this is probably the best ND game i have played, or at least in the top three. the setting was creepy and atmospheric, the characters were well voiced and the overall game was just gorgeous. i loved the puzzles and enjoyed most of them - but some of them made little sense. the very last one had clues that were illogical, which is my only real complaint about the game. i had to resort to a hint system from a walkthrough, which i hate to do. other than that, i adored it - worth the very low price.
I recommend this game!

so much fun! i adored the mysterious atmosphere, the gorgeous setting, and all the attention to detail. the puzzles were fantastic and they really taught me something about Egyptian history. i was sad when the game ended. it's a tricky one - playing on Master level will mean you really need to work your brain, and there are no skips, so be warned!
I recommend this game!

I have come to expect a great deal from Nancy Drew Games, and this game did, in some ways, stand up to scrutiny. It was well made, fairly well acted, and challenged me (which is the point for me - no challenge, no fun.)
That being said this game, unlike most ND games, was very linear. If you did not do things in a precise way, you might find that you cannot progress, and are left confused. Most games allow a certain flexibility in that arena, but not this one; I sadly had to use a walkthrough. On that score; if you prefer HINTS to outright ANSWERS then try typing the game name and then UHS for Universal Hint System (eg; walkthrough Nancy Drew Deadly Device UHS). I had to use it more than once to give me hints to move in the right direction because of the problem with linear progression. (it will eventually tell you the full answer, but gives a lot of hints first. Those who like to figure it out themselves will most likely appreciate the site.)
The last puzzle was simply ridiculous; as if they were thinking "How can we make this Amateur level puzzle a Master level puzzle? Oh! I know! Make it unnecessarily complicated and make it look nothing like the instructions!! Yeah! That'll do the trick!" Though I love challenge, I do prefer things that are logical, and not made difficult simply to be difficult. The last puzzle seemed to me to be illogical, and simply annoying.
I usually give ND games at least a four out of five, but this one just did not rate. The claustrophobic atmosphere and the dependence on linear progression (not to mention the dumb last puzzle) really brought it down for me.
Still, a better game than many, and worth the low price to play. Good characters, many amazingly fun (and rewarding if you love the feeling of solving something really difficult) puzzles to figure out, and a good dollop of history and science to boot. I truly learnt something, loved many of the puzzles, and enjoyed many days of playing (about four hours a day over several days.)
If you like ND, have a sharp mind, have patience, and like a challenge definitely give it a try.
I recommend this game!

This game is gorgeous and yes, a bit creepy. I played in the hardest level, and found it quite difficult. I love that - if I'm not challenged, I'm bored. The story is unique, the characters are well voiced, and the game play is logical.
There are no skips however, so anyone not willing to stick through a puzzle should give this game a miss. In the easier level there are hints and other kinds of help, while in the more difficult level you get no help at all.
If you like ghost stories, and are interested in a really challenging puzzle game, definitely give this a try.
I recommend this game!

This is the game I have been looking for - after playing Brink of Consciousness: Dorian Grey Syndrome, I have been listlessly wandering from game to game, from disappointment to disappointment.
Upon finding Final Cut: Death on the Silver Screen, I discovered that the game is very much like Dorian Grey, in that the quality is truly excellent, the story is fun, and the objects you are looking for make sense. No birds conveniently dropping a key for you, no "the mysterious gem is for some reason in the neighbour's bathroom cabinet" nonsense. This game is very well thought out, and every new door opened is exciting. You must work for each new discovery, and it's always a good pay-off.
An equal mix of hidden-object scenes and puzzles, that all truly fit the situation. The hidden objects are in the jumbled back-stage world of movie sets, while the puzzles are most often intricate locks on forbidden doors. Some are challenging, while others are fairly easy. You can skip, if you like.
There are two modes offered, Casual and Challenging, but no mode that takes skipping or hints off the table altogether.
The voice acting is not as well done as in Dorian Grey, but it still works very well for the game. The graphics are lovely, and the art work is simply gorgeous. The colours are clear and edges are clean and precise. I didn't find anything too dark or out of focus. Art Deco and movie sets from different eras work together to make it a world I truly don't want to have to leave.
The music is fantastic, and exciting. It fits very well with the story, and changes with each new area explored. It doesn't intrude, but it does give an extra something to the game play.
I am almost at the end of the game, and wish I hadn't spent the whole day playing - because I wish I had saved some of it for tomorrow!
So far, I have played for about five hours, and if you are an expert, you may finish in about that time. If not, this might give you up to eight hours of play.
If you like intelligent, well thought out games and beautiful life-like quality graphics, with fun puzzles and HOS, then I think you will be very happy with this one.
I recommend this game!

I finished the game in three and a half hours - if you are good at games, you will too. This is not an easy game though, it requires thought and it rewards you when you get it right. If you enjoy a grim atmosphere with a creepy feel, then you will like this game a lot. The music was one of the things I liked best about the who thing. Fun, engrossing and worth it, I think.

this game is great for kids, probably best for kids 8 and up. that being said, i really enjoyed it.
the HOS are well done and challenging, with a mix between "find lots of one thing" and the regular hidden object style. no junk piles at all. the games were fun, inventive and some that i wish i could play again (cosmic pinball anyone?) many of them i have never seen before, which really impressed me. the level of challenge varies, which is nice. some are easy, while others are quite a challenge, which i love.
the music is likeable (with the exception of the organ music in the medieval age. yikes.) the characters are well voiced by real actors, who clearly had a blast making the game. it is very much geared to kids, who will get a laugh from several of the characters. the game is really long - which i love! a good value for the price. the overall feel of the game is light, fun and engaging. the graphics are really pretty, clear and bright.
on the cons side, there is no way to skip any puzzle, and the hint button takes a while to recharge. while i like the challenge in that, some may not. you also must make it to the end of a chapter to save, which isn't all that hard, as the chapters are short. but if you quit in the middle, you will have to start at the beginning of the chapter again. as well, if you have no patience for something aimed more at kids, give this game a miss. it is def a kids game, with the feel of a Saturday morning cartoon - albeit a really well made one.
overall, i am really pleased that i bought this game. i was feeling blue, and it picked me up. and i just love Dino.
I recommend this game!

Just my favourite game on this site. The music, the voice-overs, the challenge, the creativity and atmosphere, all made this a game I didn't want to end. I found the whole game logical, and creative. It respects the intelligence of the player and draws you along. I couldn't stop playing. The voice acting is just superb, and the music is haunting while being exciting. It is a bit grim in places, but not graphic. Give yourself a treat and try it.
And Mr. Developer? I want a sequel!!! Please??

A fun, atmospheric game that will entertain you. It isn't the most challenging game, but it does require you to think a bit. If, like me, you like the harder games, go with the "Adventure" mode. The music is beautiful, and the art work is simply lovely. The voice overs are a bit hit and miss, but the main character does fairly well. There is some humour, some scary-ish bits, and lots of charm. Puzzles were a mixture of all kinds, and were bright, fun and creative. If you want a fun romp for a rainy Saturday, get this and enjoy yourself.
