In "Scent", you are a detective(of course), ready to retire in France when lo and behold, your services are needed to help solve a murderous who-done-it. So of course you can't resist! This game is a time piece, so we just know that we didn't really want to lay back on the French Riviera in our knickers and sip champagne! LOL! Young women of all socioeconomic classes are disappearing and the curiosity of it all gets you on the trail of discovering why. The people in the town have cholera , so there's some annoying coughing in the beginning, blending in with some rather daunting music with a slight lilt from a flute. Strong orchestration- very well produced. You are offered 3 game play modes and an interactive map that shows you where there is activity to be done. You also have a diary to keep your notes in and an integrated strategy guide. The cut scenes are well put together- talking and all. Just one thing, I thought this game took place in France, not somewhere like Louisiana. You just have to hear the accents to see what I mean. Come on game producers, technology has come a lot further than that! I do want to say that the graphics are bright, succinct and believable. The mini games are -at least the ones I've played so far- a little different- not real challenging, but thank goodness no connecting pipes, gears to place or weights to balance. The HOS games are crisp and bright and interactive- my favorite part- that's why I play Hidden Object games! This is a CE, so since there are no real Extras such as Achievements, Morphing Objects, Collections, etc. I might just have to wait for the SE to come out. So I'll just have to 'sniff' a little further and make up my mind what to do.
Hello, my fellow fishies...As most of you know I thoroughly love reviewing BF Games, however, at the crack of dawn, while looking at this next Grim Façade game #I already own, and love the other 2# I heard mighty drips coming from my restroom at 4 a.m. and went in to see that my ceiling was about to collapse! I had to get ready for a ride to a lengthy medical procedure and in all honesty, only got a few minutes with my new game. I bought " Cost of Jealousy" on blind faith, which I very rarely do, so rather than writing a bogus review merely copying from the strategy guide and a glance at sound and sight, etc. I decided to be avante garde and write a smile! I have to give major props to Maggie Maze from Toronto for yesterday's review of "Strangestone"!! If ya'll have not read it yet, and want a great chuckle, please do, especially the part about your poor wet brother! I literally had tears rolling down my face. I feel that we play our games for joy and since I haven't the honest ability to offer you that today, due to life's obstacles, I re-read Maggie Maze's review, laughed some more and decided to pass it on. So if you vote that this review did not help you, hey I understand, but if it did, then at least I've spread a smile, possibly halfway around the world from me. But I bought this game, so now it's time to have some fun. Till next time!
Well fellow fishies, I can't wait to start this review - not! Guess What? You and your Brother (Tom# have inherited a wonderfully dilapidated mansion. If I really had a mansion for all the ones I have inherited in Gameland, I'ld have one strange Park Avenue in Weird Man's land!! You and your brother go to your mansion and Tom is immediately cold cocked, leaving you to do the searching around -alone, of course! You are given 4 volume controls and 2 game play modes. I could barely hear the music, could be my age-Ha! Cutscenes have live snaps of people that don't have any real movement. It's like edited stills. You do have a helpful task list and map. Also, a journal to keep important clues in, some of which are illegible. Everything seems rather dark and small. In the HOS games the words in the word list are sometimes larger than then objects themselves. Also they are pretty darn cluttered. The hint button is somewhat handy but slow filling. The mini games are small#really?# and usual. So far this is turning into an appropriate rainy day filler#which guess what? Your sound effects is rain!!- that I would only get as a daily or weekly special, promotional special or with a promo code. But if you have the $ to throw around- go for it !O.K., what am I forgetting? Oh yes, there are no off the chain special effects or graphics and of course the mansion is falling apart and I have spent most my game play thus far trying to maneuver my way around- alone, of course and for what I do not know yet. So, inn conclusion, it is totally up to you to see if you would like to join me in the groping around your inherited mansion. Have Fun!!
