Wow, this one hit the mark for me in every way. Certainly not a horror game, but a very interesting psychological thriller. And no, it is not about mental illness - none of the characters are mentally ill, but it is a journey of discovery that leads you to a conclusion quite likely much different than what you thought at the beginning of the game. Saying anything more would be a major spoiler, so I will leave it at that.
I am admittedly not a fan of Eipix games, but this one was truly outstanding. A unique storyline that I have not seen before, with twists and turns & a satisfying ending. I had to double check that Eipix actually made this one, it is so different from their usual. I highly recommend this game!

Like so many others, I miss the days of the original MCFs and Big Fish as developer. It's been a struggle to enjoy this series the last few years & the games have been hit & miss - mostly misses. However after the most recent installment of Moths to a Flame, I had hope, as that one held my interest more than most in recent memory. Alas, not this game. It was boring right from the start & a chore to play. Tedious tasks, easy puzzles, boring storyline.
Something about Eipix games in general simply does not inspire me. The load times to start the games & especially to exit their games drive me nuts. Mostly however, it's because their games are *so* predictable in terms of style of puzzles, style of gameplay, characters & their spoken lines. Not bad graphics, but outside of that I find most all Eipix games a real disappointment & tend to avoid most all of them at this point. For instance, the Hidden Expedition series used to be fantastic, but Eipix versions are dreadfully boring. They just seem to continue to churn out the same old, same old. Having said that, their other most recent games around Halloween 2019 - Haunted Manor: Remembrance in particular, and also Dreadful Tales: The Fire Within, were quite outstanding and not recognizable as a typical Eipix game. Unfortunately, it seems they used up all their most recent creativity on those 2 games, and this MCF installment is a very sad disappointment for what was once a stellar series.

What a gorgeous game, with such a beautiful story. I was sad when the game ended because I wasn't yet ready to let it go.
The story is different than the usual stuff we get in these games, and had me drawn in from the beginning. A few twists and turns, with redemption in the end. I loved the first Rite of Passage game; the last one I was quite ambivalent about. Again it's usually the story that draws me in and makes a difference whether it's run of the mill, forgettable, or memorable. This one will certainly stay with me, and I wish we could see more in future of Omni.
Graphics were as usual with this developer top-notch. I did not see any comparison in screens to the Beyond game (which I enjoyed as well, but IMO this game is much better). Outside of a silo and barn, there is no comparison at all, nor with the storyline. I personally enjoyed this game much better because the Beyond game felt more like an interactive movie. This one, to me, is a very good adventure style game, and not nearly the kind of character dialogue seen in the Beyond game. (I tried the dialogue on both settings available in the options, and frankly didn't find any significant difference between them). Cutscenes were not particularly long, added to the story, and did not feel like they were added to lengthen the game at the expense of the gaming itself.
The game was not particularly difficult, but the level of challenge in the puzzles was enough to make me ponder in a few of them and use my noggin, and although there were a few that were very easy, for the most part I still felt satisfied after solving the majority.
The developer continues to be innovative, providing interactivity in HOPS and types of puzzles that we have not seen before. Well done! Definitely a strong point of this developer, and a strong point in this game as well.
I've been a BF member since around 2008 or earlier, have played hundreds of HOPS and adventure games, and rarely write a review or comment. But, this one deserves it. I continue to appreciate what this developer brings out, and though there were a couple games they made in last year or so which I thought were perhaps becoming a bit like all the rest mass offerings in this genre, I feel in this latest Rite of Passage installment they are right back on track. Thank you for a very enjoyable last couple days in interacting with this lovely story. Definitely recommended.
