Unfortunately, I could only take 13 mins of the demo. This is a definite no buy for me, even as a DD, because of the Microscopic HOs. The graphics are good enough, that the HOs are distinguishable once you finally see them, however some are very tiny and blended. The HOs themselves are story related, and appropriate. The hints recharge extremely quickly, which is a plus, as you will probably need them to save your eyes.
This is a straight forward HOG. It is VERY SIMPLE. There are no puzzles, as this game solves them for you, such as putting together pieces of notes, photos, safe combos, and even using tools to break into places is done for you. It even goes so far as to tell where you have to go next, so if you enjoy extreme hand holding, this is the game for you. There are no voice overs, and no junk piles. The music is unobtrusive. The story line didn't capture my interest, and seemed to drag, as you have to click next through ALL of the dialog. Overall, this game seems very dated. With the "Starz" movie channel endorsement, I expected more.

First of all, I finished, but I had trouble staying awake during the demo. There are some things that make this a definite no buy for me, even as a DD. Some of the HOs are microscopic and/or blended, and squinting gives me headaches. The story, while interesting, dragged, and I had to force my eyes to stay open. There is a LOT of unnecessary back and forth, as you can't pick up inventory items until you need them. The sound effects were SO annoying, especially when you found a HO. I had to turn them off completely, which I rarely do. I had to use a hint way more than I like to, as this game has no real logic to it, and I got lost a lot. The mini games/puzzles seemed more tedious than anything. The voice overs and music were okay, but the graphics not so much. The good thing about this game is that the hints recharge quickly in casual mode, which you will need. As always try before you buy.

Wow, microscopic / indistinguishable HO's! It's too bad, because the older crowd, who would really enjoy the music and artwork of this game, probably wouldn't be able to play it, as they wouldn't be able to see the HOs without a microscope. I don't think their glasses alone would do the trick. I'm in my 30's, I don't wear glasses, and I had a headache after 14 minutes. Tiny / blended / indistinguishable HO's, and timed games are deal breakers for me, so this is a definite no buy.
Very linear game, quite similar to Amazing Adventures, but seems very dated. A LOT of reading too, if you want to get the story, which I found uninteresting. 2 modes - Timed and relaxed. Hints cost you points in either mode, and you will definitely be using hints...even then you may not be able to see the HO right away. I think I would run out of points and end up stuck. About the only things I liked about this game were the music, videos, and artwork from the 1930's. As always, try before you buy!

WOW! I absolutely LOVE the creativity of this remarkable game! You can tell the devs put a lot of time and care into it! This has to be the most interesting and integrated hint system I have ever seen! It's part of you, and the story! Superior voice acting, and cut scenes! The outstanding graphics, music and sound effects add to this game and are very appropriate! The spooky story line captured my interest right away! I'm a big fan of interactive movie type games, and this is a prime example.
As you progress thru the game you earn powers to help you save Bethany. This game makes you think a bit as to what and/or how to do tasks, and as an intermediate casual gamer, is a perfect difficulty level for me. The puzzles are quite easy, which I enjoyed thoroughly! The notebook records all info needed to help you solve puzzles, and also includes your task list, and story. There doesn't seem to be a ton of back and forth, which is great! There is, however a ton to explore in each beautifully crafted scene!
There are a few things that I found I didn't care for, but they are easily overlooked and outweighed by the positives! The HOS can be challenging, as some HO are very well hidden/blended, and the color palate is a bit monochromatic in some areas. The hints recharge quickly, but can be a bit vague.
I didn't even finish the demo, and I know I'll be buying it! If you don't like dark, demonic games, this will not be for you. As always, Try Before You Buy!

The free trial was enough for me. This game has okay artwork, albeit some of the HOs are tiny...that is a deal breaker for me, as I get headaches from squinting. The music is just average, but unobtrusive. Good map and hint system that recharges quickly. Very easy, quite linear game, even the mini games. I guess I'm just getting picky about the games I will actually buy. I prefer games that are more like an interactive movie, which this isn't. The story line didn't really capture my interest enough to buy, even as a free credit game. There is really nothing to make this game stand out, and memorable. Good for newbies or kids.

