GET READY TO PAY THE PIPER - AN EXTRA GOLDEN STAR FOR THE OPTIONAL GAME HELPER

fromThis Pied Piper has a future occupation after this game – pest control! That flute could come in handy in getting rid of annoying bugs, animals, and pesky people as well.
Detective – you will need to pay the piper in this game – in more ways than one! As a member of the League of Light, you are off to Hamelin where a flautist is turning everyone into ashes. Can this episode relate to one years earlier where the children of the town were lured away by the Piped Piper into the black smoke of the forest? At that time, another member of the League of Light dispelled the black smoke and returned the children with a special magic lamp. That same detective gave the town a splinter of the magic lamp to fight dark magic in the future. Now, detective, use that splinter quickly before evil dark magic returns to the village. You see a masked man everywhere you turn. Has the Pied Piper returned? But how can that be possible if he was found dead in a prison cell years ago?
This is fairy tale lover’s delight! This game is another shining example of the creativity of this developer. This game should appeal to fantasy game lovers, those who like easy breezy games, and children as well. You can choose either a male or female voice within the game – or no voice at all. The female voice sounds like the voice of the former Nancy Drew - Lani Minella. The graphics render a nice background for a rather twisted fairy tale. The gaming script is creative and the pace kept my interest while playing this demo.
A GOLDEN STAR FOR THE OPTIONAL HELPER. You can also take Tom the Scarecrow out of the cabinet and use him as a helper – OR NOT! THE “HELPER” SCARECROW IS OPTIONAL! Thanks, Mariaglorum, and an extra star for allowing those who don’t want a helper to opt out! I wish more developers offered this option. At least for me, I will be purchasing more games from this developer! Thank you for listening to us.
HOP SCENES: The HOP scenes are the best part of the game. They are well-drawn and creative. There is a scene with cryptic clues. There is also a search and replace scene in which you locate items and interact with them within the scene. All the scenes are creative!
PUZZLES: Although I LOVE the HOP Scenes, I am not impressed with the puzzles. They are all easy – a little too easy for my taste. However, these types of puzzles would be excellent for children as well as adults who just want some casual gaming. Most of the puzzles are storybook puzzles. Most these are more HOP scenes than puzzles. In most of these scenes, you search for a specific number of an item or symbol while hearing the tale of the town. There are two of these within the demo. The other storybook scene requires you to search for items which are out-of-place and place them into the proper position.
LEVELS: Casual, Advanced, Expert, Custom Hints and Skips: 1 to 90 seconds
EXTRAS: Choice of Male or Female Voice or No Voice Map is provided as you play the game 9 Achievements (Some with 3 parts) Collect 6 gaming characters and 24 Owls 8 Wallpapers, 16 Concept Art, Music, Jigsaw puzzle
HERE ARE THE DETAILS (SPOILERS) FOR THOSE WANT MORE INFORMATION ON THE HOP SCENES AND PUZZLES IN SEQUENCE
HOP SCENES: A. Mini-HOP scene. Locate parts for a statue. B. Silhouette items – Locate four (4) each of three (3) different colored coins C. Cryptic clues. D. Silhouette. Locate the items and then interact with them within the scene.
PUZZLES: Puzzle Rating: They are all easy. A. Slider puzzle. Slide three (3) rings so that three (3) symbols match up with each of three (3) characters at the side. B. Storybook puzzle. More of a HOP scene. Locate four (4) items within a story scene. C. Connection puzzle. Arrange five (5) statues so their hands interconnect. D. Repeat of (B). E. Storybook puzzle scene. Search for four (4) items which are out-of-place and put them into the proper locations. 3X
TOSSING THE DICE IN A GAME WHICH COMES UP WITH A PERFECT SCORE

fromInvasion of the Furbies! After a generation of Millenials spent time teaching them to talk, these furballs disappeared into storage. They’re back sneaking into games.
