4 Chapters Plus a Bonus Chapter – Strategy Guide 61 Pages
OVERVIEW: Return to 1929 Rome, Italy. Play Amelia, part of the Myth Seekers. You are called into action when a fellow member, Phillip Miller vanishes. He was searching for Vulcan’s hammer, trying to locate it before Mussolini. The power of the hammer is immense, having belong to Vulcan himself. Before his disappearance, he was in possession of the Vesuvian Code, which is somehow tied to this hammer.
In a great cloak-and-dagger game, find yourself in the aftermath of a full-screen earthquake (watch your screen shimmy and shake) trying to locate the code and working against time to keep Mussolini from getting Vulcan’s hammer. This is a true cat-and-mouse thriller with a plentitude of cats throughout the scenes. However, like most cats, they are very independent and will not help you -at all!
MECHANICS: This game will appeal to all levels of gamers, those who love suspense, and/or those who are interested in Roman mythology. The gaming script is well-written. The pace is excellent. This story has more twists and turns than the mountain roads of Italy. The graphics are beautiful and well-depict the Italian countryside. There eighteen achievements – nine which are skilled based and nine which are story-based. You collect twelve pictures of Roman gods and goddesses. There are thirteen morphing objects as well. You can also replay some HOP scenes and puzzles. I have been awaiting this game and it was an automatic purchase.

META POWERS!!! Your helper in this game are five METAPOWERS! In the beta you receive the first one, a cornucopia. You should be able to defend yourself throughout the game with these handy dandy items.
HOP SCENES: There are only two in the demo of this game. One of these is a silhouette in which you locate items. However, the other is a new style of HOP scene! Instead of searching for items, you interact with the scene until you get the inventory item. I have seen variations of this in other games, but never one which is solely interactive. It is beautifully designed.
PUZZLES: The puzzles are all easy or moderately difficult. There are quite a few storybook sequences. My only slight complaint is that the Roman myths concerning Vulcan and then the Vesta Virgins, are a little too much. A great deal of time is spent in expounding on these two tales.
FAVORITE PUZZLE I did like a tangram puzzle in which you must restore a picture by placing tangram pieces in place. However, the background is a complete picture and the tangrams blend in so well with the background, they are difficult to see.
LEVELS: Casual, Advanced, Expert, Custom
Hints in HOP scenes: 5 to 60 seconds. Hints in the game: 5 to 90 seconds Skips: 5 to 120 seconds
EXTRAS:
Map is provided as you play the game
18 Achievements – 9 each of story-based and skill-based.
Collect 15 Gods and Goddesses
13 Morphing objects
HERE ARE THE DETAILS (SPOILERS) FOR THOSE WANT MORE INFORMATION ON THE HOP SCENES AND PUZZLES IN SEQUENCE

OVERVIEW: Although poet Joyce Kilmer wrote he would never see a poem as lovely as a tree, he never played this game! In truth, I hope I may never see – another Mad Head game about a tree! Ever! I love Mad Head games. We get so few of them on BFG. However, to me, this is one of the strangest and most boring demos I have played. This is a game concerns birthday girl, Kathi, receiving a tree as a present. Great present, right? The tree kills those who are in contact with it. The only way to stop this tree from killing its victims, is by using flower petals on the victims. Donna Brave, school friend of Kathi, has been called in to locate the source of this malady and stop this zombie tree from sending its roots out into the world.
NEVER GOING TO HUG THIS TREE NOR THIS GAME: The demo consists of going back-and-forth throughout a house (where this evil zombie tree is located) searching for items and then interacting with them. So, the pace is slow – very slow. After some time, I began to feel like a potted plant in this house, hoping said zombie tree would give me a leaf (which destines you do die) – to “re-leaf” me from this game. Sorry for the pun – just could not help it! There is just not enough action within this game. I fell asleep once and when I begin looking at my watch to see how long I had been playing a game. It is a non-purchase for me. The game could get better after the demo, but I don’t want to purchase it to find out. I am very disappointed, as I usually purchase every Mad Head game.
