This is Pong 1.2, which makes this the second video game ever created. I loved this [the original] game and spent hours and hours playing, but only because there was nothing else to play. These graphics are only a slight improvement over the originals.....barely. I can't believe this isn't "free to play", since it has to be public domain by now. I must admit that it was fun to play again....for about 5 mins.
I don't recommend this game.

I give it a 5 because it has to be rated in comparison to other games of this genre and it therefore deserves the 5.
That being said, I wish there was a mode where there were no mistakes! You could click on any tile and change it to either blank, X, or filled in with whatever color you are working on. This way if you accidentally hit the wrong square (which I often do, but don't consider this an error), you could just click the square again to the correct setting. The challenge would actually be greater, because when you do make an actual error, you wouldn't realize it until you get to the end and things don't fit together properly. Then you would have to go back to find the error, or start over. The game would end when all squares are filled in properly. Alas, this is not the case and we must be happy with what we have, which is still very good.
Remember, don't be a Reckless Rater just to become a Key Contributor, don't give fives just to be at the top to get more helpful votes. It's a disservice to other fishes and the devs who actually deserve the five stars.

When the Adventure game was turned into an HOP, because they were simply too hard, the pendulum swung the other way and games have become much too easy. This game has found a happy medium, which is what the original change to HOP was about .... I think. There is very little hand holding, yet for the most part the actions have been logical, except for shining your flashlight against a cliff, in a certain spot, for no apparent reason. The HOPs are great, in that they actually hid the objects in plain site. If you look hard enough, you will find that they are quite visible, once you know where they are of course. After all, isn't "trying to find that one last item" the reason we play HOP's? The last game I played was so easy, I was clicking the objects as fast as I could read the list!
By far my favorite aspect of the game is the scenery. I found the graphics to be quite good, though I've seen better. The characters and dialogue box were a bit outdated, especially the font used which made it look even older. It didn't really look like DOS font, but it reminded me of that epoch. Where the game excels is the imagined visuals of a far off land, though we have scene the giant mushrooms in the past, like a hundred years past in Alice. One of the things I like is when the game controls don't take up too much room on the screen. Best if the panel hides completely, but at least they made it very small, which enhances the emersion factor x3, or maybe x5, I couldn't decide.
I have to get back to the game now. Yes, I bought it and recommend that you do the same. If nothing else, it will support a dev who is willing to go outside the standard script!
I recommend this game!

This review is after only two hours of gameplay, unfortunately it is also after completing the game. I have never been a fast player, as I like to look at everything and take my time. Still, the game only lasted two hours. What a rip-off. Just take my money and run. We'll see about that next time ERS puts out a game.
I'm quite upset about this and I also blame BFG. I expect some value for what I've paid for and I feel that BFG cheated me on this one. The only way that I would recommend the game is to wait for the SE and use a coupon.
The game itself was okay at best, but way too easy and predictable as has been mentioned already. As far as helpers go, I think it was some sort of tree golem, not a frog. Whatever it was is better than cutesy, so they stepped up a little in that area. Please don't waste your money on this pseudo CE. This is most likely the shortest game I own, in a collection of at least a thousand games. I think that says it all. BFG, if your in the mood, would you please send me a coupon for a free CE game. Thank you.;
I don't recommend this game.

This was, and presumably still is, a great game. I only had a couple of things that were bothersome. Depending on the color of the tiles being used, there were times when I thought a tile was already checked, when in reality I had smashed it and the background color made it appear to be a tile in the picture. When starting a new picture, the tiles are a tan color. Most of the tiles when checked turn white (with many exceptions to this). For some reason the devs decided that when you hover the mouse over a tile, the tile turns a shade of white almost the same as the tiles which you have already clicked. To make it more confusing, this hovering white is also similar to the tan of the unchecked tiles. This was the cause of several mistakes for me.
I like the way that the numbers for the lines and columns change to red when the mouse is over that line or column, as it makes it easier to make sure you are on the correct line. The only problem is that after you are able to cross off one of the numbers, it remains there, but only in a slight shadow. This shadow is visible when the numbers are their normal yellow, but when they turn red, the crossed out numbers become virtually invisible, which once again caused several errors because I simply could not see the numbers.
This is not an HOP, so we shouldn't have to work so hard just to see the numbers. I never use hints and try to finish without any mistakes, so when I do make a mistake, caused by one of the aforementioned issues, I find it quite annoying.
These are problems that fish have been complaining about for a long time and would be so easy for the devs to fix, yet for some reason they choose not to.
Did I mention that other than these issues, it's a very good game which I recommend highly.
I recommend this game!

Based on completed game. Once again, what could have been a great game was ruined by all of the hand holding. I couldn't believe when I saw little pictures scratched into the surface of many objects, depicting what action should be taken. For example, you come across several crisscrossed chains and right in the middle there is a drawing of bolt cutters cutting the chains. Glad they did this because I was completely stumped. I had the bolt cutters in my inventory, but had no idea what they were for. This happens over and over during the game. It's just another interactive movie. Seems as though most devs feel that we are so stupid that we can't complete the game, even with a hints and a strategy guide, so they also need to draw pictures for us dumb westerners. The strategy guide along with morphing objects and a handful of statues are all that make this a CE. As for the strategy guide, has anyone ever used one to develop a strategy for playing the game? It's fine to include it for those times when a game makes absolutely no sense, but why don't we call them a walkthrough which is what they are. Once again, they want to give us the answers without making us feel stupid, so they call it a strategy guide, whatever. More and more games are getting dumbed down since they changed the adventure game to a hidden object game. I hope I don't sound negative!
I don't recommend this game.

In the fashion of one square panted fellow I know, there are two levels of humor in this game. This allows me to play with my 8 yr old daughter and we both have a good laugh, but at different things. For example, right at the beginning, in the dungeon cell across from yours, you run across an ex-beauty queen and her dog who are now both skeletons. The dog looks so funny, but after hundreds of years the "beauty queen" is still wearing some clothes which include a bra left holding the silicone implants. This is the subtle humor intended for adults which the game is filled with, however it is still ok for kids since you really have to look for these subtle tidbits. Love it.
I recommend this game!
