Having played others in the series I thought I would try this one. The game is good and given it is a SE there is voice-over. The story is strong and engaging and the main character is endearing enough to be engaging and the overall storyline is pitched so that it is believable, given that it is a game, and game pace is set just right.
The game has a good mix of puzzles and HO, with the HO scenes having ‘combination objects’ meaning you have to combine two items together in order to garner a third. This makes the HO scenes a change from the normal just finding the objects scenes which other HO games have, though saying that more and more games are having additions in order to keep this genre ‘fresh’.
The game has good graphics and sound and you can alter the settings so that if you don’t have a widescreen monitor then the game can accommodate for that, this is good as it means that for those with a non-widescreen monitor the game won’t look ‘squashed up’, meaning that the game settings adjust to the space available. Most games will do adjust by rote, but it is nice to have the option, also you can have the game ‘windowed’ if you like thus if you want to do other things whilst playing, though I can’t see why you would’ then again you are given this opportunity.
There is the usual choice of game level although here there is only three choices ‘easy’ ‘medium’ ‘hard’ unlike other games that offer more choice. I personally didn’t mind this and chose the medium setting. This brings me to my final point.
Normally in a free hour trial session I don’t complete the demo allowed by the programmer, with this game I did and I would not say I was a particularly advanced player, yes I like this genre of games but I wouldn’t say I was a particular expert or fast player, I did though finish this demo with around 15 minutes left, this has therefore left me with a bit of a dilemma, much as I liked the game and I really did, as it was on an equal or if not better foot then others in the genre, whether it is worth spending a credit, as if I can finish the demo in the space of 45 minutes then how much is there left until the end of the game. I finished two chapters in 45 minutes which is roughly 20 minutes per chapter, if the final 4 chapters only take roughly 20 minutes each then this is only another 1 hour and 20, say 1 hour 30 if the chapters are slightly longer left to play the game, now this to me does not really represent value for money. The other games for me were either slightly longer or I have improved over the time, either way the only way I would recommend this game is if you had a free ‘punch’ to use or it was part of a BOGOHP (Buy one get one half price) or other such offer. For my part I am going to purchase but will wait until a Monday so that I can get an extra ‘punch’.
I recommend this game!

I kinda knew what I was downloading when I downloaded the free trial, but it is even worse than I thought it was going to be. There is no story, no back-ground, no real challenges and if you lose your 'money' your point re-loads endless limitless supplies.
If you win you can gamble your winnings through a game of blackjack or roulette, or the 'gamble a suit' mode.
There are so called 'awards' but as these games are games of luck over skill anyway, if you played the game long enough you would win them all by default, so again can not really see the point in these either.
Apart from that there is not really any more to say, sound evokes the theme of the wild-west and there is speech but nothing outstanding and not worth spending a real money, a credit or any other kind of offer on.
I do not recommend this game at all.

