Out of all the ND games I've played this is my least favorite so far. It just seemed to be lacking...substance. The puzzles were bland, the storyline was blah, and game was on the shorter side with a lot of back and forth on the map with not a whole lot going on. My taste may not be the same as others so, here is a list of games I've played in the series starting with favorite to least liked. 1. Warnings at Waverly Academy ( Got me hooked on ND# 2. Phantom of Venice 3. Legend of the Crystal Skull 4. White wolf of Icicle creek & Secret of Shadow Ranch #Tie# 5. Shadow at Water's Edge #the Creepiest one, LOVED the story, but hated all the boring number puzzles# 6. Curse of Blackmoor Manor #the Bullseye game frustrated me, never finished it.) 7. Creature of Kapu Cave

First, the good points. What this game has going for it in spades is Atmosphere. Developers really did a nice job with capturing a CREEPY atmosphere with use of music and sound effects. It's like the Shining meets the Ring. Also, there was a scene in the basement that really made me jump out of my seat. On the negative side, the way this game was set up presented a lot of time limitations in what you could get done in any given day and didn't always flow in a logical sequence, had to hit the walkthrough a couple of times to know what to do next as the hints aren't very helpful. Hated the map, and a good bit of the puzzles where not really my cup of tea and boring. The story was cool, but gameplay was not always enjoyable. Still, not the worst out of the handful of Nancy Drew games I've played. Curse of Blackwood Manor takes that honor and has officially turned me off from trying any more of the old ND games.

This is my third ND game out of the handful that I've played so far. I really love how the developers captured the vibe and spirit of New Orleans with this game. Kept wanting some of that gumbo while playing Bess! The level of challenge is up there when it came to solving puzzles, but fun with the exception of one LONG quest involving multiple trips to cemetary which became boring. Having that checklist was quite handy, as there was so much to do and keep track of. Having a CELL phone to call Ned for hints was also convenient and useful, a feature that is not available in the older games in the series. Anyway, challenging game but not my favorite. Also, vaguely reminded me of the Skeleton Key.

I'm actually new to the Nancy Drew series, and this was the 2nd game out of the handful that I've played so far. I loved the characters incorporated in this game. Their colorful personalities along with accents made it quite fun to interact with them since you do a LOT of interacting and talking as with all ND games. Never been to Italy, but felt like I was there. Being able to travel the map by foot, train, or gondolier was a nice touch. I really love the total immersion into solving the mystery that this game offered. Unique adventure and puzzles to solve. My second favorite, and I'm hooked. Looking forward to playing the rest of the series.

This was my first encounter with a Nancy Drew game, and out of the handful that I've played so far, it's my favorite. There is a LOT of talking with characters during investigation as with all the ND games, so I'm not sure if it would appeal to those who want the instant gratification of standard adventure/puzzle games where you have minimal character iteraction and more exploring and HOs. This has no hidden object scenes and as with all ND games, it goes by the Who Dunnit theme and the puzzles offer moderate to difficult challenges and total immersion in the story while solving the mystery. I'm hooked now and look forward to playing the rest of the series. I personally loved this game, but it may not be everyone's cup of tea.

This is a short game that last about 2 1/2 hours. The level of challenge is minimal when it comes to puzzles and hidden objects but it makes up for those shortcomings in entertainment. Unique game that was a lot of fun to play. The best feature was ease of play in regard to the map that you could hop around on once you get your sneakers. Areas of interest on the map light up as well, so you never get lost and always know where to go.
Storyline, graphics, and sound are all impeccable. The length of game is a around 6-7 hours. Visually, it is much better than the Dreamless Castle and the level of challenge is taken up a notch. I love the whole premise of this series and the fantasy world built around it. That's why I was So Disappointed that such a beautiful game was ruined with repetition of the same puzzles and mini-games Over and Over again. (arranging picture pieces or object pieces or matching pairs) Its DRAINS the joy out of the game. What hidden objects there were, was mostly Fragmented with a handful of regular H.O Scenes. 1/2 way into the game I got so bored with puzzles, that the game just stopped being fun and it became more about just finishing it, to see the ending.
3 1/2 Stars. An enchanting little game that sucks you into a world of magic with faries, goblins, and dragons. Good for kids or adults who like fantasy. It's mostly a puzzle adventure game with maybe 3 or 4 hidden object scenes. Game length was about 2 1/2 hours. It's worth a credit or purchase for those lazy days when you're not looking for a challenge but just want to play.
What a cool game. Storyline and different twist on puzzles and hidden object games (finding 12 like-shaped objects) kept it moving and interesting. Always wanting to know what happens next. This is more of an adventure game than HOG, but it's very nicely put together and you can easily immerse yourself in the story. The house has a magical feel to it and as I was exploring the different levels, I kept thinking I was going to find Edward Scissor Hands behind one of the doors. I kept picking up a Tim Burton vibe (maybe it's just me :))The level of challenge is on the easy side, but it's just really fun to play and worth the purchase.
Fantastic game, havn't been this intrigued and entertained in a while. What this game lacks in challenge, it more than makes up for in storyline, creativity, and freshness of puzzles and adventure. Graphics and music were perfectly suited. It reminded me of another game called F.A.C.E.S but meshed with the 7 deadly sins. Kudos to the developers.
