Enter the world of Drawn. Explore the Painted Tower and unravel its mysteries on your quest to save the hope of the kingdom. Can you reach the top of the tower?
THE CONCLUSION: Alright now, there's probably some folks who just adore this game with all of it's aspects, but unfortunately, it just wasn't THAT perfect for us. Let's go into details, shall we?
It was refreshing to have these beautifully drawn visuals for a change. We mostly play the HOG Adventure games and they tend to often have quite similar visuals. We both are like big kids, we love cartoons, children stories and being all around goofy. So we loved the whole kiddie feel in it.
The narrator of the game - a character in the game - makes the game so much more believable and immersive. It sets that mystic tone to the whole journey. Makes it deeper. The whole core idea of using drawings for the whole look and for interacting was a great and unique idea.
The puzzles are surprisingly challenging! In a good way. The story... well it's sorta straightforward and ends quite abruptly, even though the journey is full of lovable details and characters. I was aware of the fact that this is only the first part of Drawn and that the story will go on, but my wife didn't. She hated the way the story was cut in the end, like she usually hates that sorta endings. I'm not that bothered by it, since I knew that there's gonna be more and had my mind set to that.
Personally, one of my complains sorta reside in the ending too. Only in the ending I had that feeling of "Ooh, things are gonna get interesting now!" and then... it ended. I wish there were more of those moments in the actual journey that had the sense of danger, peril and surprising thrills. At least the story and narrator's speech along the way made it sound so much more dangerous situation. To me, it didn't get fully delivered.
Oh I mentioned the sparkles! There are sparkling all over. Even if you have done all you needed in that spot, it might still sparkle and confuse you: "There's still something I'm suppose to do here?" If you take it as a way of making you think in more complicated manner and to purposely bluff you, then yeah I can get that. In the end, I'm not quite sure what to think of that. Also, be prepared to look carefully for all scattered items, or you'll be pacing around the levels of the tower constantly, finding that missing item you missed.
So this pretty much now means that we must pick up the next part to see if things start to get more interesting. In the end, we both enjoyed the game very much. The raw drawn visuals, speech parts, the puzzles, the children's book story, it all was really nice and fun. It just had those slight problems which didn't make it an excellent game for us.
I recommend this game!

Peggle Deluxe
Do you have what it takes to become a Peggle Master? Take your best shot! Ready, aim... bounce!
I give you... the Good and the Bad and the Conclusion:
+ Easy learning curve + Simple, but fantasticly fun + Suits all ages + Fun cartoony graphics + Intro theme song + Hours of gameplay
- If I have to say something, doesn't add that much extra to the original version
THE CONCLUSION: All you need is your left mouse button and some eye to see where the trail of ball would go... or just plain luck. The times I lost in two player game when a friend hits a jackpot with his eyes closed. It's almost like poker in my head. You need certain strategy and experience to see ahead, but luck will play a big part here too. Every level can be very different and surprising to you. The different Masters (which you unlock during campaing) and their special abilities will also add nice variety to the game.
Speaking of levels, you have 55 campaign levels + 75 different challenges varying from "Easy peasy" to "Nearly impossible". The challenges though can be very addictive and add a lot of content to the game.
There is also the Duel mode where you can challenge your buddies for a round. It's great how easy it is for anyone to take a match with you. Often, you even get your... (have to use a synonym) "donkey" handed to you by some lucky shots from the newcomer.
Peggle Deluxe is simply fun for any time of the day, any amount of time, alone or with a friend. If you happen to have those extra 5 minutes while waiting to leave for your yoga class or you have an hour to kill and you just HAVE TO get that 750 000 points challenge done, Peggle will fill that gap for you gladly. Sure you might leave also frustrated since you didn't get anything done good, but hey! That just means you need more practice right?
The amount of playtime depends on just how good you can get!
Return once more to the haunted grounds of Ravenhearst Manor to uncover new details about this poignant saga. What you find could very well be the final chapter of this riveting story-if you escape.
Me and my wife are great fans of Hidden Object Adventure games and we always play them together. Here's what we thought about this one...