MECHANICS: The graphics are cartoon-like. You collect twenty-eight (28) magnifying glasses and there are twenty-eight (28) morphing objects to collect as well. You can replay nineteen (19) HOP scenes. Again, I wish Mad Head would allow their players to replay some of the puzzles within the game. As with many other developers’ games, there is a gimmicky medallion which allows you to view all those “hidden objects” within a scene. This is another gimmick which has been overused in games by not just this developer, but others as well.
HOP SCENES: The scenes are indicative of those seen in other games. There is nice variety of silhouette, lists of items, matching pairs, and replacement of items back within the scene. The are somewhat interactive. However, I found none which were outstanding.
PUZZLES: The puzzles within the demo are easy. I found none challenging. One of the puzzles is merely placing shoes into their correct position according to their heel marks. Another has the player place animals according to their continent. There is a chess puzzle with knights, but with its design, it is also boringly easy.
WHICH ONE IS KATHI? The developers change the appearance of the character, Kathi, throughout the game. Her hair and facial features change throughout the game. I had a difficult time differentiating her from Donna Brave. Once you have drawn a character, please stop changing her appearance.
GOOD NEWS: I know Mad Head has an upcoming game which is terrific! I do believe sci-fi and horror are their strongest suit – not this “tree rot.” Please spend more time developing those wonderful games of alternate universes, space aliens, based on all those conspiracy theories out there! Donna Brave - unless you are an alien from Planet Xenon – I think you need to take the next train back to Paris!
LEVELS: Seedling, Sapling, Bloom, Canopy, Heritage Tree
Hints and Skips: 15 to 90 seconds
EXTRAS:
Map is given to you at the beginning of the game.
Replay 19 HOP scenes
You get a memory medallion to see all those hidden objects within scenes.
10 Achievements – Some with 3 parts
Collect 28 Morphing Swirls and 28 Magnifying glasses
Wallpapers, Concept Art, Music, Card Game (played if you collect all morphing objecs
HERE ARE THE DETAILS (SPOILERS) FOR THOSE WANT MORE INFORMATION ON THE HOP SCENES AND PUZZLES IN SEQUENCE

(A) Silhouette. (B) Silhouette. Find items on gold coins. (C) Mini-HOP scene. Locate 5 buttons. (D) List of items (E) Matching pairs. Match up pairs of pipes (F) Replacement. Place items back within the scenes.
PUZZLES: (1) Easy 2) Moderate difficulty (3) Difficult
A. Connection puzzle. Rotate tiles on a grid so that the lines upon the tiles create a continuous path from one end to the other. Rating: 2
B. Matching puzzle. Place five shoes in proper locations according to slots under them which match up to the shoe heels. Rating: 2
C. Card puzzle. Never seen this before. Choose a card from your hand and try to pick up cards which equal the value of the card in you hand. First to collect 15 cards wins. Rating: 2
D. Matching. On a map, place the correct animal with its proper home continent. Rating: 1
E. Assembly. On a rotating disk on the center of a gate, rotate the disk so that the petals of flowers end up on the correct flower. Rating: 1
F. Chess puzzle. Move four knights to colored squares of their same color. Rating: 2

3 CHAPTERS PLUS A BONUS CHAPTER – Strategy Guide: 38 Pages
Welcome to another Gray family reunion! After surviving another car accident, Anna Gray returns to save more family members. This time she goes back in time to save a niece and nephew from a fellow time traveler out for revenge against the whole clan. She will get some help from her “daddy dearest,” from the spirit world. This time bending game is a nice addition to the Grim Tales series. This is an excellent game for beginning and intermediate players, along with those who like some light-hearted trips back in time. I did purchase this game. This is a decent game; however, I don’t consider it an outstanding one. For me there is no “wow” factor here. From the demo I found nothing in the way of HOP scenes nor puzzles which I have not seen in dozens of other games.
MECHANICS: The story is a good ghostly whodunit. The helper, the dearly departed, Richard Gray, provides some witty repartee with his daughter Anna. The graphics are colorful and cartoon-like. The pace is good with plenty of activities to keep you busy chasing a time traveler within the Gray mansion. There are quite a few collectibles within this game. Collect twenty-six (26) pieces to create a screensaver. You also collect fourteen (14) statues of the characters from the game. There are twenty-seven (27) morphing objects as well. I found them all easy to locate. The game appears to be short and there is no ability to replay the HOP scenes nor the puzzles.
