The residents of Bitterford, Maine have fallen prey to a terrible curse. It’s up to you to unravel the series of mysterious events that led to the town’s downfall and uncover the evil that was responsible.
Are the players who wrote bad reviews about this game blind or what?!?
This game is of such astonishing visual quality and graphic level that the pathetic and hideous "Domini Games" and other "GranMA Studios" should blush with shame !
It may not be reminiscent of the first "MCF", I admit, (the last ones even less so, anyway....) but what inventiveness in its construction and its scenario and what an extraordinary atmosphere !
Although it requires a good dose of thought, with its HOs spread over several locations and in which you can even use clues from the inventory, for me this game ranks among the 10 greatest HOGs I have ever play.
(When we compare the fabulous achievements of the "Big Fish Games Studios" of this era to the pitiful and permanent mediocrity that we have been offered for ten years, it's to cry....)
Vampire lovers, beware of this misleading title because you only encounter one during the game, and only after playing for hours! And not the "Classic Vampire" with wolf fangs, black cape and coffin as a bed, but a young and handsome guy who only steals bags of blood from the nearby hospital and who will fall in love with the heroine of the game ! (Strangely wobbly story, like the aunt the girl goes to look for at the beginning of the game, but never mentions again....) We find the same absurd interface as in "Kronville" or in the "Twisted Lands", with an Hint which designates with arrows all possible places at the same time: practical to know where to look! I also deplore the absence of an Interactive Map, which requires multiple back and forth especially in the last part of the game. This title is also full of SOC whose objects are difficult to find as they are small. Ditto for the texts, which are written with a really tiny font. As for the Puzzles, their solutions are never shown which is particularly frustrating! But despite these flaws, including a totally absent cinematic and clues that we recover without opening the central Zoom, I really liked this little game with its magnificent graphics and multiple atmospheres due to the different places where the action takes place. 4 stars thanks to its visual beauty and the pleasure provided by this game, where you never get bored for a second and despite the criticisms made above.
After more than 500 HOG titles tried and/or purchased for more than ten years from BFG or others platforms, I rank it in first place without the slightest hesitation, even if it's a pure "Adventure" game without a single HOS. Despite its difficulty, it has too many qualities to describe them all here. Whether it's its story, its graphics, its cinematic, its music, its videos with real actors, its unique atmosphere and its ability to catch the player, everything here is exceptionally realized ! Since then I have discovered many other excellent games, but few have reached such a level of inventiveness and perfection. (Except perhaps "Fright"....)
"Nemo's Secret : The Nautilus" vs "Nemo's Secret : Vulcania" = spot the error ! A distressingly mediocre game with garishly colored graphics. (Not to mention its unbearable HOS....)
Welcome to Top Secret Finders. Your first mission is to save a small town, uncover the truth about a government conspiracy and stop the villain in his tracks!
One of the top 10 HOGs I've ever played, to be classified among titles such as "13th Skull", "Fright", "The Missing", "Dire Grove", "Livingstone", "Nemo's Secret Vulcania", "Mystic Hospital" or "Shiver Poltergeist". Whether it's for its splendid graphics, its excellent story or its unique atmosphere, we stay glued to this game from the first to the last minute. So please : give us back games of this quality with graphics of this level, such as those we found between 2010 and 2014 !
Absolutely FABULOUS game, one of the greatest BFG with "MCF : Escape", "13th Skull", "Shadow Lake", "Top Secret Finders", "Fright", "The Missing", "Livingstone", "The Fog", "Motor Town", "Nemo's Secret Vulcania", "Mystic Hospital", etc., in short, only titles from before 2014 !
An era, alas, gone, where graphics were all more extraordinary than the others, with a precision and an almost photographic realism, often accompanied by videos with real actors. (Now, they're only horrors with hideous and garish colors and graphics of a distressing mediocrity....)
As for the music of this game, they are so beautiful that they should have been released on CD a long time ago !
The only reproaches I would make, and they aren't minor, are the INCREDIBLE number of HOS that you've to do throughout the game, including 10 in a row at the end (!!!) and their incredible difficulty, so some objects were tiny or almost invisible. Moreover, this game has almost no help and the Hint reloads in 5 minutes, which is completely aberrant. (There's even two Games without Skip !)
I had never seen that in any other BFG : as if the player had to play in "Expert Mode" without having any other choice than this difficulty level.
I didn't want to put 5 stars because of this nightmare which spoiled my pleasure to play more than once, but the final result is of such a general level, of such an incredible quality that I can't do otherwise ! (Especially considering the visual abominations that BFG are releasing since 2018....)
The zenith of good taste and quality graphics. But what a pity that this game lacks at this point of colors ! A little more daring on the part of Eipix in the choice of shades wouldn't have done any harm to a game distinctly too dull. (I'm certain that by searching well, there must exist at least ONE color in the world that hasn't been used in this visual abomination....)
Okay, I get it : when you saw "DIRE GROVE" written in the title, you thought you would find the atmosphere, the fantastic graphics and the videos with real actors that we find in the first game ? Great naive people that you are ! (On the other hand, if you like violet, pink and purple until nausea, you will not be disappointed with your purchase.....)
If it's a joke, it's in VERY bad taste ! How dare to put this visual disaster in the same series as "Shiver : Vanishing Hitchhiker", this game with fabulous graphics ?!? Do you remember the time when BFGs were still offering us games with incredible illustrations such as "MCF: Shadow Lake", "MCF : 13th Skull", "Fright", "Top Secret Finders", "FACES", "Witchville", "The Fog", "The Secret Order", "Nemo's Vulcania", etc, and not the current horrors such as this game, or what the atrocious GrandMA Studios and Domini Games produce for years ? (Where the games of such a quality and graphical level are passed ?)
