I really wanted this game but a few things prevented me from buying it. There is no instructions nor options except for number of pieces and their shape. There is no way to pick up more than one piece at a time to move the pieces. There is also no rotation of the pieces so its only set up one way. Pictures are beautiful though.
Finally a fab griddlers (mosaics) game! So many times its easy to get stuck not sure on which to fill a square and no option but to click it and end up with a big red X telling us we are wrong. With Fantasy Mosaics, they give us some power ups to use to reveal a square which can be so helpful, especially on the big difficult boards. You can earn them through playing the board. Not much of a tutorial but even as I'm still a beginner having started this game in the last couple of months with the releases at BFG, I still get tired of the long tutorial so a simple one is good but if you are not familiar at all with this game, I suggest to go through a tutorial at the free World Mosaics game (or the other griddler games here). Also it may seem easy in the beginning but it does become harder with bigger boards as you go on, so a good challenge. I can't comment on the sound since I can't hear but the visuals are appealing and its neat to not have to fill in every X square, since the game will do that for you when you filled in the correct squares. It just makes it smoother playing. Love that it does that.
I saw reviews talking about this being a kids game, not for adults, but I disagree on a couple of things, 1, that BFG has games geared for kids, they have games for everyone here!
Then 2, there's a kid in us all and I for one loved this game! The demo hour was up before I knew it and went and got the game to keep going. I haven't seen this in awhile, but the colors are just bright and beautiful. Really makes you motivated to see what's next. You make matches by the "keyhole" to open it up and it makes the board bigger with more to do. There's objects to bring down the board, resources to collect (love when the basket comes out and you need to collect the resources they need by matching). It's relaxing too. I've smile through the whole hour and then still am playing! I'm just having a great time with this match 3 and don't think we should put down a game for it being set up for younger age! It's a beautiful one for anyone to enjoy.
Take a journey through medieval times. Help Joan of Arc to build a new kingdom and change the fate of the people in this epic story of honor and courage.
Heroes from the Past: Joan of Arc is the daily special today but I just bought last week after having found this gem of a game looking for another fun Match 3 game and got hooked in after one board! I love when there is a story within the game but even more so learning some history with it! (Its the best way to learn but fun way!)
Too there is so much variety in this game: **Swap, chain and group matching. You choose! (no slider but would love to see that on another Heroes of the Past game (hint hint developers!) **Timed and Untimed so you can choose which you want to play **I'm unable to hear so can't comment on the music but visually its appealing board. I do get tired of the 'gem' ones so its great to see the variety here! Very appealing boards and "icons (gems)" **It also has boards within boards to play (like bonus games but you go right back to your game you were playing when you finish it!) **Power ups are earned in the game and used in that same level, so a unique challenge! **Also Awards for your first building etc. **I don't care for Time Management games but love this building within a match 3 game! Very appealing homes and time period appropriate. Easy to follow to do. With tips on, it helps but not overwhelming for me.
Those are the major parts in the game (hopefully got them right since I play alot of Match 3! ) I really recommend this for a fun and variety Match 3 game!
I'm a big Mahjong fan and yet am picky about some Mahjong games (hate to reshuffle, prefer to play to do in starting layout, etc) but this was close to perfect! It has: - Not much of a story, but a theme of layouts related to pirate and other designed layouts that are a great challenge and fun. It's always good to see new layouts and its tried and proven that it has a solution (I hate layouts that are basically impossible to get unless you shuffle over and over). Some neat looking layouts with the gold and silver tiles. -Usually I'm not one for a timer, but that's only one part of each layout you can achieve. It's not required to go to another layout. So it can be easily ignored if you don't like being timed or you can challenge yourself later on to work on getting all 3 stars.. -Lots of layouts! (120) I spent the day playing this and bought it after 15 minutes of playing! - The challenge too is to get all the gold tiles cleared and strategy is included to clear them in a certain amount of pairs. So those who more like to relax and play can, but there is no timer or anything to turn off. - This game is similar to the other this developer has put out (the Christmas one, Halloween, etc) and they all different in the layouts that I recall, they are theme related too. Enjoy!
That's exactly what I did, is checking out some Match 3 (which is the favorite game of mine lately) and while trying a few, this was one of them I ended up enjoying so much that I bough half way through the demo hour and have played lots since!, Note, I can't tell you if the music is good or not since I can't hear so check the other reviews on that or try for yourself
Dreams of a Geisha is a match 3 that is relaxing to play, on a timeless play (along with timed play, which I didn't try, so couldn't tell you if its enough time, but usually that differs from player to player based on how long they played this one as well as other match 3 games). They do state that if you run out of time, you can extend it, sort of like using a power up. The symbols (gems) (I assume Geisha related) are unique. The theme is of re-opening the 4 temples of Geisha that bring about restoring her world of beauty and mind. There are about 30 levels in each of the temples, so alot of game to play. There are various power ups you earn from the amount of match 3 you make (and get them faster making match 4 and 5) that will take out one item (hammer) or whole line (lightening) or area of 7, etc. The challenges include clearing out the background color, making a match through vines (?) like chains) and I'm sure more challenges to come, but I've played about 10 levels which was a good couple of days worth and a few hours. Once you clear the board, a key will appear on the board that you go through a maze like to bring it to the crate that will then move it to a shortcut closer to the treasure chest. (Really unique!) You actually can move the board to any direction you want. using arrows at the top. Once you get the key to the treasure chest, you have obtained a piece of the picture where after 10 levels or so, you then put them together which gives you (like a puzzle) a saying that has some beautiful pictures.
So its really a unique, and fun match 3. I'm thrilled I keep trying and buying these different ones, and finding these match 3 gems!
This was a different sort of match 3 with various ways to play! The usual Match 3, or challenge yourself with match 4 (or 5) at the minimum, group click of gems, dragging mouse to make matches and new to me, called "Slider" match where you move one row at a time to match up with gems to make matches. First time I've ever saw this in a game! After I purchased this, I did discover that BFG does have one that is all "Slider" match 3 game called Treasures of the Ancient Cavern and its fab! I'm a fan of match 3 so new "Slider" hooked me in on both these! There is relaxed playing so no timer mode. You can also change the mode of game, match 4, slider, etc., any time you are playing. The only negatives was that the gems were boring, very standard kind. I would have liked to see more darker and special jewels more related to the pirate theme. That would have made this game a 5 star. But it has all the unique plays and varieties that makes it a worthwhile Match 3 to get!