HOP SCENES: For me, the scenes are the weakest part of the game. In the demo they lack creativity. Most are standard ones seen in other games. They include the usual lists of items along with scenes with silhouette items. There are some interactive activities within the scenes but nothing which I would call creative nor innovative. There is also a matching pairs scene. I would recommend Elephant designing more creative HOP scenes.
PUZZLES: The puzzles are tame fare. The puzzles are easy with a few of middle difficulty. In the demo, they are puzzles which have been featured in other games. Some have been modified to fit the theme. I did not play one puzzle I have not played before. I found none challenging. However, there is a nice variety in the types of puzzles.
FAVORITE PUZZLE: My favorite puzzle is a switch puzzle in which dowels above and below a lock mechanism must match up with the indentations on that mechanism. This requires switching the dowels so that when all are properly placed, the top and bottom combine with the lock mechanism to create a closed unit.
LEVELS: Casual, Advanced, Hardcore, Custom
Hint and Skips: 15 to 90 Seconds
EXTRAS:
Map is given to you at the start of the game
19 Achievements
Collect 25 pieces s to create a screensaver and 14 statues of the characters
Morphing objects: There are 27 morphing objects.
8 Wallpaper, 8 Concept Art, Screensaver, Music
HERE ARE THE DETAILS (SPOILERS) FOR THOSE WANT MORE INFORMATION ON THE HOP SCENES AND MINI-PUZZLES
HOP SCENES:
(A) Mini-HOP scene. Locate silhouette items within your purse. (B) List of items (C) Silhouette (D) List of items (E) Pairs of objects
PUZZLES:
A. Switch puzzle. Switch six triangular tokens on a box so that the lines upon each one connects with the lines on the slot in which it lands. Moving vertically rotates the triangle. Rating: 2
B. Rotating tiles puzzle. Rotate four tokens so that the lines upon them match up with the lines connected to them. Moving one affects the others. Rating: 2
C. Matching puzzle. Match five (5) dowels with the proper section on a lock. Dowels are above and below the locks and can only be moved up-and-down and next to each other. Rating: 2
D. Sequence puzzle. Move five (5) fish with variegated bodies, placing them in sequential order so that when a circle with slots for the fish is started, all the fish end up in their designated slots. Rating: 2
E. Switch puzzle. Switch four animal prints that each one matches up with the appropriate animal. Rating: 1
F. Connection puzzle. Move tokens on a grid so that all the lines within the tokens connect with each other.
G. Obstacle map puzzle. Move a golf ball from its start to a flagged hole, all while removing obstacles within its path. 2X Rating: 2
H. Matching puzzle. Enter a code based upon runes to open a safe. Rating: 1
I recommend this game!

OVERVIEW: Join the Penguin family as they travel to a magical fairytale garden via a magical book. What a wonderful Monday surprise! A BIG THANK you to BFG for offering a game in one of my favorite genres. This is another excellent 5-star game from Match Gems. have played every game in the series and this game is designed exactly like the others.
I LOVE these games and Match Gems is one of the BEST developers for this type of game. This puzzle has many different names (AKA O’Ekaki, Griddlers, Paint-by-Numbers, Pic-a-Pix, Nonograms or whatever you call them); however, no matter the name, they are a fun puzzle game.
HOW TO PLAY: This is variety of a Sudoku puzzle. In this puzzle, create pictures by filling in squares in a grid. The grids in this game will vary in size. Each side of the grid will have numbers for each line of squares indicating the number of squares which are to be filled in for that row of squares. Squares are filled in where the squares intersect between the two sets of numbers on each side.
GAME FACTS:
• Levels: Casual and Advanced.
• Colors: The game has up to six colored screens which can be switched at any time while playing the puzzle.
• Autofill: There is autofill so you do not have to fill in the unused boxes. However, you can use your mouse to right click “X’s” for unused spaces.
• Hints: Hints are given as you proceed and are based on the difficulty of the puzzle and how well you perform in solving the grid
• Number of Levels and Puzzles: There are 100 puzzles – 20 levels with 5 puzzles per level in the game.
