This review is based on my playing experience after finishing the full game + Collector's Edition Mode.
I finished them both in about 5 hours playing at the most difficult setting at my own pace which means without using hints or skips at puzzles, reading everything in my journal and enjoying the beautiful locations and music at their fullest.
However, the most difficult setting was not at all so difficult because of the games' structure. You are using the objects found in near locations so you won't travel 9 locations to use an object found in the beginning of the game for example.
Moreover, the map helps you travel fast and shows the available actions and goals to meet. You can turn that off in the Expert setting difficulty.
In the beginning, the game could seem very short, as you cover the whole map very fast but then the map changes, having no way of turning back. I took that as a checkpoint and a beginning of a new chapter because you start fresh.
The game seems very scary at first, especially when the red ghost is trying to pull you down, throwing a rock at you and scaring you continuously, but in the end you will see that you had no reasons at all to be frightened.
The action takes place in daylight and what I enjoyed most is that it resembles the reality 100%. There are no supernatural powers, mythological creatures or extraterrestrial activities. The only thing which doesn't match is the red ghost whom you will uncover in the end.
The story is sublime, you find audio tapes around your journey which reveal the past of the story and motivates you to continue. It features real actors in the cut-scenes. The music suit this game very much.
The hidden object scenes are well done, you don't only need to find all the objects but you must interact with them to reveal new ones and also there's frequently a very easy mini game attached to them, like matching the shapes of some objects.
The actual game puzzles are easy but I found 2 of them extra hard and I had to use the strategy guide on them.
The extras is very massive, it contains lots of goodies, from behind the scenes of filming, to beautiful artwork and it offers you the chance to replay the hidden object scenes.
The extra game play will take you 1 hour and a half for good and the achievements will keep you busy replaying the game for at least 2 times to grab them all.
All in all, it is a splendid light game which resembles the reality and turns dark at parts but there are no things to be afraid as there are no dead bodies or crimes happening.
The kids could play this too without being afraid.
I recommend this game!