5 Chapters plus a Bonus Chapter – Strategy Guide: 48 pages
OVERVIEW: It’s a toss of the dice where this game will lead you, Rachel! Get ready to play with eternity’s bad boy band, The Spirits of Fate. After years of delivering souls to Death’s door, these spirits have become bored. To “shake” it up a bit, they have started a dice game with humanity as their pawns. Now their only fun is to harass and torment human souls, sending them to a place which is neither Heaven nor the Underworld, a placed called Land of the Forgotten. Now your sister has been “played” by one these colorful spirits, Blue. This spirit ran her down with a car, abducted her and has taken her to this land. Luckily, his brother Gold, has seen the error of his ways and is willing to help you locate her. Through a ritual, you find yourself in this land. You will need to be strong because Blue is not going to let your sister leave without a fight. You will get a little help from Gregory, the gatekeeper in this land. Oh – one final warning! Remaining in this land will cause both you and your sister to lose all your memories! You better act quickly!
I LOVE this game and to me the best of the series! This game was an automatic purchase for me! This game has a fantastic story and gaming script. The graphics are exceptional. Gregory, the gatekeeper, shimmers and changes to a skeletal appearance while you are speaking with him. Rather cool! The collectibles are the usual multitude of flowers and in this game, morphing dolls of the game’s characters. This game should appeal to about everyone. You can replay the HOP scenes and the puzzles as well. Calling all Millenials! Do you remember Furbies? A Furbie family has crept into this game, but Mom Furby and her adorable little ones stay silent (I guess no one “taught” them to talk) and WILL NOT HELP you at all in this game! Great!
HOP SCENES: The demo has few scenes; however, they are creatively designed. There is a multiple-step one in which you locate a list of items which leads to a mechanical puzzle/HOP scene to remove a Staff of Death. Rather cool! There are two maze scenes. However, my favorite maze scene was the one in which the player needs to search for symbols within the maze – A-maze-ing! You must move items around to find those symbols as well.
PUZZLES: This is a developer who knows how to keep his customer base happy! Finally, we have a game with a few challenging puzzles within it. However, there are also some easy breezy puzzles as well. The puzzles are well-designed. There are quite a few puzzles within this game. I will just outline two of my favorites.
FAVORITE PUZZLES: First ,there is a three-part puzzle in which you must get past some guards. You will have three choices of paths and you must time it so that you don’t get caught. The puzzle begins with outfoxing one guard followed by scenes containing two and finally three guards to contend with. I LOVED the connection puzzle. In this puzzle, you must connect lines between points of light without crossing lines no more than twice. It is a little more difficult that a normal connection puzzle.
LEVELS: Casual, Advanced, Hardcore, Custom Hints and Skips: 15 to 90 seconds
EXTRAS: Map is provided as you play the game 20 Achievements (From what I could count) Collect 140 Flowers - Secret Room Collect 9 morphing dolls – characters from the game Replay 14 HOP scenes and 13 Puzzles 10 Wallpapers, 10 Concept Art, Screensavers, Music,
HERE ARE THE DETAILS (SPOILERS) FOR THOSE WANT MORE INFORMATION ON THE HOP SCENES AND PUZZLES IN SEQUENCE

Increases in difficulty with the addition of one other guard as you progress in the puzzle. D. Connection puzzle. Connect dots as per a given diagram. You are not allowed to cross lines more than twice. Rating: 3 E. Logic puzzle. Combine two halves of five circles by rotating them along a slider. Must be combined in the correct sequence to be removed. G. Maze puzzle. Move a rotating blue ball through a maze to the center by clicking on openings to move it down to the center. Rating: 1 H. Rotating tiles puzzle. Rotate tiles to recreate a picture. Moving one affects the others. Rating: 1 I. Assembly puzzle. Using four directional dials, move a series of lights to match up with stones on a monument. Lights will remain when they are placed in the correct location. Requires patience to get all the lights into position. Rating: 3 J. Matching puzzles. Move parts of up to three figurines into position to match the positions on a diagram. 3X. Rating: 2 K. Moving shells puzzle. Keep your eyes on a hidden ice cube hidden under a card as it zooms back and forth along the screen with other cards. When it stops, choose the card which is hiding the cube. 3X. Increases in difficulty.
fromWhile our mom, Dorothy, is over the rainbow, perhaps she can ask the Wizard for a new cell phone so she does not need to rely on walkie talkies for communication.