This sequel to The Keeper's: Lost Progeny" is really "Killer" No seriously. I love what I have played so far. We start off with an opening narration where Seville, Spain's museum Director is on an archeological excavation when he discovers a long lost box/artifact. After briefly having it in his possession he realizes the capabilities of it's evil and passes it on to the only person he trusts- his sister, Carmen. He tells her to guard it with her life- that it must not get in the wrong hands or evil will prevail and be released. So Carmen is now the Keeper of the Box/ Artifact, hence the title. I really liked all aspects of this game. You are given 3 game play modes, a fast filling hint button, integrated strategy guide, map, a journal to keep your clues#some are retrieved in puzzles#. The strategy guide says there are only 2 chapters. So seeing that I just bought the game, I hope they are lengthy chapters! The music and graphics are ominous, creepy and mood setting. Also, since this takes place in Spain you get a little "poco" Spanish, which I like since I hail originally from Texas- the Spanish speaking American state- or at least one of them! Ha!Ha! The HOS games are interactive, creepy and fun. The objects are fairly easy to find , this coming from Mrs. Magoo, the wife of an antiquated cartoon character, Mr. Magoo!! The whole game has a dark feel to it- to add to the creepy and sinister ambience! The mini games aren't too easy, so the hardcore fishy players will love this! There are also acievements, bonus game play and mini games. To wrap this up, at the beginning of the game you find a note that has been put on the museum's marquis, that says that tonight is a solar eclipse and all the dark evil will be out!! So, since Big Fish has this credit sale I can still purchase this CE at a discount, which of course justifies my spending more money on yet another great HOS game. I'll let ya'll be the judge.
Greetings fellow fishies! Nilosh- Fine minds think alike, right? Today I review my first SE HOS. The beginning is a cutscene of your star heroine's wedding ending and the happy couple driving off, when the groom looks in the back seat, only to see an apparition of a young girl. Very rattled, this scenario causes them to wreck and when the bride comes to- her new hubby (Jon# is missing. Well, we all know what has to be done...find him! Well, this game gives you 2 play modes to do this: Thrilling #Beginner and Intermediate# and Nightmare #Expert# You do have a hint button that leads you to your various tasks and a journal to record your clues. I don't know about anyone else's computers, but my dialogues skipped. They were also old-school animated with no lip movement. The groom's voice was a funky Southern drawl while his lovely new wife is British#or something). The HOS scenes were bright and not cluttered but only slightly interactive. Mini games -your usual . Graphics and music decent. I liked this game enough to use a promo code and now own!! I truly recommend you see for yourself.
Well, my review today is going to be a geographical bash and a little informative. I must say that it is totally unfair that Pakistan gets Big Fish games before Charlotte, NC. Yes, I am addressing this to the wonderfully insightful and talented Nilosh. Even if I get up with the chickens - like we say here in the Southern States- We can't submit our reviews before our fellow fishies across the world, so I will just add my #literal# two cents worth. I know the readers already know that you crash land on an island that the villain in this game is an eyeless woman in white that takes your soul leavfing behind nothing but a pile of bones, hence the title, but this game's cut scenes use real people and the scenery and graphics are so breathtaking, that the player will be totally immersed in this game. Also the HOS games are not only interactive, but very clear and not junk piled! Also if you are not an expert player#like me# the Hint button tells you your next task, and the map you get transports you to where you need to go. So as my finale #smile!# if the reader doesn't already own the other two Hallowed games you can have hours of exhilarating fun for next to nothing monetarily. Have fun, and Nilosh I'll keep writing from time to time, but my spelling is better than yours!!!LOL!!!
