Finally, BFG released a brilliant game to add to my collection. Although it is too early to say but until now this is the best game of 2013. All the reviewers have done a great job and provided lots of details. I will just tell about the best moments of the game. It won’t be an exaggeration to say that this edition of House of 1000 Doors excels other titles in great game mechanics and navigation techniques. The hint system refills quickly and is useful outside HOS. The journal records your actions as you move forward. Special thanks to devs for extremely useful jump map. The map also indicates morphing objects in the scene. Of course, I can’t miss the amazing sound effects and voice overs. Both were professionally done and were a great delight to my ears. This is a ‘must-have’ for any HOPA lover. Off to buy :)
BCA Tokyo was neither fun, nor real challenge. Very tedious story, very boring and long HOG. I couldn’t even finish the demo. Guess the true fans of straight HOGs love this one – so enjoy.
I regret having spent my punches on this game. I must say all the bad reviews turned out to be true: Detective Agency doesn’t live up to modern standards of HOGs. Dinosaur dark graphics was appropriate 3-4 years ago. While I was no expecting voice overs, the general sound quality wishes a lot to be desired: throughout the game you turn up the volume. I don’t like to be distracted by such minor things. But the greatest irritation of all was poor English, with lots of spelling and grammar mistakes. I wish the devs had their text edited at least. I won’t call myself spoilt by titles of major devs – I d/l from time to time less sophisticated games. But I won’t dare advising anyone to buy Detective Agency.
I wholeheartedly support those reviewers, who suggest putting off the purchase till SE. I do not think this installment is worth the CE price. Well, I am not being down on the game. I am suggesting that lately CEs give up quality and challenge to quantity, thus losing a bit on the users. Anyway the game itself is very much enjoyable. I am a huge HOS lover, and Love Chronicles boasts a variety of them: silhouette, interactive and reverse type. Mini-games were less challenging, anyway inventive and fun to play. The hint system works perfect and fast, useful outside HOS. The music and voice overs were professionally done, supported the general impression of the game, and were not intrusive or repetitive. I adored the graphics of the game: amazing artwork and very clear colors. Unfortunately there are no achievements and no collectibles within the game (my favorite feature in CEs). The level of challenge did not leave up to my expectations, even in the hardest mode. To sum up, I will recommend the game to the fans of the series or those who don’t care about the great challenge.
A murderous figure in a red mask haunts the streets of a small French town, and the mayor needs your help to track him down. But you soon discover that the mysterious Red Masque might not be the real criminal…
Huge fan of the series, was very glad to see the new installment released so soon.
Here is the list of features I enjoyed most: - Excellent wide screen option. I am quite attentive to this feature since my computer is very ‘scrupulous’ with games’ wide screen options - The achievements room and ‘take the photo of the scene’ option. Little things like these make games different and more enjoyable - Not to forget about this charming cute kitten (cat person speaking in me). Couldn’t take my eyes off – resembles my daughters pet. - Detailed and superb graphics. no problems with discerning the objects. - Amazing hint system (functioning outside HOS).
Over and over the same nightmare is following you: your sister Anna is trapped in a strange existence, begging you to help her escape. But what if these are not just random nightmares?
I love to see HOPA SEs released from time to time – a nice change from the many CE versions. With this one I am kind of confused: everything could be ok, but for the lack of walkthrough. I like to evaluate the game length first, because I am not into 2-hours games – WT could be much helpful indeed. Besides we all have different game experience – why the devs won’t consider this fact? Additional guidance is appreciated. Put aside, Family Tales seems to be quite nice. I loved the fact they used different types of puzzles and HOS – a very refreshing feature. There are no VOs as many already pointed but they are not needed here at all – the game is self-sufficient without them. Besides it is not only music and VOs that make you love the game, right? Still hesitating about the purchase, my advice - wait until DD or some kind of sale comes.