OVERVIEW: Way to go Mom! You have some Kansas spunk! Instead of being a soccer mom – you are a high-flying mom – a true jet setter rising above the clouds. After sending your crumb crunchers off to school, find yourself whisked away by a tornado (along with future helper Toto) to the Land of Oz. Just make certain you figure out how to return home from Oz before those tykes return from school. You’re off to see the Wizard in a “corny” game where Frank (as in Frank Baum – the writer of the book) gives you a helping hand throughout the game through a set of walkie talkies. This game is a pure “cornball” hokum.
The game includes a Kansas tornado, fields of sunflowers, some “corny” dialogue, and a "helper" Scottish terrier playing the part of Toto. We are whisked off to a winterized version of Oz and the Emerald City. In a modified tale, Oz has changed somewhat. There are now four wizards - one for each cardinal point on the compass. Those nasty witches are replaced by sorceresses (who surprisingly still look exactly like witches). Your ruby slippers have been exchanged for silver slippers which will whisk you away to any part of the map in Oz. Just place them on the map and click them around. You don’t get to click your slippers to go home; instead you need to find three statuettes for the Wizard to return home to Kansas.
This game should appeal to children, “Wizard of Oz” lovers, and dog lovers. You collect some doggone coins (doggie pictures on each coin) and there is an indicator at the side of the screen to indicate if you have found all the coins in the scene. I found them easy to locate. You also receive a pair of gimmicky glasses to play “spot-the-difference” puzzles. Somewhere, hidden behind the curtain is a missed opportunity for a “Great and Powerful Game.” This developer should “throw water” on several elements in this game. I would suggest getting rid of the helper bow-wow and the gimmicks in this game, including the glasses. I would also suggest providing at least one slightly difficult puzzle. For me, the game has a poorly written gaming script, is gimmicky, lacks any challenge, and is “hounded” and bogged down by the helper. If you like this game – hope you enjoy it! It will be a definite pass for me.
HOP SCENES: The scenes are standard fare. Most are lists of items with some interactivity. They are gimmicky. In one you use tweezers to get items. In another, you use a camera to provide some of the scenes. There is one in which you do return items back into their proper places in a storybook; however, that is the only one which is somewhat creative.
PUZZLES: The puzzles are boringly easy. They include two moving tiles puzzles. In one, you create an opening for Toto. The other just requires you to replace items into proper position. Other puzzles include a storybook puzzle which is more of a HOP scene than a puzzle. There is also a connection puzzle in which you align triangles so they match up two parts of several birds on each side. There is also a switch puzzle which took me about 5 seconds to solve; however, you might solve it faster.
OPTIONAL HELPER, PLEASE! I am so sick of these annoying animal helpers! One of the developers recently offered an OPTIONAL HELPER in one of their games so I know it can be programmed into the game! Just think - instant peace in the gaming world! I hope this developer will do the same in future games. I REFUSE to purchase a game with an annoying, over-used helper.
LEVELS: Casual, Advanced, Expert, Custom Hints: 10 to 180 seconds Skips: 10 to 320 seconds
EXTRAS: Map is provided at the beginning of the game 20 Achievements (Some have 3 parts) Replay Mini-games and HOP scenes Collect coins to purchase goodies for Toto Gimmicky Glasses 9 Wallpapers, 13 Concept Art, Music, Videos
HERE ARE THE DETAILS (SPOILERS) FOR THOSE WANT MORE INFORMATION ON THE HOP SCENES AND PUZZLES IN SEQUENCE
HOP SCENES: (A) List of items stuck on Toto. (B) List of items. (C) Locate a specific number of one item (D) Replacement scene. Replace items back into their proper location for four scenes.