• Aids: You have a pickax as an aid in the game
• Awards: There are 3 trophies: a gold trophy for no mistakes, a silver trophy for 1 mistake, and a bronze trophy for two mistakes. If you make 3 mistakes, you must start the game over again.
• Collectibles. When you complete one level of 5 puzzles, you receive items for your garden
I highly recommend this game if you like Sudoku games or any type of mathematical puzzle.
I recommend this game!

REVIEW BASED ON THE ENTIRE MAIN GAME: Time: 4 Hours
4 Chapters Plus a Bonus Chapter: Strategy Guide: 40 Pages
OVERVIEW: Awaken Princess Fara! As a twenty-five (25) year old heir to the Fire Kingdom, you have been asleep since your birth. Now your cursed twin, Sybil, has been kidnapped. As one of the two future queens of the Fire Kingdom, it is up to you to save your sister and restore the Fire Kingdom to its former glory. This requires both of you to locate and return the energy source to the kingdom. Find a way to rekindle the flame of the kingdom, save your sister from her evil alter ego, and restore the kingdom to its former glory.
MECHANICS: This is good game for those who love fairy tale games. The graphics are beautiful as usual for AMAX. The game is much better AFTER the demo. Unlike some developers, AMAX provides all their best material after the demo. The pace is excellent with quite a few activities to keep you busy. There is only one gimmick in this game, your ability to light anything with flame emanating from the palms of your hands. There are few extras in this game. There is no puzzle to play in lieu of the HOP scenes. However, you can replay nineteen (19) puzzles and fifteen (15) HOP scenes. You collect twelve (12) statues which supposedly give you some type of power; however, you never use any of these powers within the game. I found the statues easy to locate.
WHERE IS MY “DICKSHUNARY?” Impossible to believe! There are many spelling errors within this game. This is unacceptable for a collector’s edition. Even the name of one of the protagonists, Sybil, is spelled two different ways – “Sybill” and “Sybil.” BFG should montior these games and indicate these spelling errors to the developers.
BONUS GAME: The bonus game does not relate to the main game. It is a completely different story. However, it does involve a princess. Play a princess invited to a celebration in Temploria. Participate in “Spark Crush” in which everyone shares some of their inner flame to add to the Temploria vessel. However, there is an evildoer trying to prevent this ceremony from taking place. I have not played the entire bonus chapter but from the strategy guide, it appears to be a long chapter.
HOP SCENES: There are twenty (20) in the main game. There are several mini-HOP scenes in which you locate a small number of items. The scenes after the demo are better than in the demo. There were a few which I found very creative and well-crafted. There is one which employs cryptic clues in which the player locates three (3) items based for each cryptic clue provided. I love this type of scene. There is another scene which is a storybook scene which has the player searching for items on a globe with star constellations. Another scene has items well-hidden within a clock face. You will need to look closely to locate all those well-hidden items.
PUZZLES: There are thirty-one (31) in the main game. They vary in type and difficulty. There are four (4) which allow you to choose the difficulty for the puzzle – either casual or hard. You also play four (4) Match-3 puzzles to battle evildoers you encounter within the game. Listed below are sample of some puzzles from the game after the demo:
SPOILER ALERT: PUZZLES AFTER THE DEMO:
A. Battle the Evildoer puzzle. Match-3 puzzle. Match 3 tokens to defeat a monster. You also get power-ups and skills which can be used to defeat the enemy. You only have a certain amount of moves to defeat it. This scene is used to fight four (4) evildoers.
B. Slider puzzle. Slide moons and stars into their proper position. The items change direction as they are moved on the grid.
C. Logic puzzle. Rotate two wheels - one with symbol upon it and the other with slots for those symbols. Rotate them until you match up each symbol with its proper slot on the other wheel. You will need to logically formulate the spacing going back-and-forth and clockwise and counterclockwise to get all symbols into their proper positions. Not as easy as it looks!
D. Assembly puzzle. On a web-like grid with various cells, mark in the cells to reproduce a given image. 3X
E. Whatever floats your boat! Map puzzle. Create a route using directional arrows to row your boat to a castle avoiding obstacles in your path. You must set the route in six steps and then press start to see if you end up there in one piece!
