I agree these games are so relaxing BUT they messed up on this one and I hope they go back to the previous game play. The previous 14 games in this series did not put you back to the colors you missed finishing. I like to take the more complicated pictures and break them into 4 or more parts. That way I can zoom in and complete each chunk them move on to the next one. In this game if you try to break the picture up into chunks to complete, you are sent back to any colors you previously did not finish instead of pushing you on to the next color. This makes finishing those very complicated later pictures a real pain. Other than that one flaw the game is pretty nice although some of the pictures are not very pretty. The skateboard one is ghastly and I would like to see more people of color instead of everyone looking like Ken and Barbie.
I have all the Art by Number games released by Big Fish (there are more from Awigor, lots more up to 19) and this one was an auto buy immediately. I checked out this series of games on their site and WOW! There are 2 more in this series and I wish they'd get on Big Fish ASAP. As to game play I can add very little to the other reviewers. The only complaint I have is having to hold the mouse button down to color. As someone with carpal tunnel, it would be very nice to just wave the mouse cursor over the block to be colored and have it done rather than holding it down. Another game on Big Fish has coloring as a mini game and you do not have to hold the mouse button down so I know it can be done. The robot doesn't bother me, just like frogs and that chocolate bar don't bother me from other games, just a trade mark and to each their own!
My deepest sympathies to you on your loss, pennmom36. I always read your reviews because they are so informative. This game is just like all the rest, perfect. I adore everything about it. From the minigames to the actual hidden object scenes, this game has it all. I hope they never change anything about them. As pennmom36 says, playing these is like visiting an old, dear friend.
You can open up the whole set of pictures by playing the last one on each page. To make this game harder, slide the lower color bar all the way to the right to make the highlights white. To make it easier, change the color to a one that is totally different from the color palette of the picture. For darker pictures choose a bright, light color. For lighter pictures choose a darker color. Suggestion for the devs: One thing that would make this game stand above all the rest is to not require the payer hold down the mouse button to color the picture. Another game I play has similar mini games as the Modern Art series and they do not require the mouse button to be depressed to color the picture.
Several things to do to make it easier or harder. 1. Use a color for the highlighting that is totally different than what you are coloring. In a dark picture use a light color, IN a light picture use black or a dark color. 2. If you want to make it SUPER hard, slide that bottom black to white color bar all the way to the right and NO highlighting will be seen. 3. And yes as you can see from my title you CAN open all the pictures if you complete the very last one on each page.
I rarely write reviews but this gam demands one. It was one of the best simple HOGs I've played and I've been playing them for a long time. I look forward to more of these from this developer and can't wait. It is well worth the price of a CE as there are so many extras.
This is one I have been looking forward to for quite some time. Not a fan of the pixel art versions, too much eye strain for me. I prefer the section coloring. Very relaxing, nice music, and lovely colors. I got overwhelmed by the online versions of this kind of game. Too many pictures to color (24 per day!!!) and that takes a lot of time to do, plus holding a tablet for that long gives one a cramp. I was so glad to see something like them come out in a PC form. So nice esp with my 32 inch monitor!

I wish they made more like this, it is a nice switch from HOG's, M3's and Arcade games. A lot like a visual Sudoku and twice as much fun. The scenes are corny and the characters cliche but it works. There are many options for playing different ways to make it easier or wickedly challenging. I rarely write reviews, but after playing this game 3 or 4 times in a row, I had to add my two cents. I'd gladly buy more games like this.
I know, I know all the high bars but still disliked it? Well, I loved this game up until it flat out crashed. Not one thing I did, even rebooting the computer, trying to update my drivers, and reloading the game fixed it. I have a ticket in to Big Fish about it so MAYBE it will get fixed, however this issue has been around sine March of 2012 so it should have been fixed or the game pulled.
I don't recommend this game.

Pretty simple HOG game, not as challenging as some of the more complicated games. A good one to cut some teeth on before you jump into the big load games with tons of moving around. Characters were decent, especially the ones from the series itself. The add on characters were so- so. Loved the scenes from the series, some objects were harder to find than others as mentioned in other reviews. A good game to pick up when on sale or if you are just starting to learn HOGs.