PUZZLES: They are all easy! You won’t need to ask the Wizard for a brain to solve these! A. Glasses puzzle. Spot the Differences. Every time you use the gimmicky glasses, locate the differences between the scenes between the left and right lens. B. Sliding tiles puzzle. Slide tiles to make an opening for Toto to escape. C. Storybook. Search for items within a storybook scene. D. Sliding tiles puzzle. Slide four stones indicating direction into their proper location on a map. E. Mathematical puzzle. Place stones with part of an addition or subtraction equation upon them in the proper order to produce the exact number of steps to go from the beginning to the end of the route. F. Jigsaw puzzle. Place triangle pieces on a grid so that each of the three sides matches up two halves of an image of a bird. G. Assembly puzzle. Assemble a scarecrow by using arrows to move different clothing items until you choose the correct ones which fit the scarecrow. H. Switch puzzle. Switch four animal tokens so they match with the footprints of those animals.
OVERVIEW: Are you up to rebuilding the city of the Ancients? Grab your hard hats and put your brains in gear in this excellent 5-star nonogram game. This developer has set the foundation for this game by constructing beautifully designed puzzles. The final pictures resulting from completion of the puzzle are realistic looking. The grids vary in size from 10 x 10 to 10 x 15 and perhaps even larger.
As you play the one-hundred (100) puzzles within this game, you will earn points which will be used to purchase buildings and other items for this new town. Points are earned based on the time to solve the puzzle, the mistakes made, and the stars awarded. Extras include a hand to fill in squares and a hammer to fill in empty squares. Unlike other games of the genre, there are only three colors per puzzle; however, you can switch between colors. The colors are also vivid and easy to see.
I LOVE these games and this developer has produced a good one. This puzzle has various names (Griddlers, Nonograms, Paint-by-Numbers, Pic-a-Pix, Nonograms or whatever you call them); however, no matter the name, they are a fun puzzle game.
HOW TO PLAY: This is variety of a Sudoku puzzle. In this puzzle, create pictures by filling in squares in a grid. The grids in this game will vary in size. Each side of the grid will have numbers for each line of squares indicating the number of squares which are to be filled in for that row of squares. Squares are filled in where the squares intersect between the two sets of numbers on each side.
GAME FACTS:
• Colors: The game has up to three colored screens which can be switched at any time while playing the puzzle. • Autofill: There is autofill so you do not have to fill in the unused boxes. However, you can use your mouse to right click “X’s” for unused spaces. • Hints: There are six (6) hints per puzzle. • Number of Puzzles: There are one-hundred (100) puzzles – each worth three (3) stars. Stars are awarded as to number of errors you make in completing the puzzle. • Aids: There is a hand icon to fill in squares and a hammer icon to fill in empty squares. • Awards: Points are accumulated to purchase items for the city of the Ancients. Points are earned as per time used to complete the puzzle, amount of errors, and stars earned. • Errors: There are five (5) errors allowed per puzzle before starting over. • 18 Achievements: Unlike other nonogram games, there are achievements which can be earned.
I highly recommend this game if you like Sudoku games or any type of mathematical puzzle.
OVERVIEW: Skol! Be brave new shield maiden! Ready your ship and may the Nordic gods of Asgard be with you! EIPIX is taking you on a new journey in a new epic tale – their own Nordic “Odyssey” (along with some leftover creatures from “Lord of the Rings”) through nine worlds. In the first game of the series play a brave and stalwart new shield maiden in liege to the princess of the kingdom. Your first assignment is to stop a dragon ravaging the local villages of the kingdom. Upon falling overboard from your drakkar (ship), you drown, and are taken to Asgard, home of the gods. Even death cannot thwart you! The gods return you to the living because your destiny still awaits you. Harbard, who saves you from drowning, helps you round up three companions to help you fight the dragon – a huntress, a seer, and a skard (musician). Spend some time with each one to assess their abilities to help you in your quest.
