I've never played a game from these developers and I was very impressed. The graphics were detailed and excellent and the music, which often is a distraction and repetitive in most games, was interesting and atmospheric. The story was not particularly new but that didn't matter. I played at the advanced level which meant there was little help apart from the hint button. The game could have used a map as there was a lot of back and forth but that was really my only complaint. As you go along you collect masks--I didn't get near the total number and I went back to look so that was tough. I wonder if there are more in the Collector's Edition. What I really love were the mini puzzles. Every one seemed fresh and there were a series of little theater pieces that advanced the story while playing "seek and find". Very clever. At the advanced level there were virtually no instructions for puzzles, just diagrams, which added to the challenge. This one was great and I recommend it!
I recommend this game!

I bought this one as part of a package and didn't know what to expect. I think it has some really unusual aspects. As the player you get some things thrown at you and that can be startling. The ghost in this game is really creepy and the effects around her are genuinely scary. At one point the hair actually stood up on the back of my neck. The HO parts are fine, if a little dark, but the entire game is shades of dark--you even need a flashlight for some sections. The minigames were innovative-not your usual "untangle the cords" or match things up. I would have liked gathering things or morphing objects (always a favorite) but it didn't really fit this game as you really are the player/actor and it's very life-like. Enjoyed it very much. Not your run-of-the-mill game.
I recommend this game!

So now I have to go back and play it again. Which isn't such a bad idea. Clever story--not the usual witch or crazy hospital/doctor. The artwork is amazing. So much to see. The HOs were well done with interactive parts--and once you got to the extra gameplay, they were totally different and challenging. I would have love morphing objects but the turtles (you have to find a bunch) were also good and not always easy to find (see title of review). I thought the minigames were often unusual and something I hadn't seen before. There was a map which was incredibly helpful because it gave clues, so I didn't have to resort to the Guide as much ( I admit it--had to) and it would jump you to a far reaching location if you needed it. All told, this was a lot of fun and I will go back and play it again. Recommended!

This one really amused me. Set in an Art Deco Mansion and Film Studio you try to figure out what happened to your father and rescue your brother from who knows who. The art work is great and I loved the art deco setting. The details were wonderful. There is a lot going on at once--the main game and more than one "find the object" although no morphing objects, which I enjoy. The live action characters are well acted. Hard to believe this was such an innovation just a bit ago and now I can't imagine a game without "real" characters. The story holds together (all the way to the end for once) and the bonus game continues and is of decent length. Most of the mini puzzles weren't too difficult but that's ok--still enough of a challenge to be fun. There is a lot in the bonus content of the collector's edition. More HO's and mini puzzles; music; wallpaper; etc. I really enjoyed this one, more than most, and can recommend the CE.
I recommend this game!

I liked the first of this series and found this one to be as good if not better. There was a combination of graphics and live action that was clever, although the narrator's voice became a bit grating and cloying after a while. The story held up pretty much throughout, which isn't always the case in these games. Played it on advanced and that wasn't a problem, The HO parts were obvious and occasionally challenging depending on the art work. The mini games tended to be repetitive but were still enjoyable. Didn't use hints and skips, although I admit I had to refer to the strategy guide when stuck on what to do next. But in most cases the inventory items made sense. Extras were clever--collecting flowers in order to buy stuff to decorate the office of the psychic. Lots of extras in the collector's edition. Worth the price. Beautifully rendered.
I recommend this game!

This one really makes you sit up as you go from scene to scene. It is beautiful to look at and very inventive. The voice acting is great (with the exception of the wood nymph whose voice I couldn't stand.) The mini puzzles and HO games are different and interesting. The story moves along without a lot of back tracking. The one complaint--the music was repetitive and unrelated to the story. But I'm delighted with this game! It's unusual within this genre and worth buying.
I recommend this game!

I continue to love Elephant Games. In this one, the visual content is superlative. I actually found myself gasping as I moved from one scene to another. The quality of the art was amazing--like walking through paintings. Unfortunately the same quality did not carry over into the portrayal of the human characters. The various characters were more cartoon-like especially in comparison to their lush surroundings. And the voice acting was only ok. The game play was super;very long game with many mini-puzzles, some of which I just gave up on. The variety was good but a few here and there just were too difficult or boring so I skipped them--no time penalty but frustrating not to be able to finish them all. The story line was good but there were stories within the story that you might not see coming and didn't necessarily make sense. Didn't matter though because it just made for longer game play. The strategy guide was important and there is a "compass" that also helps with clues. Help button fills quickly.
I think this is a much better than average game. Worth the price just for the visual impact and the game is great too.
Highly recommended.