F. Pattern Puzzle. Recreate a pattern given to you on a diagram by placing emeralds on a grid. You will need to go back-and-forth between the diagram and the puzzle to get a code right to open a door.
G. Choice between Casual and Hard. Switch and rotating tiles puzzle. Restore a picture by switching pieces and rotating them as well.
EXTRAS:
Map is provided at the beginning of the game
25 Achievements
Replay 19 Puzzles and 15 HOP scenes
Collect twelve (12) statues representing skills
8 Wallpapers, 8 Concept Art, 7 Screensavers, Music, Videos

REVIEW BASED ON THE ENTIRE MAIN GAME: Game Time: 4 Hours
5 CHAPTERS PLUS A BONUS CHAPTER: Strategy Guide: 54 Pages
OVERVIEW: Mirror! Mirror! on the Wall – Who is the meanest fairy tale queen of them all? Get prepared for Queen Nivella! Play the hot looking tag team King William and Princess Lily as they work to save their kingdoms from this nasty queen out to restore her youth. Her eternal youth will come at the expense of Lily and the inhabitants of both kingdoms.
Despite the annoying fairy at the beginning of the game, this is a beautifully crafted game! I always look forward to this developer’s games. There is also some exciting new surprise with each new game. In this game, they did this with the HOP scenes. The game is much better after the demo, with an engaging story, an excellent pace, and creatively designed HOP scenes and puzzles. This is a good game for fairy tale aficionados and puzzle lovers. However, even HOP lovers will find some incredibly beautiful and creatively designed scenes within this game.
MECHANICS: As in all their games, Domini provides all those extra goodies missing in many developers’ games nowadays. Returning is the choice in the difficulty of the puzzles between hard and casual versions. There are three collectibles including dwarven items to fill the Dwarven Museum, lilies for the Royal Chamber, and chess pieces (game characters) to fill a thematic chessboard. I found them easy to locate. There is a bar on the inventory bar indicating if all the collectibles have been collected within the scene. You can also set the difficulty for the puzzles within the main menu. However, if a puzzle is too challenging, you can always set it back to casual. You can replay eighteen (18) HOP scenes and eighteen (18) puzzles. There are thirty (30 achievements to collect.
BONUS CHAPTER: The bonus chapter is a prequel. Go back to the youth of Queen Nivella in this chapter. I have not played it totally; however, it appears to be of decent length and the quality of the puzzles and HOP scenes are excellent from what I have played.
PETER PAN WANTS TINKERBELL BACK! My only complaint is the addition of an annoying high-pitched fairy, Daisy. This nasal-pitched annoyance is truly irritating and not necessary in the enjoyment of the game. This gimmick somewhat ruined the game for me. However, she disappears POOF – after the demo! Hopefully, Domini will send all “helpers” back to their perspective fairy tale kingdoms.
HOP SCENES: There are thirteen (13) in the main part of the game. The bonus chapter probably has at least five (5) more. The HOP scenes after the demo are just incredible! It is evident Domini is aiming to become the TOP DEVELOPER on the BFG site! You can play a Match-3 game in lieu of the puzzles. After the demo there are three scenes which are breathtaking. In one you locate a variety of birds through silhouettes in a beautifully rendered scene. There is also another gorgeous “spot-the-differences” scene in which you must find differences between two halves of a tree. The final scene is a cleverly designed one in which the player locates items switching between three screens. Kudos Domini! I don’t usually like HOP scenes – but these are so well-crafted!
PUZZLES: There are thirty (30) in the main game. There are a variety of different styles of puzzles and most give you the option to choose between hard or casual versions of them. They are well-designed with excellent directions. Here are some of them
AFTER THE DEMO: POSSIBLE SPOILERS:
A. What’s Your Sign? Switch puzzle. Switch Zodiac characters on the front of the book with their symbol.
B. *Take time to Smell and Water the Roses. Pipe puzzle. Connect pipes so that they water all roses within the scene. Very clever. In the hard version, moving one pipe piece can move others as well. Just Beautiful!
C. I ‘Lava’ This Puzzle. Mathematical puzzle. By adding and subtracting numbers at the top and bottom of three tubes, fill each of them to the brim with lava.