Unfortunately, some of the HOs were microscopic/ blended/ indistinguishable, and there were several of a list item in the scene, but only a specific one is needed. Thankfully there is no multi click penalty. The HOS are junk piles for the most part, and some items were only slivers waaaaaay at the bottom of the screen. Headache inducing microscopic HOGs like this, and timed games are the only games I will not purchase, not even for the DD.
The graphics and sound were not the greatest, and the story line didn't really capture my interest. The puzzles and mini games were easy enough, and different. The hint recharges at a reasonable rate, and the dialog can be skipped, for those who don't want to read a book. This is a very linear game, with no exploring. Always try before you buy!
Some of the HOs were TINY/BLENDED/DARK, so this is a no buy for me, even for the DD. Overall just an okay, easy HOP game. Not really much challenge, and the storyline, graphics, and music were, again, just okay. Good for a child or beginner.
If you want to have a legitimate reason to call in sick to work, play this game. It will give you a migraine in under 20 minutes. I could only take 19 mins of the demo...Holy TINY/BLENDED HOs! Talk about straining your eyes...the graphics are horrible, and make the HOs that much more difficult to find. The beginning is like reading a book, and you better be a fast reader too! Game play is HOS after HOS, with very little story....kinda boring and repetitive. You do not have unlimited hints either. Not worth even the DD price, unless you like to torture yourself, and give yourself a headache.

I have only played the demo of this game, but there are far too many errors for my taste. HO list words are confusing. It says watch, it means clock...it says curling, it means curling iron...it says pointe, it means ballet slippers, etc. There are words in the HO list that I have absolutely no idea what they are, and therefore had to use several hints. Perhaps that is intentional, as part of the challenge?
Most of the HOS have very dark portions and the HO are blended into the darkness. Some of the HO are VERY TINY SLIVERS of an object and/or indistinguishable...like you need a microscope to find them...again I had to use several hints. None of the HOS are interactive.
The puzzles I found to be okay and for the most part easy, as I am an intermediate HOPA gamer, but there are absolutely no instructions whatsoever. All puzzles are skippable.
The music, graphics, etc are just okay, and nothing special...actually this game seems a bit dated. The storyline is very prominent in the beginning, with a ton of reading, however becomes almost non existent during game play. It's just HOS after HOS with a few puzzles thrown in, almost as an afterthought it appears. This is a very linear game, with not much exploring. I have no problem with that, and if it weren't for all the errors, I may have purchased this game as the DD.

I have only completed the demo on easy mode (There are 2 modes...easy and classic), and I had to use the walk through in the Mayan Chapter, as previously mentioned. This game makes you think, and you really must pay attention to every detail or you will easily miss info and be lost. At some points you will probably be lost anyway, as some things are not really explained well. It takes a bit of getting used to, to figure out the mechanics of this game, and how to play it.
The graphics are 3D and are okay, but not the best I've seen. The music is calming, and unobtrusive. The other sound FX can get annoying...like the sound of an incorrect mouse click. The storyline, characters, and traveling through time is mildly interesting.
Some of the inventory items you must find in a scene are only pieces of a larger item that must be combined, and some are blended very well. Some of the HO in the HOS are VERY TINY!! You must search every inch of each scene with your mouse, or you will miss something, and there really isn't that much to find in each scene. The good news is that the hints recharge quickly, there is no walking around...only "teleporting", and it tells you when the scene is complete.
The chapters are short. In the hour demo, I completed Chapter 5 of 14, and that's with having to leave the game to consult the walk through....So I'm guessing just over 2 hrs to 2 1/2 hrs to complete the game. I will not be purchasing this game, as it didn't really pique my interest enough, and I don't see myself replaying it. I feel it is only worth the DD price, and that's only if you find it interesting enough for your taste. Remember, always try before you buy!