This game is brilliantly designed and probably one of this developer’s finest works. It should appeal to about everyone. It is a well-crafted game with a touch of adventure attached. The game has an excellent theme which lends itself to more adventures through the various worlds of the Nordic realm. The graphics are beautiful. Each of the three companions in the game, the skard, the huntress, and seer has their own mini-segment in which you, as the shield maiden, interact with them. EIPIX allows you to mix up the playing of scenes – you can play them in any order you choose. The activities are superb with puzzles which vary in difficulty. There is a notebook which gives some history and myths about the ancient Nordic people.
HOP SCENES: They are the best part of the game. EIPIX incorporates navigation items within the scenes in keeping with the theme There is a sentence scene in which you locate areas on a map while navigating your ship in a fog. There is another creative scene in which you locate items while moving three stone parts of a mural changing the scene. Others include a storybook sequence with items in bold letters and a scene with sentences looking for items on a map.
PUZZLES: The game is puzzle intense. There are several simplistic puzzles within the scenes which are not listed as puzzles but need to be solved to proceed. I found two of the puzzles very creatively designed and a little challenging. In one puzzle the player assembles items to help the huntress defeat a bear. In the second puzzle, you must rearrange crystals to create an image. Other puzzles include the usual matching puzzles, connection puzzles, sequence puzzles, Simon Says puzzles and switch puzzles.
LEVELS: Viking, Marauder, Berserker, Valkrie Hint: 10 to 120 seconds Skips: 10 to 400 seconds
EXTRAS: Map is provided as you play the game 14 Achievements Collect 37 Yggdrasil tiles 11 Morphing objects (within HOP scenes) Replay 15 Puzzles and 11 HOP scenes 8 Wallpapers, 4 Concept Art, Screensavers, Music, Videos Book of Origin

SUFFERING FROM VENATOPHOBIA? – NO MATTER! YOU ARE UNDER CONTRACT TO PLAY THIS GAME – OR ELSE!

fromI am suffering from “Logiphobia” (fear of puzzles) In my case, it is not the fear of the puzzles themselves, rather it is the fear that I will never see another game with any challenging puzzles.
4 Chapters plus a Bonus Chapter - - - Strategy Guide: 41 Pages
OVERVIEW: What are you afraid of Stephen? In this game, you will need to face your fears to save your family as well as yourself. Twenty years previously, your mom and critically ill sister disappeared. Now you have received a letter from your long-lost mother asking you to go to the Freedom Hotel to save her. Upon arrival, you see glimpses of your mother, Elizabeth, but are never quite able to reach her. There will be conditions. To meet up with your mother, you are going to have to sign a contractual agreement with the owner, Thomas Coldwell. The devil is in the details in this contract. You must pass a series of tests. This hotel is no ordinary hotel. Enter a world within this hotel which materializes the fears of its inhabitants and feeds upon them. Along the way, you will meet others also trapped within its walls. You are a rat in a maze, Stephen. You are being observed by Coldwell as he leads you through a maze of fear! Rescuing everyone in the hotel will be your “key” to getting out of the hotel.
This is a great game which I purchased immediately! I love the story behind the game. The pace is excellent. This is a psychological thriller which is best played in the dark. It won’t appeal to everyone; however, if you like to be scared, you may like this game. Creepy little tykes peer out at you through the keyhole on the inventory bar. The graphics are dark with some items highlighted in bright iridescent blue giving the game an eerie ambiance. There are quite a few collectibles including 13 phobias to place in your own Fear Room. There are 20 morphing objects and you collect 20 jigsaw pieces as well.
HOP SCENES: There are only four in the demo and two of them are lists of items which I did not find very interactive. The others are a cleverly designed silhouette scene with items well-hidden on a tombstone and a matching scene.