D. Paint me a Picture! A very clever puzzle. Move a lens with an item in the middle of it to the proper position on a painting. You must rotate the pieces within the lens as well. 3X
E. Mirror, Mirror! Mathematical puzzle. Angle mirrors so that colored beams of light match up with their appropriate colored crystals.
F. A Puzzle Designed for Snowflakes! Draw lines through all snowflakes within a grid without running out of moves. You get five but can add more by landing on two tokens which give you more moves.
G. Get Into Line! Switch puzzle. Switch twelve (12) tokens with three (3) different images upon them so that each of three columns have four of the same token with them. They should match to the token at the top of the column.
EXTRAS:
Map is provided as you play the game
You can set the difficulty of the puzzles within the menu settings.
Replay 18 Puzzles and 18 HOP scenes
30 Achievements
Collect 15 dwarven artifacts, 48 lilies, 12 chess pieces

4 CHAPTERS PLUS A BONUS CHAPTER: Strategy Guide: 53 Pages
OVERVIEW: Alfred Fox! This time it is personal! Be prepared to do some sleuthing in the dark, seamier sections of the Big City as you investigate the murder of your former flame, Barbara. This is a remastered cartoon whodunit which originally featured animals as the game characters. Personally, I thought the animal characters were a novel addition to the game. However, the humans do create a darker, more realistic image to the game.
This game should appeal to those who like 1940-style film noir murder mysteries or those who like an easy-breezy game. To me, the game is creatively designed with plenty of action and a nice portrayal of the dark side of the Big City. There is some tongue-in-cheek humor, almost a satire of the film noir genre. I chuckled to see the endless adoration of Alfred Fox’ devotion to his “gorgeous” diva, - bespectacled Barbara with her chubby chipmunk cheeks. The British accents throughout are masterful and take us back to a time of the stark reality produced by those black-and-white whodunits. I am purchasing this game. It is a nice way to spend a winter day!
MECHANICS: Brave Giant has provided a decent game filled with many extras. The story is an engaging whodunit with a cast of suspects who will keep you guessing as to the culprit behind the crime. There are equal number of HOP scenes and puzzles within the game. You can replay some of the HOP scenes and puzzles as well. There is also a game to play in lieu of the scenes. You collect thirty-three (33) items, all of which are related to detective work. The items include shoe prints, handprints, and one fingerprint! Why one fingerprint – who knows?
HOP SCENES: This is a classic HOP lovers’ delight. There is a variety of different styles of scenes. They include the usual lists of items. There is one search and replace scene which requires manipulation of the items once found within the scene. There is one FROG as well. Due to the dark nature of the scenes, I found some of the items difficult to locate. You can also play a variation of a Match-3 game in lieu of the scenes.
PUZZLES: The puzzles vary in style; however, none are difficult. They are also thematic and fit quite nicely within the theme of the game. There are quite a few physical puzzles in which you punch out a baddie. There are deduction puzzles which require you to assess if a suspect is telling the truth. You also answer questions by the police chief to see if you are not involved in the murder as well. I do feel the puzzles fit the sleuthing aspect of the game.

OVERVIEW: With ring in hand, you are off to propose to the love your life, Elaine. However, be prepared for future in-law problems with her violinist brother, Theo. Theo has made a devil’s deal with a crazy masked virtuoso concerning what he refers to as the “Eternal Dance.” He has kidnapped them both. You better act quickly or the first dance for your bride will not be with you but with this masked psycho.
MECHANICS: The story is a play upon the “Phantom of the Opera,” with a masked virtuoso as the evildoer. This is a great game for music lovers with its haunting musical background. The game is beautifully illustrated as all the other games from this developer. It is truly both eye candy and ear candy as well with the haunting melodies played throughout the game. It should appeal to beginning and intermediate players or those who like easy breezy games. However, advanced players, unless you are music aficionados or have a penchant for “Phantom of the Opera,” may find the puzzles a tad too easy. I do like the romantic story behind the game. However, I do wish some of the puzzles were more difficult.
I find the pace decent within the game. For me, what sells this game is the excellent story behind the game. Mad Head is not known for many extras within their games. There is only one collectible within the game – dancing couples. I found them easy to locate. There are morphing objects within the HOP scenes. You can replay some of the HOP scenes. All the achievements have three parts so there are more to collect than in most games. There are no other collectibles nor any game to play in lieu of the HOP scenes.
