I was so excited that a new Mystery Case Files Collector's Edition game was available. I bought it immediately. I played the game 2x before I decided to write my review.
Here goes: First off, the graphics are the same as Dire Grove's previous game. That was nice. I wish we could have gone through more of the house and beyond the garage like in the former game.
Second: The morphing objects were pretty lame this time. 9 'houses' that you have to find in the game AND in the bonus feature.
Third: Lots of repetition. There is lots of walking back and forth over the same spots over and over and over. I suggest you use the map to save a few minutes.
Fourth: My biggest annoyance were the puzzles that you had to figure out. Some of the things that you had to do were not logical, IMO. Too many of them were just you poking around at anything on the screen in the hopes that something, anything would happen. I would suggest that IF you buy the game make sure it's the collector's edition.
Overall, I liked the game. I would give it 4 stars, at most. The frustration level made it hard for me to like this game as much as I loved Madame Fate, Dire Grove and 13th Skull and Ravenhearst 1.
I wish the game company would update these older games so we could still play them. They are my favorites and I am no longer able to use them on my Mac. They are outdated. boo

Sorry, this game did not make me a happy camper. This game is nothing but a big bunch of annoyance and useless non-help. I should have downloaded the free hour. Hints are like "go to another area" or "try another scene", nothing useful just vague stuff. Things you use which in turn makes more inventory do not all automatically appear in your inventory box. Some scenes lock you out so you can't get back to retrieve them. Overall, I spent way too much time trying to figure out how to find how things work. Some clues you don't realize you can even access because a ghost's aura is blocking entry or some heat lines are masking a possible entryway. The actual puzzles aren't difficult. But not having a clue what to do - and no useful hints to help - just made this frustrating. Not what I look for in a game. Live, learn and delete.
Return once more to the haunted grounds of Ravenhearst Manor to uncover new details about this poignant saga. What you find could very well be the final chapter of this riveting story-if you escape.
I am a solid fan of Mystery Case Files. Madame Fate was the first one I bought and, IMO, it's one of the best! This one, though... even with the strategy guide(!) I got stuck in the hospital and I spent hours, way too many hours, trying to move onto the next challenge and couldn't. I retraced my steps, over and over, using the guide and STILL no luck.Talk about frustrating! I gave up. I'm good at these games but this one? Forget it.
1st in a trilogy. It has excellent graphics and storyline. Puzzles are quite good but the maker really got carried away with jigsaw puzzles. I was so tired of them by the game's end.
Madame Fate and Return to Ravenheast complete the trilogy and they are stellar!!
Mystery Case Files games are the best hidden object games on the market, IMO.
A mysterious fortune teller has foreseen her demise at midnight this very day. Can you find the soul who seeks to kill Madame Fate? You be the detective.
OMG!! This is one of the best hidden objects games on the market. 2nd game in a Trilogy. But you don't need to buy the 1st in the trilogy to play this excellent game.
You spend a good deal of time roaming around, trying to find things and generally losing interest in the story not too far into it. Very little 'action'.
Didn't like this game. It was annoying, repetitive, never felt like I got anywhere or accomplished anything. I wasted my time and money. grrr
The puzzles are all different and quite challenging. If your screen is big then "WhackaTroll" will be nearly impossible to win. Great graphics, the interaction with people is superb. These are 'real' people, not drawn. This storyline was well thought out. Sooo worth the money!