PUZZLES: This is my biggest disappointment in this game. I bought this game for the story behind the game. However, I wish at least one of the puzzles in the demo was a little challenging. The puzzles in the demo are three maze puzzles, three sequence puzzles, and one matching puzzle. The use of maze puzzles adds to the sense of the victimization of the “guests” at the hotel. They are very well-designed. However, I just wish one of those maze puzzles was a tad more difficult. The sequence and matching puzzles are extremely easy with no challenge at all.
LEVELS: Casual, Advance, Hardcore, Custom Hints and Skips: 15 to 90 seconds
EXTRAS: Map is provided at the beginning of the game. 17 Achievements Collect 13 phobias to place in the Fear Room Collect 20 jigsaw puzzle pieces for a picture 20 Morphing objects Replay 12 Puzzles and 16 HOP scenes 10 Wallpapers, 10 Concept Art, Screensaver, Music,

fromMore family drama – Why didn’t good ole Mom and Dad not tell Alice about Uncle Colin? And…since Alice did not know she had an uncle, how did she know where to find him?
UNCLE COLIN AND SIDEKICK NIECE ALICE SAVE THE WORLD!
4 Chapters plus a Bonus Chapter
OVERVIEW: Enter a post-apocalyptic world, where pollution, wars, and overpopulation have destroyed the planet. However, if that is not enough, this same world is menaced by the “Darkness” brought to Earth by a meteorite. Yikes! A double whammy! Help Uncle Colin and his “tween” sidekick niece, Alice, traverse this “Mad Max” world - fighting off scorpions, snakes, and harsh terrain. Help this noble uncle regain his memory, stolen by the “Darkness.” Along the way, battle the tentacles of this evil menace as it reaches out for this intrepid duo. Niece Alice will help by invoking a firebird tattooed on her arm. It arises when needed to duke it out with that dark entity. Trek through various landscapes, fighting off the evildoers with the help of others you meet along the way.
This game will appeal to those who love adventure games. It is a great game as well for “tweens.” Being more of an adventure game, there are few HOP scenes and more puzzles. The game mechanics are old-school with graphics which are one-dimensional, cartoon-like and somewhat blurry. The story is a well-written sci-fi, family-oriented game. There are plenty of activities within this game, including puzzles within the HOP scenes. There are a variety of collectibles – 42 items and 30 morphing objects, some of which are not that easy to locate. Another collectible, 8 scrolls, also tell the story about the post-apocalyptic world. Locating all the items opens more puzzles in the bonus section of the game. The demo revolves around two activities – locating items to prepare an antitoxin to save a hermit, Steve, from a scorpion bite and hunting for items to unlock a chest. This is a GREAT sci-fi lite adventure game! However, it will be a pass for me. I like a little more challenge in my adventure games. However, enjoy all you sci-fi lovers!
HOP SCENES: There are only three in the demo. They are interactive lists of items and a silhouette scene in which you must find the items and then return them to the scene to interact with them.
PUZZLES: All the puzzles are easy. However, they are thematic and fit into the story nicely. Most of the puzzles are situated on a box which you must open. The puzzles include matching puzzles, sequence puzzles, assembly puzzles. There is one physical puzzle in which you avoid obstacles while driving. There is also a maze puzzle in which you must click on arrows to completely cover a grid with tokens.
LEVELS: Casual, Advanced, Hard, Custom Hint: 5 to 90 seconds Skips: 5 to 150 seconds
EXTRAS: Strategy Guide – 33 Pages Map is given to you at the beginning of the game. 22 Achievements Collect 42 items. (8 dog statues, 7 road signs, 8 scorpions, 8 pinecones, and 12 mushrooms) 30 Morphing objects. Collect all of them to open an extra puzzle in the Bonus section. Collect 8 story capsules. Collect all of them to open an extra puzzle in the Bonus section. Replay 25 Mini-games and 7 Puzzles (HOP scenes?) 10 Wallpapers, 13 Concept Art, Videos, Music

fromThis game provides an idea for a new designer pet – an animated talking animal skeleton. It makes an excellent conversational companion, never needs to be fed, never needs to be taken for a walk nor needs a litter box.
