I love the Fear for Sale series, and this is definitely my favorite game in a long time.
The graphics are clear and colorful. It has a spooky atmosphere, and music is appropiate for each scene. The story kept me interested all the way through. You could tell there was a lot of thought and work that went into this game.
I purchased the CE version with a great sale and enjoyed the bonus chapter as much as the game. It's unusual for a game to carry all the features though the bonus chapter, but this one did. I have no regrets in purchasing the CE version at all.
I think what I loved the most was the small games that were sprinkled throughout (even in the HOS), that you worked to achieve what you needed to get or do.
I never felt lost and wondering around as I do in so many games. I only used the map or hint button 3-4 times.
Give the game a try! I believe you will also enjoy it. CE or SE, it's a great game!
I have all the other Shadow Wolf Mysteries and was very excited when this came out in CE. I usually purchase the SE games, but couldn't wait so purchased the CE. I'm not sorry I did.
I love the story, eerieness, music, and HOS. I also love werewolf games. Get tired of witches all the time. LOL
I have been playing HOGs for 7 yrs. and still enjoy a good game. I believe many have gotten burned out on them and therefore only give complaint reviews, which isn't really fair to the developers. No wonder we are getting fewer and fewer games. If you are new to the HOG genre, please don't be discouraged by many of the reviews. Try the demo and see if you like it. If you do enjoy playing a game, please take the time to write a review saying so. I'm sure the developers and BFG will appreciate your opinion.
I just finished the demo on this game and really enjoyed myself. I liked the story, graphics, old man's character (manager), atmosphere, and game play. The HOS aren't hard, but relaxing and enjoyable. Plus are completed in 2-3 formats, which added to the fun of them without straining your eyes or frustration. I'm anxious to find out how it continues. So, with the great sale by BFG I'm off to buy the game and find out.
As soon as I saw we had another Royal Detective with stone giants I knew I had to have it. This is one of my favorite series. I downloaded the demo, but didn't get it finished before today's great sale came out so I grabbed it up. The original game was my favorite, but I enjoyed the second one also. I'm sure I won't be disappointed in this game either.
Give it a try. You might enjoy it as much as I do!
After being contacted by a secret organization of elite mystery solvers, you're sent out in the field to prove your skills. This job interview may be your last!
I don't understand all the negative reviews on this game. I almost didn't demo it, but after watching the video decided to give it a try. I'm very glad I did.
The graphics were excellent imo, and I liked the way objects would move when you clicked on them (horses over the doorway comes to mind).
The map shows where action is available and allows you to jump. A suitcase that gives you background history when evidence is found. I like watching gargoles flying around and the fact you have a secret weapon you can shoot them with to save someone.
All in all I enjoyed the demo and definitely plan to purchase the game. I didn't demo the CE, sometimes the extras distract from the game. I like to just concentrate on the adventure.
Don't go by all the reviews, try it out for yourself. We all have different tastes and some of us are just getting tired of the genre. Might need a break. I know I took a break for a while and now enjoy the games once again.
If you want the moral of the story, you will have to play the game to find out.
I really enjoy playing these "Who Done It" games by Eipix. I like that they are not modern day settings. I get bored with those. I enjoyed the time era of this game, always like the "roaring 20's".
I enjoy a good story where you interact with characters to try and get clues to solve a murder. Makes the story a little more interesting trying to figure out what happened.
I also am happy I purchased the CE of this game (I don't always do that). Although the main game concludes just fine, the bonus game takes you a step further into life after the murder. Same characters, settings, etc. It just takes the story a little further.
If you haven't tried this game and you like murder mysteries, I definitely recommend giving it a demo.
Great job Eipix and BFG !! Can't wait to play the latest release.
I recommend this game!

Shadow Wolf Mysteries: Tracks of Terror Collector's Edition
Can werewolves be cured, or will one family’s curse continue?
I beta tested this game and just loved it. I didn't want it to end and couldn't wait for it to come out. I enjoyed it so much that I went back and replayed all the others in this series to prepare for it's release. I'm almost finished with Under The Crimson Moon, so will be ready to start this one tomorrow.