HOP SCENES: This game is a HOP lover’s dream. They are the best part of the demo. There are only three in the demo, but they are better than the puzzles. Beside the lists of items, the other scenes are quite interactive in which you locate items and then return them to the scene, interacting with them within the scene. There is also a mini-puzzle within one of the scenes, a jigsaw puzzle.
PUZZLES: The puzzles are cleverly designed and thematic. However, for the most part, they are all easy – a little too easy for my taste. I wish this developer, along with others, would offer the ability to choose the difficulty of the puzzles. Some developers are now providing this feature and their games are a pleasure to play. It is truly something I think Mad Head should investigate. I also regret that Mad Head does not provide for a replay of the puzzles, although there are probably none which I would wish to replay.
FAVORITE PUZZLE: There is only one puzzle which I felt was somewhat interesting. This puzzle involves chisels with patterned ends. You must align the chisels so when placed upon a grid, each chisel matches up with indentations upon the grid. I have seen this puzzle before, but thought the concept of using chisels a novel idea.
MISSED OPPORTUNITIES - PUZZLE ME THIS! I was surprised by the missed opportunities to create puzzles within the game. In one instance, you are given a map to a house on the coast. This would have been a perfect device to offer a map puzzle of some type. Obstacles could have been placed for the player to overcome. Instead, you open the map and watch a car make its way around the map until it ends up at the house. Why the developer did not make this into a map puzzle is to me, a missed opportunity to create a better game.
LEVELS: Novice, Artist, Virtuoso, Maestro, Improviser (Custom)
Hints and Skips: 15 to 90 seconds
EXTRAS:
Map is given to you at the beginning of the game.
10 Achievements – All with 3 parts.
Cryptex – a gimmick to help in the game.
Collect dancing couples.
Replay 14 HOP scenes
There are Morphing objects within the HOP scenes.
Wallpapers, Concept Art, Music track
HERE ARE THE DETAILS (SPOILERS) FOR THOSE WANT MORE INFORMATION ON THE HOP SCENES AND PUZZLES IN SEQUENCE
HOP SCENES:
(A) List of items. (B) Multiple step. (1) List of items (2) Locate and replace items into their proper position on a shelf. (C) Same as B except this one has a mini-jigsaw puzzle.
PUZZLES: (1) Easy 2) Moderate difficulty (3) Difficult
A. Sliding rings puzzle. Slide numbered tokens into position so that the two rows of numbers match those of a given code. Rating: 2
B. Rotating tiles puzzle. On a grid, move four musical symbols to the middle of a grid. Rating: 2
C. Match-3 Puzzle. On a “cryptex” match up all jewels so that none remain on the grid. Rating: 2
D. Mathematical puzzle. Turn off valves by adding and subtracting the numbers on the valves so the total equals zero. (Number is 15) Add and subtract those numbers from 15.
E. Search and replace. Search for items and replace them back within the scene in the proper location. Rating: 1
F. Sequence puzzle. Play bells on a door in correct sequence to open it. Rating: 1
G. Matching puzzle. Place chisels in correct alignment so they match up with the shape of the cuts made at the bottom of the screen. Rating: 2
H. Sequence puzzle. Press organ keys in proper sequence to play a melody. Rating: 2

5 Chapters Plus a Bonus Chapter – Strategy Guide: 43 Pages
OVERVIEW: Welcome to Victorian London where a ghost known as the “Man of Shadows” continues his once-in-a-decade murder spree. His victims are descendants of the families who burned this former warlock, Malefic, at the stake. In this Sherlock Holmes-esque whodunit, you play Claire Arlington, a psychic medium, who has been asked by the police to verify that the deaths are murders and not accidental deaths. As you assemble evidence, analyze it and use your extraordinary powers of mediumship, you might discover there is more than meets the eye in this case. Has Malefic arisen from the grave to wrest havoc on his murderers’ descendants or is there more involved in this case?
