is typical for modern games). I played the non-CE version, and it was a bit short, with a possibly incomplete ending. Perhaps they are trying to get folks to buy the CE more often.
Very good graphics and ambience. I really appreciated the realistic colors, as opposed to the garish coloring of so many games (e.g. many other games force too much purple, violet, pink, bright red etc. into the scenery). I was pleased with the refreshing uniqueness of the middle ages monastery. Good music and voice overs. No HOSs - which suited my personal taste (I personally wish HOSs in other games had skip buttons, the way that puzzles do, so that when I get tired of them I can move on). You do have to find collections of objects in the environment (which as it was done worked for me). The puzzles were good. They seemed to me to range easy to difficult, with the average difficulty more than that of most Big Fish games. Help was what it needed to be. (I do think that the soup that one prepares early in the game should include more substance; such as lentils, tomatoes, carrots…)
Warning, possible spoiler content: I found the ending to be uplifting - terminating a transient corporeal form in order to save the eternal angelic form (this is obviously not to say that terminating corporeal forms is good in general - this was a unique imaginary case). In reading reviews, some interpreted the ending very differently.
I appreciate that Big Fish Games is willing to have games that do not exactly fit the BFG norm. That being said, I think BFG should better indicate aspects of games on their web site, such as if it is a children’s game, something akin to PG rating, HOSs or not, mini-puzzles or not… This would help users like myself find the games that suit them, and reduce the extent to which users waist time downloading and trying games that do no suit them, and reduce overly negative reviews for games that do no fit the BFG universe norm. I suspect that the relative uniqueness of this game (within the BFG universe) (e.g. no HOSs) unduly hurt its average user rating. (Imagine how BFG games would be reviewed by folks who focus on first person shooter games, especially if they did not know what they were getting.)
Gorgeous graphics (e.g. amazing interiors of the manor house) are the best aspect of this game and the main reason I give this game a rating of 5. Good music/sound (e.g. good use of Mozart's Requiem). No guide/note book, but not needed. HOSs and puzzles were fun, altho adding a few more difficult puzzles would have been better for me. Only annoyance was too much traveling back and forth between areas, and a map that allows jumping to locations (for users that want that) would be a significant improvement. Greatly enjoyed this game.

Nice graphics/artwork (perhaps a tad low res by 2013 standards). Pleasant background music/sound. Good videos. Best aspect for me was the mostly good and fun puzzles. The Rube Goldberg type action/reaction sequence puzzles were a pleasant surprise, and I wish more games had more puzzles like these. HOSs were typical for the genre. Very good help/hints. As with many games, I am glad it had a map but I think the map should let you click on a location and immediately go there. Overall, really enjoyed it.