OVERVIEW: It is supermom to the rescue of the universe! Unbeknownst to you, mom - you have the birthright to and will assume the role of Guardian of the Border, savior of two worlds - the real world and Spectra, a fantasy world. An evil queen, Bella, from Spectra has crossed the borders between the two worlds, sending in dark orbs to attack the real world. She is turning everyone to stone, so she can capture and rule both worlds. Face the “stone cold truth” about this nasty queen when you return home to see your husband and daughter frozen in a zombie state. You will need to duke it out with this nefarious queen and restore the border between the two worlds. Along the way, you will get help from others while fighting those orbs. Do you have the right stuff to defeat this evil queen, un-zombify your family, and still return home in time to get dinner ready? Of course, you do. You rule mom!
This is a good game for children or those who like easy, breezy games. However, for me, this will be a pass. To me, the game is poorly designed. The graphics are grainy and blurry in many places. The gaming script seems contrived as if the developer was grasping at straws to come up with a story. You receive a gimmicky bracelet which gives you the powers of air, fire and ice which are used throughout the game. You are visually assaulted by masses of BIG BLOBS with BIG RED EYES. The excessive use of the orbs within the game was rather irritating to me. The pace is slow due to the lack of activities. You collect beasts, feathers, and light crystals.
SILENCE IS NOT GOLDEN IN SPECTRA! What a talkative bunch lives in the fantasy land of Spectra! Silence is not golden here. Everything talks in this game - from the blue -eyed floating fox, a dead animal skeleton (I especially liked seeing a dead animal skeleton converse with me), to a host of animals and even stone cold golems. Taking a quote from the game – “Please save our world” - yes, please save my gaming world from games such as this.
HOP SCENES: You have an option to play a switch puzzle in lieu of the scenes. There are mainly mini-scenes in which you locate five or six of the same item. There are also the standard scenes which include the customary lists of items, silhouette, and storybook scenes. One of the storybook scenes is very creatively designed with items well-hidden within the scene and quite of bit of interaction.
PUZZLES: The puzzles are all easy. I do feel the puzzles are excellent for children. One is a clever paint-by-number in which the player must combine colors to produce a new color to color in a picture. Another is a storybook scene in which the player must locate items and place them in the proper location. There is also a matching puzzle in which choosing the correct symbols which spells out the name Spectra. There are two physical puzzles in the demo. In one you follow a given sequence to knock out an evildoer. In the other you use your bracelet to zap some nasty beasts. A final puzzle is a maze in which you lead your homunculus (AKA mandrake) through a maze lighting all the lights.

OVERVIEW: Ready for a scary, creepy 5-star plus tale? Sit down by the campfire and hear the tale of the Quiet Grove Resort which is anything but quiet! Look carefully! Behind the dark night and smoke of the campfire you may see wisps of a dark, hooded faceless man accompanied by his beastly dog. In this game, you will play one of two reporters on an investigation at this resort to research the legend of this Faceless Gravedigger. Within ten years, several people have disappeared, never to be found, with only a single black flower placed at the scene of their disappearance. When your writing cohort, Jessica, is kidnapped in front of your eyes, you realize the tale is true and you will need to find a way to save her and unlock the mystery of this resort. But then again, it is only a legend, or is it?
I LOVE this game and it was an automatic purchase for me. Mariaglorum has developed a series which should kindle the flame for more frightening bonfire games in the future. What can be scarier than a campfire story under the dark sky in a secluded forest? The graphics are dark and brooding, a perfect setting for the game. There are quite a few activities within the game. You collect figurines of the characters and paw prints. Along with the mysterious “whodunit” aspect of the game, the pace is excellent. I felt actively engaged while playing this game.
A-MAZE-ING! The maze puzzle in the basement of the resort adds to feeling that you, the player, are like a rat in maze, perhaps being toyed with by the Faceless Gravedigger. Quite a brilliant puzzle concept adding to the mystery behind the game! For me, it is one of the better games the BFG has offered this year – well constructed with an excellent story and engaging HOP scenes and puzzles.
