I enjoyed playing this game thus far. I felt like I was a part of the fairytale. So this has been fun for me. The scenery is absolutely exquisite. So bright & vibrant, (at least so far). The HO scenes are ones that have given you the objects beforehand. Then you must figure out where their best match is. Totally acceptable to me. The mini games have not been difficult. Nice challenges. The storyline so far has been based on a Cinderella-type story in which the Lady has left her shoe behind. It is up to us to find her and unite the Prince & her together. But instead of evil stepsisters being involved and having to be home by the stroke of midnight, she receives a letter from an owl about her father being hurt. I'm enjoying it so far and can't wait to see how it all ends. Definitely a keeper!
Rescue a young girl from the Penumbra Motel. Solve puzzles, unravel a long standing mystery of death and disappearances in this heart-pounding adventure game!
I've only being playing HOG for a few months now and this is the first time I've played a HOG that had no HO scenes. I found that interesting, but absolutely fine with me. Some games have ABSOLUTELY TOO MANY and it takes away from the storyline. But this one was perfect in that aspect for me. The storyline was an interesting one. But not necessarily a strong one, in my opinion. The ending left room for a sequel if they choose to do one. And although I am recommending this game, I think they should made the ending more definite. I did like the fact that you had to accumulate certain things in the game to be able to access certain doors. Very interesting. The mini games were simple to somewhat challenging. The hint meter took about a minute and a half to charge. But it was interesting because the hint meter was a b&w televison set. I thought that was cool. The visuals were good overall. It had a dark theme to it, (which was appropriate), but it didn't hinder you from looking for the things you needed to complete the game. There is no map at all. But you don't really need one. I think the only ones this game is NOT recommended for are those who like bright & vibrant colors throughout. Otherwise, I think you should at least check it out.
I give this game 4 stars. I enjoyed the storyline. It is basically about a child's innocence being a strong energy source and being at its strongest between his 6th & 7th birthday. It has an interesting twist at the end, which I thought was great. The challenges of the mini games were not too hard. In fact, I think most were easy to figure out. The minus with that though is that you had to either figure out what you were supposed to do YOURSELF, or hit the hint button to figure out the game. And it DOES take away from your hint meter time. A map is provided to show you your current location and if there is a task for you to do there. However, it is not an interactive map, which I disliked, because there will be times when you are constantly going back & forth. That did not make it fun. The visuals were absolutely beautiful & sharp. You really feel like you are in that location. Overall, I think most will enjoy this game. Take a chance and see for yourself.
The Brothers Grimm have assigned the task of revealing the truth behind missing children in the town of Arbourshire; it is up to you to discover the secrets of the Fairy Tale Mystery, before it is too late.
I can only give a limited opinion at this time since I have only played the trial version. So with that said, so far the game is good. I am sure I will purchase it, but not right away. It's an interesting Brothers Grimm story thus far in which the childrens' souls have been taken by some Puppet Master. He has been able to control the adults as well. The town is in an uproar and is ready to spill blood and do whatever it takes to find these missing children. It is up to us as a Brothers Grimm detective to solve the case. The visuals aren't as sharp as I like them. But they're not vague and cloudy either. So far, the environment is a dark one. But it is expected since it is a Brothers Grimm story. But it's not so overbearing that you have much difficulty in your HO scenes. There is no map of any kind. But the hint meter does seem to fill up rather quickly. The mini games thus far are not difficult to master. The diary is only for maintaining information that has already occurred and for magical messages sent by the Brothers Grimm organization. But not for providing further hints or clues as to what you should do next as compared to other diaries in other games. But you won't need it for that anyway because any tasks you need to do next are not difficult to figure out. It's more of a common sense thing. Overall, thus far, I would recommend the game. Play the trial and see if it fits your tastes.
This is one of the best games I have EVER played! Everything about it was spectacular! There are so many positive things about this game. The visuals were sharp. It was so fun to be able to participate in Houdini's, (as well as the other magician's), tricks. It was like you were part of a magic show, playing a game, and a detective with a mystery to solve - all rolled up in one! The storyline was cohesive and kept the story moving along at a steady pace. There were different levels of challenges, whereas you have your standard HO scenes, clover leaves to gather for extended extra HO scenes at the end of the game, and of course your ravens to find to accumulate hints. Some may not particularly like that particular feature of the game. I wasn't certain I would. But they were plentiful enough where you wouldn't run out of them. But if you did, check this out - THERE IS AN EXTRA GUIDE TO HELP YOU EVERY STEP OF THE WAY! That was totally freakin' awesome! You had your standard diary that told of your thoughts and events. Then there was the other guide that told you everything else - including where the clovers were, the ravens, how to successfully complete the mini games and how to get through the tricks if you needed assistance. This game was totally enjoyable and perfect for any levels of expertise. YOU HAVE TO BUY THS ONE! You will NOT be disappointed!
This game was good overall. The visuals were sharp as I like it. The HO scenes were reasonable & not dark & hard to find. The storyline was interesting in itself because it had quite a few twists & turns in it. So you had to definitely be aware of what's going on. I was lost here & there because it had been a while between me playing the trial version & actually purchasing it. When the game ended, it ended. I was disappointed with how it ended because, to me, there was nothing extra. It was kinda like you come out on top & you win, but there is no prize at the end. No teaser. No epilogue of any sort. It just ended and that was it. Based on that alone, I would normally say it's not worth it. But everything else was pretty much cool. So I guess I would recommend it.
Another great game in the Haunted Legends series. Although I have only played the free trial thus far, I could have bought this game without playing it. Haunted Legends always has good games for us to play. This one, so far, has not been disappointing. S.G. is back to causing mischief. And I am enjoying chasing him down! So this game, for me, is fun! The visuals aren't sharp, but pleasant. The challenges & HO scenes are somewhat easy, and the storyline is cohesive. So far there seems to be no "continuation" from the previous games. Each game is "fresh" and the storyline is unique for each game. S.G. just happens to be the primary culprit for each game. If you are already familiar with any of Haunted Legends' games, you will not be disappointed. If this is your first time, you will enjoy it. Play it & buy it!
I don't have a whole lot to say. I did play the trial before I purchased it & decided to buy it. It did have a map. However, it wasn't interactive. At certain times throughout the game, assistance was given, as a portal, to send you to a location where you could use your collected tools. That was very helpful. The 4 criteria were met. But in my opinion, it was all average. I do, however, still recommend you play the game first & then decide.
This game will be enjoyed by any and all who purchase it. It is second in a Grim Tales series, but second to no other HOG. Other than the 5 star ratings in all of the rated aspects, the interactive map was excellent as well. Not only could you jump to where you were needed, it also let you know where you have been, haven't been, and what task is needed in each area that was previously searched. Although there was no diary, the written "thoughts" were enough to help you move along through the story. The storyline was cohesive and stuck to the original Grim Tales format by using the main character's memories to help you solve the puzzles and save the day! This is one game that is a favorite to many, as well as myself, and it will be to you too. So go and get it - NOW!
Overall, I liked this game. I took advantage of the BOGO free deal Christmas weekend. So it was worth it. I didn't play the prequel to this game. And from how the reviews look, I'm not going to waste my time with it - not even for free. But this one was cool. The visuals were good, not great. I'm guessing the storyline is ok. But I can't say for certain because I didn't play the first game. However, it provided me with enough information to know that it was a continuation of the first game. I liked the fact that it did have a map. However, it wasn't interactive. I thought the ending was a little weak. It does provide enough mystery whereas there may be another installment to this game. I would say definitely play the trial first. Then decide. But I do recommend it.
