This game gives the option of timed and untimed mode. Althought "untimed" doesn't really make sense for a time management game, it's good to have the option in case you encounter a level you just can't beat. (I gave up on time management games for awhile because that happened to me in My Kingdom for the Princess II.) The characters and graphics are cute and fun to watch. The increasing challenge seems about right. The music and sound effects are fine and not annoying (at a low level). I will definitely buy others in the Northern Tales series.
I recommend this game!

I agree with other reviewers that the "Murder She Wrote" theme is a nice change from the darker games. I enjoy games that have a lot of hidden objects, and that part of was good for the first two stories. By the third story, the format became repetitive. By the fourth story, the game developers must have become bored, too, because they started doing a lot of scenes that involved finding 20 of this or 30 of that. That's okay when thrown in occasionally, but that type of scene dominated the last two stories. The main reason I would recommend this game is because even if someone plays only the first three stories, I think it's a good game for people who prefer strictly hidden object games to hidden object adventures.
I recommend this game!

I really liked the first two Flux family games, so I was eager to play this one. I'm not sure what's wrong, but it just wasn't as much fun as the others. I found it to be kind of tedious, actually, and I still haven't quite finished the last chapter. I think this last game has a bit too much of what I call "traipsing around." There are a lot of places to visit to look for items, and because they are located in different places in time, they seem disconnected and hard to keep track of. There isn't a map, and the hints are often not helpful. The hidden object scenes are good, and about half the puzzles are enjoyable. A lot of the puzzles are the kind that completely stump me, so I sit there an wait to skip. The story line is pretty nonsensical, but it's mostly the difficulty in keeping track of the scenes and objects that I found detracted from my enjoyment of the game.
I don't recommend this game.

I really enjoyed this game. It's an improvement on the first Flux Family game (Ripple in Time), which I liked as well. It is the type of game that moves through self-contained scenarios containing several scenes in which the player completes tasks and then moves to the next scenario. I prefer that to the games in which I have to move around in a larger environment that I find hard to keep track of. Some reviewers commented on the tiny fragments of objects, and that's true, but they didn't mention that there is a magnifying glass available that makes it much easier to locate those objects. Also, there are many other more traditional hidden object scenes that contain some interesting interactions. Overall, this was a lot of fun; I enjoyed the main character, the cute little girl Jess, and I really like the owl that serves as the screen saver between scenes. The puzzles are a good mix; some of them stumped me. I have already purchased the third Flux Family game (Oracle) and look forward to playing it.
I recommend this game!

This game has everything I like. Lots of hidden objects, but also a story line and a bit of action using found items stored in inventory. What makes this game a bit different, and what I really liked about it, is that it's divided into 10 separate chapters, each containing it's own inventory and locations, so the traipsing around and remembering where things are is limited within each chapter. When one chapter is finished, the next chapter starts again from scratch. The puzzles are quite challenging -- I had to skip some of them. The graphics are good, and I enjoyed the cuteness. Works well on a large monitor -- the graphics didn't pixelate. There is quite a bit of audio story, but it was entertaining enough that I listened to most of it. Very, very enjoyable.
I recommend this game!

I really enjoyed this game. There was quite a bit of backtracking, but the map really helped. Use of objects made sense, and the inventory usually didn't get overly big. There was just enough challenge in remembering where to use objects to make the game interesting rather than frustrating. I like a lot of hidden object scenes, and this game filled that bill. I did not particularly like the puzzles, which is why I didn't give the game 5 stars. They were a bit too difficult, and I ended up waiting for the skip on most of them. Play time was long, but the progression made sense. I am eager to play the next game in the series.
I recommend this game!

The graphics are very good. The story line and acting are a bit cheesy but not much different from most games. What I didn't like is that the objects in the inventory did not match very well their intended use. For example, who uses a tuning fork to break a mirror? I know part of the fun is being resourceful, but in this game, it became annoying to try to figure out what object to use to complete a task, and I ended up relying pretty fully on the clues, which said exactly what to do next. That made the game both too hard and too easy at the same time because I'm pretty sure I would have abandoned the game in frustration without the clues.
I don't recommend this game.