HOP SCENES: The scenes are standard fare. They consist of the usual lists of items, silhouette, and storybook scenes. They are somewhat interactive and thematic. One of the scenes leads directly to one of the puzzles.
PUZZLES: They are creatively designed and they vary in style and difficulty. Most of the puzzles are easy; however, the developer did provide one which is slightly more difficult. Besides the basement maze puzzle which sees you traversing through basement corridors to pick up inventory items, there are five more puzzles within the demo. Three of these are mechanical in nature – a pipe puzzle, sequence puzzle to set dials for a punch card, and a connection puzzle involving nodes and wiring. There is also a physical puzzle requiring you to center a blue-lined bullseye to knock down a net with tennis balls. A final puzzle is an assembly puzzle requiring “clicking” to restore a picture.
LEVELS: Casual, Advanced, Expert, Custom Hints and Skips: 1 to 90 seconds
EXTRAS: Map is provided as you play the game 8 Achievements: Each achievement has 3 parts Collect 9 Figurines Collect 25 Paw Prints Strategy Guide – 42 pages 17 Wallpapers, 24 Concept Art, Music, Video

PUZZLES: (1) Easy 2) Moderate difficulty (3) Difficult A. Connection puzzle. Connect two nodes of the same color with wires without crossing paths. Rating: 2 B. Pipe/Switch puzzle. Switch pieces of pipe so they are in the proper position in a water system. Rating: 2 C. Sequence puzzle (Within a HOP scene). Set buttons on a machine to create a punch card. Pressing one button affects the others. Rating: 3 D. Maze puzzle. Not listed as a puzzle but you must maneuver through a basement to locate items and then end up at a locked gate. Rating: 2 E. OVERVIEW: Get ready for more black smoke and mirrors as you head off to Siberia circa 1912. Play Eve Glover in search of her husband lost in an expedition within a cave. Once you arrive at the village, you realize that others are missing as well. A fog has invaded the village and within the fog are monsters. Behind all the fog, monsters, and missing people is a misguided spirit out for revenge for her love who was murdered. After kicking up a rampage in the community, she was locked in a cave. Could she be behind the upheaval and missing people? Is she now kicking up a storm in the afterlife? Save the community, settle the tormented spirit, and get that man back into your life along with the other missing people!
This game will be a pass for me. This is another smoke-filled game with monsters lurking within the billowy clouds of fog. The story behind the game has been portrayed in a least dozen or more games in the past. The graphics are blurry in places. You will be serenaded by howling wolves. Don’t have a “hissy” fit but there is at least one snake in this game as well. I feel the pace is rather slow. The demo had few puzzles or HOP scenes – just a great deal of traveling around the Siberian tundra. You collect owls which have no relation whatsoever to the game’s story. I usually like our Grandma’s games; however, this one I will pass on. It may get better as the game progresses; however, there is nothing in the demo which impels me to continue my journey on this Siberian trek. If you enjoy it – good for you!
HOP SCENES: The scenes are nondescript. Principally they are lists of items. There is one ray of light in the dark smoke-infested game, which is a HOP scene which is rather novel and creative. Locate items on statues and replace them within the proper location. Then, press a button to place the pictures into position. You have the option to play a Match-3 game in lieu of the puzzle.
PUZZLES: There are only four in the demo. Sorry, but I am not purchasing the game to see what the others are like. Three of them are matching and one is an assembly puzzle. They are extremely easy, boring and largely forgettable.
LEVELS: Casual, Advanced, Hardcore, Custom Hints: 10 to 90 seconds Skips: 10 to 180 seconds
EXTRAS: Map is given to you at the beginning of the game. 15 Achievements (from what I could count) Collect 80 Owls Replay of HOP scenes and puzzles 16 Wallpapers, 11 Concept Art, Music, Movies