i bought this game after only playing 30 minutes of the trial with trepidation and optimism. So far not so great. The storyline is different- a painter on a remote island has an exhibition of his paintings that foretell the future. Your daughter has written you asking you to come and see the exhibit however, now she's disappeared and of course you've got to go and find her! But, when you arrive everywhere you go you either hear about or see an ominous shadowy figure aptly nicknamed "The Silhouette". The first mini-game I played I won a couple of stars, that after so many you can open up bonus HOS and mini games, also other bonus perks. The HOS scenes are clear and interactive in two different ways. And of course you get your strategy guide and a journal for your clues and a record of your achievements. You do get 3 Difficulty modes- Casual, Advanced and Extreme- where all you experts out there get no help at all. Overall the game is pretty entertaining but in hindsight I think I should have saved a few dollars and waited on the SE version.
and play Mysteries of the Mind:Coma CE! Wow! What strange timing. We just had the release of the movie Coma on DVD and now Big Fish releases a game about a young lady deep in a coma! In this daunting and sort of sad HOPA you start out with your choice of Casual or Advanced playing modes. Immediately you are thrust in the role of an accident victim fallen into a coma. In order to "come to" you must go back and undo your past mistakes with loved ones. Fairly simple premise really. First Chapter deals with your MOM, Chapter 2 - Grandpa and Chapter 3 your soul (which by the way your mind and memories are dying, therefore you are too). Once you have rectified these 3 aspects of your past you are given a Bonus Chapter dealing with your Father. Throughout the whole playtime the music shifted according to the scene, which impressed me. But as I said earlier, some of it was sad. The voice-overs and cut scenes are real voices talking including your own voice. You get a helpful Hint button that points out arrows or shows pictures of where you should go. You also get a memory diary for you to keep your notes. The HOS scenes were interactive and simple enough, however a little cluttered for my taste. The hardest thing I had to deal with was which way the cursor was pointing! No bells and whistles in the HOPA game , just straight heart-felt play time. I want to add that the graphics are very well done. I love games involving the mind, reincarnations, etc. So if you do too, delve into the depths of this fun and ethereal game. Have fun!
In case the reader is wondering about my strange title, there is a very old song with that line in it. Now to the review: This is the second Mystery of the Ancients game that I have bought, played and loved! You have traveled to the island town of Black Water where Steve and Caroline, two renowned archeologists, have vanished. As you enter Black Water one of the first things you witness is a giant tentacle chasing after Caroline. You must save her! On top of which the town believes there is a curse on it- it's drinking water has turned BLACK! As you go on your search you are given 3 playing modes to choose from: Casual, Advvanced and Hardcore. The beginning voice-over sounds like it's straight out of a documentary. "Ancients" also has the real sound effects of the ocean waves and seagulls in the background. There are also 15 achievements to strive for as well as 39 turtles hidden in the main content of the game to find. Your Hint button helps a lot if you need it(which I admit I sometimes do) The HOS are interactive, crisp and clear. You are also offered your standard map to review your current location and to check for available locations. There is also a Diary for pertinent information and story details. And as the norm with a CE, you have you standard Strategy Guide and Bonus game play. This game is so fun and flows so smoothly that I think almost any HOPA lover would want this game!
Submerge yourself in this delightful and haunting underwater HOPA game where you are the main character trying to find your missing fiance, your love. Everyone else has given him up for lost, but this is your love, your life! To begin with we are given 3 playing modes: casual (which I played), Advanced and Expert. The music and background sounds were so dramatic and intense. The scenery brilliant and so lifelike you feel as if you are deep-sea diving. Make your way past dangers and a daunting and shadowy figure to the underwater City of Eden. My reviews are not designed to tell you the whole story but to enlighten the readers of what I consider the main points of interest. So as well as the 3 playing modes you are given a very helpful hint button that will "steer" you in the right direction. Also we can earn up to 20 Achievements for extra fun and challenge. The HOS scenes are bold and bright, so I didn't need my magnifying glass for this one. However, should HOS not really be " your thing" you are given the option to play a game of dominoes instead. Nothing special about the mini games, however the game is so fun it really doesn't matter that much. Take this incredible journey and complete the main story and you can play the story of Eden's uprising! So dive right into this delightful HOPA and if you have any- you can use a promo code on this one!
