The reviews for the CE were 3ish (except for the ones who always give 5's). CE definitely not CE worthy. This story is childish/dumb. Good parts: jump-map, some fun puzzles. My guess is Elephant did it again - brought an old thing off the shelf, tweeked and released. Shame on you! If you can produce Grim Tales: The Vengeance CE - this is the quality we expect! Hint: when you check Reviews - look for the lowest ratings first, I do. Would not waste a Punch on this!
Played Casual for 70 minutes. Elephant graphics pretty, Good jump-map with info on where to go (many rooms in house). Scarab helper, ONLY12 collectibles, NO morphs, HO cursor sensitive, HO objects misnamed: pin/pen, comb/brush, shawl/handkerchief. This does NOT meet today's standards of CE quality, ie: Cadenza...CE, Grim Tales: The Vengence CE, NY Mysteries...CE. Storyline weak. If you just want to jump around - wait for the SE and a free punch.
Played demo for 1 hour. Artist Stephan makes a deal with Death stealing women by painting them. Your job = save them. 3 modes of play; music is OK; Graphics is grainy; Map (although a transporter) tells NOTHING about where you can accomplish something = pretty worthless; 30 morphs. You are so busy following Hint arrows to collect Inventory items that have no continuity with flow of story. Could have been a great game. Can't justify even 1/2 price cost. Try it and see.
The reviews for the CE were awful so I thought I'd check out the SE. Storyline rambles and very wordy. Played for 40 minutes using Hint to know where to go (Map does not indicate). Must agree that this is something ERS has pulled off the old shelf. With so many stupendous games today, I can not even recommend this SE. Try Nevertales: The Beauty Within SE and see how it should be done.
I hate using Hints to find my way around. Being a retired Cartographer, I love maps that are useful and in this day and age will not purchase a game without one.
Your librarian friend wants your help as a journalist – he’s found an ancient book that is still unfinished. Can you save the world in the book before their story ends?
Good story, 4 play modes, adequate map although I forgot to see if it was a Jump-map. Not enough Bling for a CE. But special SALE made me buy it anyway. Enjoyed playing it. Hints worked well.
Professor Ashmore, the same man who so kindly took you in and raised you as his own has been murdered. It’s up to you to find out why, but are you prepared for what truths may be uncovered?
* Two modes of play; I play casual. * Early in Demo collect leafs, found all 5, hope there are more collectibles later. * Excellent Jump-map showing where activities available. * Hint directional and works in HOS. * HOS has items which morph - fun. * Story progressed well. Overall a fun game and pretty intuitive. Give it a try.
Really wanted to like this. Could not even finish the Demo. Worth giving it a try - you might like it. Don't think CE has enough Bling to merit the cost.