I give you... the Good and the Bad and the Conclusion:
+ Stunning visuals and smooth animations + Really challenging and elaborate + The mood that the sounds and the most detailed scenes create + Very interesting story
- Morphing objects / lack of hidden objects
THE CONCLUSION: First of all, this game really isn't for kids or for the faint hearted ones! It can be very qrotesque, disgusting and frightening for some. Me and my wife sure had our own scenes where we really didn't want to return.
But man, is this game great or what! The story is very strong and interesting. Finally there were some really great challenges that forced us to stop playing for the evening and start again with a clear mind next day, just to get further in the game. Like I said, the theme really isn't for everyone, but we didn't get bothered by it. The sounds might cloud your mind a bit though sometimes. The scenes has that strange way of making you feel growingly anxious.
The game mostly is very disturbing and horror themed, but there are some surely funny moments too. Unfortunately, we just go to the group that doesn't really fancy the morphing objects. We prefer the hidden ones. We just sighed everytime those came up and felt it slowed things down and took some fun out of it, hence the small minus in fun factor rating. I think morphs are fine as a bonus, like this one has inside the notebook, but wouldn't want them into the actual game. Oh speaking of notebook, don't expect pretty much any help or clues from there.
All in all, it is an amazing addition to the series! If the theme just hits you, you'll be spending many hours with this one.
ps. stick through the credits for some fun footage ^^
I always play Big Fish games with my wife, so the reviews are usually two for the price of one. ^^
So let's make it simple... I give you the Good the Bad and the Conclusion:
+ The visuals are mostly real good. Even something that stands out animation vice... + Sounds were alright. Does it's job, creates the atmosphere. + The storyline is actually quite interesting. Lots of info for those who love to read every lil detail from your notebook. + Lots to play.
- Too... linear. - Obviousness of the progress (not story vice). - A bit too easy puzzles.
THE CONCLUSION I was about to give 3 stars to this one, but decided to actually pump it up to 4 because of one; the current price slash and two; once you finish the game, you actually do feel a bit better about the game.
With my last review with Haunted Halls: Fears from Childhood, the journey was great, but ending dissapointing. Things went other way around this time. We had really hard time getting into the story and adventuring for the first half of the playtime. The items were so very very easy to put in their rightful places and it just wasn't that interesting. Thankfully, things started to get more complicated towards the end. With the storyline (which ended up being actually real nice and rewarding in the end) and also with the puzzle difficulty level.
It's still... a solid good game. It just didn't offer something that would leave us remembering this one that fondly afterwards. I wish that you would get more items at once and you really have to scratch your head when to use them. Also, when the story is not set into something completely scifi or fantasy - and I mean really far out something odd - I don't want to find items in completely nonsense places and be told exactly what to do. "Hmm, okay, the text up there says: The wall here is bricked. I wish I had DYNAMITE!" So I go to the room next to me and ooooh... there's dynamite sticking out from a ventilation system. o.O
Alright fair enough, I should probably say that this game is probably more suitable for more casual group and for those who don't need those Master Expert Detective difficulty challenged. (Not referring to myself and trying to boost my ego, says the person who got stuck for the longest time in Escape from Ravenhearst, right in the beginning.)
I'm not nagging about this one too much, but just saying. ^^ Captain S. Imple Obvious, signing out.
Me and my wife are great fans of Hidden Object Adventure games and we always play them together. Here's what we thought about this one...
Let's make it simple, I give you... the Good and the Bad and the Conclusion:
+ The imaginative ideas and the visuals + Sounds and music (actual voice acting always makes it a bit deeper experience) + The strange paranormal creepiness + Length of the game + Without spoiling too much, certain toyish part of the game. + Hidden Object parts have those interactive methods of finding the listed items
- Only 1-2 hard puzzles in my opinion - Dissapointing and too obvious ending - Sorta easy... but this is very personal thing in the end
THE CONCLUSION We both loved the whole atmosphere and the interactive payoff with the puzzles. We were all jittery about what will happen after completing this and that task. Truly holds you in like the good Big Fish games do. Sometimes the voice acting is waaaay amateurish, but this one mainly had the children doing the talking and it did work! The journey was thrilling, but the ending lacked the joy. I still recommend it though and we will have to pick up the first part of the serie, since we kinda... did this whole thing backwards. ^^
