I read the other reviews here and wasn't sure after reading them what to expect. Yes the content is pretty much the same as before. No new buildings, no new challenges, weak storyline. But as with other Envoy games there is a ton of playtime. You won't be done with this one in just a few hours!
It has gotten harder to make gold time on relaxed, but certainly not impossible. As with all RE games you have to think about what you're doing and not just look at the obvious. That pirate who wants a ton of gold? Do you really need to pay him at all? Or can you just destroy a building and repurpose that building lot?
I didn't find an overabundance of leprechauns or need to tear down the same building twice, or find any level impossible to finish. If the devs are reading these comments, toss in some new stuff for RE 5! I'm not unhappy with this outing, but I found myself going from scene to scene for the challenge not because I wanted to see what happens next, or what new challenge I"d have with a newly introduced set of island characters or to unlock a new set of buildings. You can get away with that once and keep me in your corner, do it twice and even with the dearth of decent TM games I'll pass.
A few new sprites for characters and buildings in the next outing, maybe have aliens land in the Kingdom looking for a nice place to live, something more than building a ship at a chapter ending, and I'll be super happy.

While there is nothing really new in the game mechanics - chop wood, build stuff, pick up stuff - at least they got it right! You can flag tasks, even ones you don't have the resources for at the moment. As soon as you do have those resources, your servant scurries off to complete the task. Nice touch.
Music is good, the gameplay is clean and fast, the levels are fairly easy but with a balanced progression from easy to harder. I hate the games that toss in a really hard level preceded by a really easy one and followed by one that my cat could beat with random mouse taps.
Doesn't have a trophy room for achievements. Story is pretty ho hum, but other than that it's a well balanced game and ity's not a HOG! YAY
I recommend this game!

Not sure what some of the other reviews were talking about, I found this game fun to play and not hard to understand at all. The story line was a bit different than most, better developed. The mix of match three, challenge matches, drop the object and get the key into the right spot kept it from being boring.
The graphics were right for the game and so was the music. I wish there had been tool tips on the power ups, I forgot what some of them did after the first time they appeared with the instructions on how to use them. A little trial and error and it all worked out.
First time Match 3 players should probably work their way up to this one. It is a bit more difficult than many others out there, but not hard if you have played more challenging Match 3's. For example there isn't the "clear everything in this column/row" sort of power up. You may get a diagonal match powerup instead. They are also color coded so you need to watch your matches to fill them. Same with the challenge modes. Your goal is to not only charge your color (offensive) but take away your opponents color (defense). In challenge mode the opponent doesn't wait, it isn't turn by turn based, it's fast and furious.
All in all a good game. Balanced gameplay, not boring, decent story for the more experienced player.

Finally - a TM game that is more than just gathering and building. Shoot - I'd give it 4 stars just for that.
But the developers obviously took some time on this game. The graphics are fresh, the storyline is decent, the text is grammatically correct and so far I have run into no spelling errors. Picky? Maybe, but if you want my money then you should at least spend enough time making sure you've spelled things correctly and your sentences actually make some sense.
This is also a great game to introduce kids to RPG's and TM's at the same time. The villains - for the most part - are dispatched in a non violent manner. Most of the "quests" require solutions other than bashing something with a sword, and the gameplay is simple enough for even a younger kid to figure out.
To win all the stars will require some thought and strategy, especially on the challenge difficulty.
It's funny without cracking worn out jokes or walking the line of being offensive to one group or another. The audio is well done - not obtrusive. The voices are also well done, no guttural shouts, dialog is clear and understandable (except for spells and that's ok).
It's not super challenging, but it does take effort to get the best time. All in all a well polished game and a nice entry into the TM arena, an area too long dominated by the same old same old Frenzy or Dash genres. I look forward to more games from this devel team.

If you have played any of the Be A King games, you'll instantly recognize this game. Even the background sounds are basically the same including the dude that says something like "How Many" when you complete a goal.
Instead of Knights you have a Sheriffs, the houses and buildings are western in flavor instead of medieval, but it isn't as much fun as the King games and in some places can get pretty annoying.
Things that should be in the tutorial aren't - like needing two workers to complete some buildings. There is no difficulty selection, which would be a nice feature.
It's not a bad TM game, but it's not as good IMO as it's big brother - Be A King.
I recommend this game!

I don't which is the most irritating part of this game, the floating cursor, the long winded, rude "narrator", the interminable tutorial, or the game play itself. Taken all together these elements make this game one of the worst choices in Big Fish Games. I couldn't wait to hit the trash bin to get rid of this game.
It had possibilities, but the devel team needs to eliminate that floating cursor, redo the narrations so they aren't calling the player rude names, and clean up the game play so it doesn't need an hour long tutorial.

The graphics are quite good, crisp and clean and very well done. The voices aren't annoying even after replaying the same level several times.
The game play is tough and I would not recommend this game for a beginner. This is the first tower game in a long time where I haven't aced the first few levels. And yet, somehow, failure does not take away from the playability. Instead it becomes a true challenge and not a game stopper.
It doesn't come with a tutorial or "learn the game" levels. It starts hard and gets harder. And it becomes addictive very quickly! When my trial expired just as I was beating the last wave of the level after losing it twice, I almost broke my wrist whipping out my credit card.
Maybe it's just me, but this is the first tower game in a long time that isn't a "ho hum" repeat of ones that came before.
Embark on an epic journey across the Chinese Empire and build the greatest structure known to mankind - The Great Wall of China - in this exciting time management game.
This is another game that with two small changes would be a great game.
1. Lack of a timer on resources makes it difficult to use workers efficiently. Not a problem on lower levels but as the grame progresses so does the frustration at not knowing if that ore source is going to renew next or if you have plenty of time to go grab other stuff.
2. Not being able to queue up worker actions. I love it when a TMG has this and when they don't it makes me sad.
I also like the number of workers to be included in the resource boxes - but that's not a deal breaker, just a surprise that's it's missing.
But with so few TMG's out there I'll buy this one anyway. The story line is really well done, and liberally interspersed with historical tidbits. The graphics are great and I like the Oriental flavor. The gameplay is also pretty good, not overly challenging, but not too simple as it progresses.
And the spelling, grammar and punctuation are error free (so far). I know that's not a big deal but it is worth noting, especially with the large amount of text present in the story line. No technical issues either.
There are a few things missing from this game that make it just ok instead of great. Compared to something like Garden Defense it comes up short. No enjoyable characters/defensive weapons just cannons of various types. No unlockable achievements. No story line. Just keep killing trolls until you have enough crystals to buy enhancements. Over and over and over and over....
ah what it could have been - so close and yet not quite there. They should have made the early levels easier on the easy setting so you get some sense of progress especially for new or more casual tower players. They also should have included a better tutorial and maybe a weapon stats log that could be easily accessed.
Stil better than many tower games, just disappointingly short of great.
I still don't understand why I find the King's Smith games so much fun. The animation looks like something a grade schooler would do. The sound track is Greensleeves - how cliche is that? The buying public voices are hilariously "off". Yet I get sucked in to this sequel just like I did the original.
KS2 has even more playability than KS1, adding new features while keeping the game mechanics the same. The story line is ok, but hey we don't play TM games for the story. I wish I knew why this game is so addictive, all I know is I keep going back to it over and over again. Watching those little wagons slide across the screen and haggling with buyers and sellers while fighting the clock to complete the quests is just totally addictively fun.
