This is the first time I have every done a review of a game I didn't like. The graphics were nice, so that I rated higher. It started out ok. But that changed quickly. The HOS are cluttered and the things to find are VERY small!!! I pride myself on being able to do them with out the hints, well in this one I HAD to use hints or I would still be on the first chapter... The story and gameplay started out well then seemed to become "rushed". The first "Ring" seemed to take longer to find and you had to do more, after that, there wasn't as much. Also in the HOS they will ask for a "Star" and there will be 5 different kinds of stars in it and they only want a certain one #and if you click wrong too many times branches grow over the screen, but it doesn't really count against you.# The Puzzles have VERY little instructions with them.. so some I just skipped. But the one thing that surprised me the most is there is NO journal/diary etc... they give NO back story to the game, this you only some what learn from the CE and then only a little.
I am going to go ahead and recommend this game but only as a SE NOT a CE!!
I recommend this game!

At first I didn't like the new type of HOS.. After awhile I started to look forward to them.. The game play was just right for a Saturday night game night.. I actually played the First one (Amber Maiden) and this in one day, they were that good!!
One of the puzzle was rather hard because the directions are clear.. but if you play head you will find "The right CombinAtion".. also didn't like how you couldn't get into the guide during the Mini games but at least when you back out to check it, you don't lose progress in the mini game!!
I recommend this game!

This is really good game, like Jeriann64 said the graphics and storyline is very well done... However I did have a hint button, it was in only in the HOS though, so I was glad there was a walkthrough.
I recommend this game!

I just played the free trial but even then I want my time back. I played for just 22 minutes when it froze my computer and when I went back into it, it had not saved the gave for the last 10 minutes I had played. And it wasn't interesting enough to go back into it and replay. It is all the things everyone else is saying PLUS.. it won't let you reset puzzles, and on one you have to flip things around you know you have some right but there are no way to change the others without restarting the puzzle. The cusor doesn't change to let you know where to walk or even click at all. And having to click to contine the talking got very annoying!!
Only thing it had going for it was the art work was pretty good but even then the HOS were slightly blurry and hard to see.
I don't recommend this game.

This game is a fun departure from what I usually play (MysteryCase File, ETC) but it was nice to play for a while. I just played the demo and even though for some reason I was only allowed to play for 28 minutes and not a hour, I enjoy the break. It that short amount of time I finished the 1st of 4 chapters so it doesn't seem to be a verg long game. The games are interesting and not very hard, I think this would be a good game for a kid. I don't know if I am going to buy it or not, maybe if it shows up as a DD but I wouldn't spend full price or a credit on it. Unless I was buying for one of my grandkids.
I recommend this game!

Return once more to the haunted grounds of Ravenhearst Manor to uncover new details about this poignant saga. What you find could very well be the final chapter of this riveting story-if you escape.

**Possible Spoilers** I bought this because I LOVED the other Mystery Case Files. I really wish I had just played the demo first, I would have quit after the second changing object scene as these are SO annoying, it wasn't too bad in Dire Grove when there were only a few but the whole thing??? I have trouble with these and pretty much had to use the guide just to find everything because they changed either so fast or are so subtle you can't see some of them!! The only reason I gave it a 2 was because of the art work. I have just started the second "act" and don't really care if I finish it or not. And all this after have trouble with game download reseting all my screen setting and everything. I am just mad I paid full price for this one!! And that is the first time I have ever felt that way about one of the MCF!!!
I don't recommend this game.

The description of this game when you scroll over it says HOG well based on that I got it and the whole series. I was VERY disappointed and wasted quite a bit of money because there are a couple of CE in the series. These are NOT HOG! It was boring and I actually quit after the fourth section. Also didn't like how it doesn't save your game from where you quit, you have to replay a whole section. It might a great game to some but for someone who really only like HOG's it is not a good game.
I don't recommend this game.

I was lucky enough to do the beta test on this game and loved it then. But didn't expect to see it so soon. This is a game you are not going to want to stop playing!! It has elements of several types of games, HOG, Inventory Finds and Putting things together. Only thing is, you will need the Strategy Guide, it can get a little confusing. The art work is great and the story line is really good too. I am really glad I bought this one!!
I recommend this game!
