This was an enjoyable HO game- the story was intriguing, the graphics were nice and the puzzles were challenging but not too difficult. I think it was just a little short of that special something that my favorite games have, but like the other Dark Tales games, it delivers a substantial, enjoyable experience.
Overall this game was quite good- I liked the graphics and the intriguing story, and the 3 different difficulty levels offered. On the downside, many of the HO scenes were overly difficult because the objects were very hard to see. The CE edition gives you 2 bonus levels, which is nice, but I found these levels to be more tedious than fun.
In terms of atmosphere, this is one of the best Nancy Drew games, with plenty of spooky noises and strange happenings, and a mysterious family curse to solve. Like the other Nancy Drew games, this one is much tougher than most HO games- at several points I had to read the walkthrough because I was completely stuck. There are also a lot of number-puzzle type games that you have to play (no skipping!) in order to continue through the game, and these got tedious after a while. I also wished I could fast forward through Nancy's sometimes lengthy conversations with the other characters. But overall, it's very well done and worth buying if you liked some of the other games in this series.
One of my favorites. The story line pulls you in and the levels are beautifully done. It can be a little confusing having to go back and forth all the time to find items. I was also a little disappointed with the end (including the bonus level). A must-buy for fans, but still fun for everyone else.
This is still one of my favorite HO games. The story is complex and engaging, moving back and forth in time, and the puzzles are challenging but not too hard. I also liked the additional challenge of being able to combine objects in the inventory to make things. Definitely recommended!