I'll leave game description to those who do a much better job of detail. I will say, I've been watching for it's release and was so excited to see it finally out, that I hit the "buy button" without testing it again or taking any advantage of the great sale on the other CE games. :( Just put it in my cart and before I knew it I had hit the "buy" button.
If you enjoyed the others in this series, you will definitely LOVE this one. I'm hoping what the description said about the bonus game doesn't mean it is the end of this series. That will be a sad day..
Definitely give this game a try. I tried to list it as my "current favorite game", but since it is "tomorrow's game release" I guess it isn't officially out yet and wouldn't allow me.
I beta tested this game and couldn't wait for it to come out. Bought it right away, since I didn't have to demo it again. I loved the game and story. It's been a long time since we've had a game like this. Or I should say, we don't get them often enough. It was a "must buy" for me!
I loved having Francis Drake as a sidekick. He was comical and cute to look at. He had a history with you and that make it more personal than an animal you find along the way. Good idea devs!!
The graphics and scenery was great and the music was good also. HOGS and puzzles varied and were fun. You had to find morphing objects to replenish your hint button. I guess the SE will have them also if you need them to refill your hints. There are other collectibles as well.
The only drawback I found was the map. You could see where action needed done, and it would transport you. But only in a short area at a time. If the map showed no locations where action was needed and you wanted to get back to another location outside of the map area, but couldn't remember how to get there, then you had to use a hint and be transported. I would get busy playing the game and would forget to look for morphing objects, so I always had 3 or less hints to use.
The ending did seem sudden and Francis comes to the rescue with an item that left you wondering where he got it. That's what you find out in the bonus chapter. I can't say you need the bonus chapter to enjoy the game, but I'm glad I have it to answer that question. You become Francis in it.
Thank you Devs and BFG for a really fun game. Please give us more like this one. :)
Contrary to what many other reviewers have written, I really enjoyed playing Hope Lake.
I found the story and scenes creepy and the music non- intrusive. I liked that you got bits and pieces of what happened in the past to help you understand what was currently going on. Not all was what it originally appeared. I felt the story was a situation that could easily happen today, which kept me wanting to play.
For me the game took too long to start each time I logged on, but going from one scene to the next didn't lag for me. In fact, I used the jump map most of the time. It would show where tasks needed done and saved me a lot of needless wondering around. When I saw what scenes had tasks needing to be accomplished, it would help me to remember what item I needed for that area. If I didn't have the item, I knew not to go there yet. Definitely made the game more fun.
The one downfall I had was some of the items in the HOS didn't have the correct name to them. I was looking for a "key" which turned out to be a wrench, "Darts" turned out to be a dart board, "comb" was a hairbrush, etc. Only happened once or twice in each HOS, so I just used the hint, laughed, and moved on. I didn't allow it to ruin what I thought was a good game.
We all have different tastes in games, so if you have been put off by bad reviews don't be afraid to demo the game and see for yourself. Like me, you might really enjoy it.
Happy gaming!!
I recommend this game!

Haunted Legends: The Dark Wishes
Restore the threads of Fate, before they cause a disaster!
I was disappointed in this game. I have all the other Haunted Legend games, but have to admit I still haven't played them all. I have around 100 games I've not yet played. I seem to buy more that I have time to play. :(
Haunted Legend: The Dark wishes had good potential, but was way to easy even for a beginner. There was nothing "hidden" in the HOS. Everything was large and in plain view. You just clicked as you scanned. When I first started playing hidden object games the thrill of the game was trying to find the items listed. They usually were well hidden and it was a fun challenge just looking for them. I had just finished playing the first two Shadow Wolf Mysteries before playing this game (I just did a beta on the new one coming out and wanted to refresh myself before it's out.). The difference in the old and new HOS was so obvious.
If a game is geared more for the beginner player, I wish it would be noted. The same with games for the expert player. Here's an idea BFG, rate the games according to hardness so the buyer will know what they are getting.
The game seemed short, which I usually like. I get bored easily if they are too long. I believe the shortness of this game was due to the easiness of game play. Just no real challenge.
I enjoyed the story and graphics are very good, as usual for this developer. I just wish they would mix more of the old style of game into the new. I'm sure they could have a good combination of the two.
Give this game a try, but don't be taken in by the ending of the demo. I liked the demo better than the game.