As with others in this series of games, the format follows pretty much the same. This time however it is focusing on the infamous building of Alcatraz and how and why it was the most notorious of all prisons.
As with others in the series you are tasked with building the prison, in small baby steps, with around five ‘training’ levels to get you familiarised with the game, if you are familiar with this style of game unfortunately you are not able to skip these levels, I think this is an oversight as if people have played this style of game then they are going to know how this game works and want to get building as soon as possible, also of course the first five levels eat in to the hour free time.
The game goes back to the ‘horse and cart’ for moving rather than the cars of the previous game, I find this odd as the game starts in the period when the car was just about coming to be, thus from a realistic point of view I would have thought it would have provided auto horsepower.
The game is exactly the same as all the others in the fact that you need to mend roads, hit thugs, open and upgrade buildings, feed (what looked to me like ducks, but why ducks eat cake I have no idea), so the familiarity of the game is there, so if you don’t mind this and want to learn about another iconic building then I would strongly recommend this game.
A good thing this time is that I think the programmers must have listened to previous comments as you are able to garner gems and with these gems you are able to purchase power-ups before each level. These power-ups however are useful, one is for automatic ‘cart-pulling’ which is a good addition as on previous games at times it could be slightly frantic (and boring) having to repeatedly click on all the different carts, so in my opinion this is a good addition. The gems are garnered on how quickly you complete a level, thus if you get three stars then you also get three gems. If on the early ‘easier’ rounds you build up your cache and you don’t use all three for all three bonuses then you can tailor the later rounds to how you want to play.
One slightly negative comment I would give is at the beginning of the game when the scene is being set, the text moves to the next page too quickly on one of the screens, I tried again with a different profile and it was exactly the same, I am aware that this is just ‘flowery’ and scene setting but still it would be nice to be able to read all that the programmer has put together.
As I have said in previous reviews with regards to this game series, then I would recommend it for people who want to learn about the history, or for a young person who is doing a project on that particular building, as whilst yes you can look on varying website and garner the information this makes it slightly more interactive thus making learning ‘fun’.
I would recommend this game, but bear in mind that the format, the sound and speech from the ‘workers’ is exactly the same as before and the graphics are only slightly different. If are bored of this series or have no real appetite for knowing about Alcatraz and the prisoners etc that were contained there within then this game is probably not going to be for you.

This series I feel is getting a tad stale. The premise of match 3 is a genre in itself but it how game developers work within this game-frame. With the meteoric rise in tablet match 3 games, the quirks of this genre are being explored and new and different ways of playing these types of games are making them more innovative and engaging. Sadly the same cannot be said with regards to this series. This is the fourth in the series, though of course there have been others in the same mould, and it plays exactly the same as all the others. The game plays exactly the same, with the chains, the fog, having to match to clear the fog and break the chain, the same power-ups are incorporated into the gameplay and even the non-playable characters are the same. In essence then this is exactly the same game as the previous incarnation just that this has a slightly different story. I like match 3 games and have a lot on my tablet, maybe that is the ‘problem’ in that I have seen the new and innovative ways in which match 3 games have progressed and this to me just seems stuck in the past, no cutesy graphics no ‘candy’ to match, this just seems like the developers are cashing in on previous in the series and the fact that yes the genre is still popular but have released in my opinion a sub-standard half-hearted game.
The controls are ok and the sound is as of the ilk. There is talking on the introduction storyline, but from thereon in it is just text. At least this game you get to ‘find out’ why there is gems all around the university, so this may possibly be the last in the series, in my opinion it ought to be or if it isn’t then it needs a serious overhaul injection if there is going to be a number 5.
Unless you are brand new to this genre or you really really like this game series then I can’t really recommend this game, as there are better match three games out there no matter what the format, tablet, PC, smartphone etc, personally I feel that this particular genre lends itself better to a touch screen, as you can get the intimacy that this sort of genre lends itself to.
I do like match 3 but this is not a good example of a match 3 game.
I don't recommend this game.

Very similar to Gardenscapes in that you have to find objects for customers. The difference here is instead of a backdrop which has a slight comedic effect this one does not really have that just a rather drab career progression back-drop.
I only demoed around 30 minutes, and whilst it all 'plodded' along, there was nothing to 'wow me' and certanily nothing that would make me spend a credit, bonus punch or cash on it.
No sorry not for me, ok if you want a 1 1/2D game but apart from that no I can not recommend the game.

