This is the strangest storyline. A matchmaker that invades people's houses and businesses to match them up and find voodoo dolls. The game play is broken up, the dialogue is ridiculous and load times can be long, but for a free game credit it's an ok play. It's long, too. Given the dearth of new HOG/Adventure games right now it's about all there is to play, anyway.
This is a fabulous game. The visual quality is outstanding, and although I didn't use sound the whole time what I did use was unobtrusive and the voice-overs weren't even as ponderous as they usually are. One of my kids was looking over my shoulder for a bit and got creeped out (they're pre-teen) so that's my only caution. CE definitely worth it for the extra gameplay. Lack of achievements would be my only critique.
When your daughter, Emily, is taken over by a mysterious force, you must travel to the Nightmare Realm to search for a cure. But nothing could have prepared you for what you find there…
I love this game. Everything about it is great - graphics, storyline, unique puzzles, level of challenge, length of gameplay. It was seriously slow on my computer (5 yo Windows 7 machine) which is the only thing that kept me from rating it 5 stars. Even the HOS were fun and challenging. More like this (and that run on my poor computer) please!
I recommend this game!

Reality Show: Fatal Shot Collector's Edition
After a man is murdered on a hit reality TV show, you are called in to uncover the truth behind the crime.
I love ERS games. They usually have very creative puzzles, great graphics and fun interaction (achievements, etc.). This one took me about two hours to finish (including Bonus Chapter) and it was fairly obvious what to do with each object, and no HOS at all. In my opinion CE level games should really have much more to them, and ERS games usually do. Alas, not this one.
This is based solely on playing the demo, but so far I'm enjoying the puzzles, graphics and HOGs. It's nice to have a change from car wrecks, dead people and gory HO scenes. I don't even mind placing the objects because it's a change of pace from most games. Played demo with sound on - voice overs were very annoying - may turn those off to continue playing. Oh - and the game seems to WORK - which is a nice change of pace as well.
This is the second CE I've bought recently that seemed to be simply moving from HOS to HOS with very little inventory/interaction required to complete the game. This one revisits the same scenes for the HOS so it's even more boring. The puzzles, what few there are, are very simple as well. I generally play with sounds off so can't comment as to soundtrack. The game also seemed VERY short, completed the whole thing in just a few hours which is disappointing for a CE version.
I don't recommend this game.

Unfinished Tales: Illicit Love Collector's Edition
After the Raven Queen crashes her wedding, Thumbelina must save her prince to reclaim her happy ending!
I almost didn't buy this because of the name, thought it was one of those awful romance novel games, but it isn't. My only complaint was how slow the game ran, but it did tell me that at the beginning and give the option to turn off special effects (which I didn't). The puzzles are entertaining, the hidden object scenes weren't too plentiful and were just challenging enough. It was also a long game, which is always satisfying in a Collector's Edition.
I recommend this game!

Guardians of Magic: Amanda's Awakening
Open your eyes to a wondrous world in Guardians of Magic: Amanda's Awakening, a spectacular adventure of science and spell-casting.
Finally a game that isn't about vampires, car crashes or violent and it only takes about 30 minutes to play. Thankfully it was a free game or I would have been really disappointed.
The Dark Parables series has been consistently great, and this is no exception. Clever mini-games, easy to use inventory and hints, beautiful graphics. Can't wait for the next one to come out!
