Love word games, but definitely better ones out there. Could not get the game to do what it was supposed to do during the tutorial and the tutorial itself was confusing. Did not explain, in any way, what the end purpose of the game was and I got frustrated enough with it that I didn't even finish the tutorial. Graphics reminded me of an old PC typing program that my son used ages ago to learn to touch type faster. Really disappointing. Like I said, I really did want this to be a fun word game.
I just love this series of games and this one does not disappoint! It is continuing the story of Princess Sophia and her quest to find her family as well as her "people". I think that the art design on this game is fantastic and I love all the different types of creatures that are met along the way. The owl and the pocket dragon are with us again and quite clever and helpful. I always play these games on the casual level simply because I am as enchanted with the storyline as anything and I am just not one to play these games on the harder level, so I can't really speak to that particular issue. The HO scenes on this game are the straightforward HOs that I see on most games as there are often multiple steps in creating a object before it can be picked up. The sound on this game is fine and not at all intrusive in my opinion but I often play these games with no sound and rely on the dialogue boxes so I want to be clear about that. I also think the minigames are great fun and quite creative. I love all of the little extras in this series of games and feel that the designers have really put a lot of time and effort into creating an holistic gaming environment. I went through the first hour in what seemed like 15 minutes and then immediately purchased it. If you haven't played any of the Awakenings games yet, I would encourage you to start at the beginning and then play through all of them. If you are an HO fan, as I am then I promise that you will get a lot of amusement and fun out of this series of games. Enjoy!!
I rarely review games as I always feel everything that needed to be said has already be said. And actually, that is the case with this game as well, but I just had to add my two cents worth because this is best game I have played in a long time. I was so impressed with the graphics- the beautifully drawn characters were a joy to behold and I just fell in love with the little "help" characters that stayed with the game play through out. I thought that was a wonderful added touch that I rarely experience in the HO games. I was thrilled with the extras in this game, including the collectibles and the achievements. I got to the end and realized that I had missed a couple of the collectibles and went back to find them - something that I NEVER do in other games. I am an HO junkie and play almost every one of them that is released. This one had great items to find that were not too hard to locate but also not ridiculous easy either. I also thought the mini-games were inventive and appealing and something out of the norm. The story was wonderful and the end actually really surprised me which is also unusual for me. I was truly sad when I realized that I had played the bonus content and there was simply nothing more for me to do. I am a person that usually plays the casual or easy level as I don't normally have the patience for the harder levels but I really was excited that I had done it this time because I am looking forward to waiting a bit and then coming back to this game and playing it again at a more difficult level. This particular game maker is one of my favorites and they have really topped themselves with this game. Just loved it!
I really enjoyed this game and I, too, think I may have purchased darn near every HOG that exists! I actually enjoy when I have to find the bits of objects instead of the same group of objects that seem to come up in every game. I thought the storyline was riveting and actually tried to figure out what was going on as the game progressed. However, I really was disappointed that there wasn't a more substantial explanation at the end. I thought that it ended too abruptly, almost as if the game creators were tired of the storyline by the time they got to the end of it and just wanted to get it over with. That is fine for those of us who are players, but I really would prefer that the game makers not get into that mode. Overall though, it was a great game!