This is not as good as others in the series, and I think the developers are just using the 'the good of the game' in order to put across this game.
The game itself is OK but there is not really much correlation with regards to 'myths' series between this and the others in the series. With other companies that have released others in the series such as the Mystery Tracker series there has been continuity of sorts even though the storyline has been different. With the case of this yes the stories are different in each game, but there was some familiarity whether this is the case of visiting a different country and meeting the culture etc. within that country. Here there was no country visited per se it was more of mythical world, about faeries and fiends, the story was possibly strong enough in its own right to be ‘stand-alone’ but it kind of made me wary of playing future games with this series. There was a slight reference to Ireland owing the leprechauns mentioned with the game, but other than that there was a little bit of Irish music, but there was no real history with regards to Ireland.
The storyline I have already mentioned, the lip sync was up to standard for this genre of game, as was the music and other in-game sounds. The controls worked fine in the most part.
The game took an age to download, though this could have been my connection and the game was a big file well over 1GB, once I had been playing the game there was then an update for the game which resulted in the game having to be re-downloaded. I am unsure what bugs this update fixed as I still found some of the mini-games impossible to complete and I had to ‘skip’, which for a CE edition left a slight bitter taste in my mouth. If it hadn’t been on offer then I would have been very annoyed at having to pay full CE price for this game.
Another thing that I have noticed over recent downloads is that instead of the traditional hour they have now extended this to 90 minutes (not for all games but for a few), this is good but if the game overall is only say 4 hours, an average game length and a decent player may feel slightly ‘cheated’ that they are not really getting their monies worth, thus the game developers may need to think about this before giving the player the ‘extra carrot’. Also if a player who stays on the easy level and follows it as a ‘game by map’, i.e, just follows the map to the next clue, completes that object and moves on, as I did for part of this game, which in my opinion is therefore not a game that really engages the player, the game thus then in my opinion has its faults.
Overall I would only recommend if you have downloaded the free trial and not finished more than half within in that trial, if you do the ‘game by map’ then it would probably be fairly easy to finish the full game within the trial period, thus the developers have probably ‘shot themselves in the foot’ with regards to the extra time given. If it was on offer then yes I would possibly recommend it, but as for an addition the ‘myths’ series this in my opinion hinders the series rather than enhance the series.

Why do wizards need to conform to stereotypes?
This game has two levels of difficulties hard and relaxed, hard is for the seasoned gamer, but even though I enjoy these types of games and have quite a few in my collection, this is tough, even on the earlier levels to master in the ‘gold’ time limit. I would suggest therefore that it might be an idea to start in the relaxed setting and ‘settle in’ as it were to the game and all the different tasks and targets needed in order to complete each of the levels. I suggest this as it can be a bit confusing when you first play the game exactly what to do, yes it is along the same genre as other resource collecting games, but there is slightly more to this which whilst good as it adds strategy and a bit more ‘excitement’ it can initially be slightly confusing as to exactly what tasks need to be completed and by which character.
The game does have a storyline but as usual unlike the HO games which are story-driven, this is just the usual, ‘boy needs to become good’ type of story-line, there is cut-scene interaction and slight occasions whereby the writers have tried to attempt humour, but it doesn’t really fully hit the spot as it were, that said there is nothing inherently bad about the storyline, just nothing out of the ordinary. In the above paragraph I alluded to the fact that it could be confusing with regards for which character to carry out which duties. The main protagonist, the ‘beardless wizard’, has an alter ego, in the guise of a ‘strongman’ this is the character that can mend ‘potholes’ and do the tasks that require the muscle, other games have emulated this and in my mind it somehow seemed to work better in the other games than this and there wasn’t as much confusion. In this game because on the hard difficulty setting the timings are tight you have to remember exactly which character is to be used in which part of the game. In order to get your ‘standard’ top-ups with regards to regeneration of trees, food etc quicker you had to collect flowers, which you then gave to the witch who would convert the flowers to potions which would then help you get aforementioned power-ups, again because the flowers were usually blocked of at the start of the game and you had to clear the path to get to them, if you were then playing on the hard difficultly level, it was neigh on impossible to get the three identical flowers that you needed to create a potion in order for you to get the power-ups to complete the level in the ‘gold-time’, thus in my mind’s eye a slight flaw within the game. Oddly though if you have collected a potion within that level and you wanted to replay the same level in order to get a better time, you could use the potion gained in that level and use it in the same level, this was a nice ‘quirk’ but timings were still tight.
With regards to the resources this was a game whereby you didn’t have to roll your mouse over in order to garner the goods, but you could thus you would have the goods quicker, but if you didn’t roll the mouse you didn’t lose the resources as does happen in some games. As long as you had enough resources you could ‘stack the tasks’ which was useful as this meant that your workers were not ‘idling’ their time away, idol hands are unprofitable hands! There were different tasks within the game which involved combing different resources with different characters in the game in order to drive the game forward, for example in one of the earlier levels you had to place hay for a cow to eat in order for the cow to go to the alter, this was of course after you had cleared all obstacles in its way and ‘daisy’ could see clearly now!
So whilst they were some positives to the game and I will carry on playing (though will have to restart to change to relaxed), there was not really enough incentive for me to try and complete the hard version as even in the earlier levels the timings were tight, thus unusually I couldn’t finish the first few levels with gold time on the hard settings. I will complete in relaxed and will probably enjoy the game as I feel that there was a lot to offer and that the different potions would have elicited different things within the game and I think there would be other characters to unlock, so whilst the game has depth over and above the standard resource collection game, I wouldn’t unless you are very seasoned player of this genre start out in the hard mode, as it may put you off the game for good.
Graphics, sound, music are all standard for this genre and bring nothing new, the graphics are not blocky and load times were not too long, another positive for me being left-handed is that this game kept my system settings in that I have configured the mouse to a left-handed person (changed buttons round), and these settings were ‘honoured’ within the game, you would be amazed how many games don’t do this, it is frustrating to say the least as well as sloppy gamer development.
Overall then I know I have been harping on a bit about the timings and whilst I felt they were tight (not that you would have got that impression from this review), the overall game was good and whilst perhaps not bringing anything new or innovative to the genre, what it does do it brings in the better elements of other games in the genre, such as collecting ‘manna’ to help build gain power-ups, being able to ‘stack the tasks’, and having to change characters in order to complete the levels, all good qualities to have in this genre of game as in my opinion it keeps the player interested and ‘on their toes’ as they have to plan ahead and think about what they need to do in order to complete the level, not as in some of this genre just clear the paths and that is virtually all you have to do.
I would defiantly consider purchasing if you are buying as part of a special BF promotion, but if you like this genre then it defiantly worth considering spending a Bonus Punch Credit or Game Credit on, if you are looking for another challenge in this genre I would say that it is worth paying with money the price of the game.
I recommend this game!

This game is similar to a free game you can find elsewhere on the internet. The game is really a memory test, as you have to memorise all the variations of sushi and serve the correct sushi to the correct customer. The game starts off with relatively easy versions of sushi and progresses so that not only do you have to memorise more complex versions of sushi you also need to make sure that you get the orders out in a timely manner as once you reach the higher levels the tolerance levels of the customers decreases so that orders need to be completed quicker, also customers may order more than one sushi. As with others of this game type you need to make sure that you have the enough of the different components of the sushi, rice, seaweed etc in order to be able to fulfil the orders, if you run out and need to ‘express order’ then this will cost more money. The problem with this type of game as with all games of this type is that if two customers order the same sushi and even though one customer may have been waiting longer than the another, then if the newest customer is sitting nearer the front of the conveyer belt then their order will be fulfilled first, there is no redress to this which I thought given the number of these types of games that they are and all have the same problem, it may have been something that the game developer could have addressed, even if it was an option in the settings asking if we wanted to serve ‘longest’ or ‘newest’ customer first.
The music and graphics were standard for this type of game, suitably ‘Japanese’ but with a Westernised slant.
One slight negative is that the learning curve for the game is fairly steep especially if this is the first time you have played this type of game, if this is the first time then I would strongly recommend that you download the trial first to see whether you are comfortable with the speed of the game and whether you want a game that is in essence just a memory test. There are power-ups and enhancements that you can purchase that will help either you as the ‘chef’ or the customers with ‘fanciful’ power-ups such as a ‘trick knife’ used sparingly in order to increase the customers patience. The problem with these power-ups is that you need to gain money and whilst the first few levels you can gain money fairly easy, the ‘cost’ of the enhancements if fairly steep, thus if you need to reply these levels in order to gain further funds this is possible but you need to fulfil quite a lot of orders in order to garner any additional funds (you only get additional money if you put more ‘till-money’ in then you previously did for that particular round), thus the funds are then what you need to buy the ‘chef’ enhancements.
Overall the game is ok, but one I would only purchase if I as I did there was a BOGOF offer, or you had a credit and there was absolutely nothing else that you wanted to ‘buy’, I personally would not spend a Credit or hard cash on the game as the game does not bring anything new to the table, so to speak and is pretty much ‘bog-standard’ for this type of game.
This game as the title says is a good ‘brain-game’ for testing memory and maybe suited for the younger person, to help with both concentration and memory training but for older teens and adults who want more than what is in essence a 1 dimensional game, I would personally look elsewhere.

This being the fourth in the series then the premise and the story-line should be familiar to all who have played previous in the series. The storyline in this is kind of 'out there' in that there is a prince who job is to search for princesses who have been kidnapped, and would ya know one has been! Now how is that for sheer coincidence.
The storyline whilst a tad 'silly' does try to inject some humour and longevity in the game by people hopefully wanting to continue the game because of the story. For me however I think I am going to pass this one by. I have a feeling that this series is starting to get a little 'tired' and that the developers of probably trying to milk ye olde cash cow.
The game is as per others in this genre clear the roads, collect the relevant items, which in this instance seemed to be a lot of fruit, and complete other tasks.
The point is that for me this genre of gaming style has for me moved on slightly what with the imho excellent Adelantado trilogy which to me was almost a retail quality release, as this had depth and several different quests and mini-quests to complete aside from the 'clear the road variety'. Also I have been enjoying 'kingdom hayday', which again had moved on and away slightly from the 'clear the road' genre.
The music and graphics were as to be expected for this genre of game style and were nothing special
The bonus bar. to get help such as 'speed boots' or extra resources filled up quickly thus enabled you to complete the levels in 'gold time' though to be honest the timings were rather generous without the bonus and on all the levels I played, played the demo for around 50 minutes, I completed all on gold.
The one main negative for me was the fact of the 'moving world', you could turn this off, which I did, but this 'feature' was to me rather a negative thus a waste of time, as it didn't add anything to the game-play but in my view mainly detracted.
Overall I can't recommend this in the series, especially if you have had others in the series, for me there is not enough 'new' in this game to warrant a purchase, except at a push if there is a BOGOF sale or you have a spare 'bonus punch credit' to use, though then I would still recommend others.
Overall the reason for the fairly low score is that as the review title states the cash udders are drying up!
I don't recommend this game.

I know this is billed as an HO game and to that extent it fulfills the brief, however this could have been so much more. The game is a little dark (with regards to the storyline), and the HO to find in the 'junkpiles' are of an equally dark theme, grenades, guns knives etc. I found the whole thing slightly disturbing. I have played other HO games which have had a 'dark' theme but they have also had a better story line and more interactivity. The scenes that you enter seem to be just enter a room do an HO scene come out enter another room and repeat. There is the occasional mini-game, but in order to gain instructions you have to use a hint which I found unfair as you could not really figure out what you needed to do.
The mini-games were fun, but not enough for me to overlook the misdemeanours, as I saw it, of the other elements of the game.
The sound was of average quality for this genre. The graphics were chunky and cartoonesque but nothing special.
I can't really recommend this game to anyone as if you are new to the genre or a younger player then this game would perhaps be a little disturbing and not a good introduction to the genre when there are many more out there that give this genre a much better light.
I don't recommend this game.