MECHANICS: This is a bare bones game. It lacks many of the “extras” provided by many other developers; however, with a decent story accentuated with a good pace with plenty of activities, it is one worthy of play. Nevertheless, to me, it is not as good as other collector’s editions. The graphics are beautifully rendered in some scenes and blurry in others. Some of the puzzles are blurry as well - to the point I found two of them difficult to play. This would be a good game to purchase on sale, with a coupon, or as an SE. I feel this would appeal to murder mystery fans and those who like the supernatural.
This main part of the game involves gathering evidence within the scenes. At times you use a gimmicky special all-seeing glass to help you use your psychic abilities to get a supernatural perspective of the scenes. After gathering evidence, you then analyze it through a series of puzzles. There is only one collectible – hidden signs. I found them easy to locate. There are morphing objects (cards) within the HOP scenes as well.
ANACHRONISMS IN AN ALTERNATE UNIVERSE! The game takes place in 1908 London England. You, as hottie Claire, look as if you just stepped off the cover of “Vogue” – in 2018! No Gibson girl up-dos and long, corset-bound frocks for you in 1908! Cars not manufactured until the 1930’s and 1940’s are also found within the scenes along with other items not in existence during that period. However, I realize in the world of quantum mechanics, this view of 1908 Victorian England is vastly different when peering from the alternate universe within the gaming constellation of the Big Fish.
HOP SCENES: The HOP scenes are nondescript. They are indicative of those seen in most HOP games. They are somewhat interactive. They include a couple multiple-step ones with lists of items, but most were storybook and matching. Some of the storybook scenes were poorly constructed and some items were difficult to locate. My favorite were the matching scenes, which I felt were the most creatively designed. There are some mini-HOP scenes as well in which the player looks for a small amount of one item.
PUZZLES: The demo is puzzle-intense. The puzzles, except one at the end of the demo, are better than the HOP scenes and vary in style and design. The beginning puzzles are ridiculously easy; however, they become more challenging later in the game. Some of the imaging is blurry. In one puzzle, the diagram given to set hands on four clocks contained imagery so small I could not make out where the minute and second hands were to be pointed on the clocks.
FAVORITE PUZZLE: Three-dimensional maze puzzle. In this puzzle you must switch tiles on a solid to create a 3-dimensional continuous path. This appears to be a new puzzle. If not, I have never seen this puzzle before.
INCOMPLETE PUZZLE DIRECTIONS! The last puzzle in the demo was impossible for me to solve, so I skipped it! This is not something I normally do as I purchase the games to play the puzzles. I have no idea what this developer wanted me to do in this puzzle. It is an assembly puzzle which requires manipulation of the pieces to combine them and then maneuver the completed unit to the center of the grid. However, there are NO PATHS to the middle of the grid. I tried for an hour (which was way too much time to spend on this puzzle) to figure out how to combine those pieces.
EXTRAS:
Map is provided as you play the game
Get a talisman as a gimmick to help you in the game see things.
15 Achievements – some with multiple segments
Collect 32 Hidden Signs
10 Morphing objects – cards (you collect these in the HOP scenes)
8 Wallpapers, 8 Concept Art, Music,
SPOILER: THERE ARE FIFTEEN PUZZLES IN THE DEMO. THERE ARE TOO MANY TO LIST – SO HERE ARE TEN EXAMPLES IN SEQUENCE:
PUZZLES: (1) Easy 2) Moderate difficulty (3) Difficult
A. Rotating tiles puzzle. Rotate four (4) tiles to restore a pattern. All you need to do is click as the tiles turn green when they are in position. This is a puzzle? Rating .5
B. Sliding tiles puzzle. Move four (4) colored tokens to their appropriate colored box. The tokens can only move according to the direction of the arrow. The direction changes when the tokens move over arrows. Rating: 2
C. Move four (4) colored chains into matching colored slots. Rating: 2
D. Obstacle puzzle. Remove four (4) bars from a grid which are blocked with metal stays. Press on the stays to move them up-and-down (moving one, moves the others) and eliminate the bars from the grid. Rating: 2
Following three matching puzzles are used to analyze evidence:
E. Matching puzzle. Match up six bottles with the proper labels. Rating: 1
F. Matching puzzle. Match up images under tokens to restore a picture. Rating: 1
G. Matching puzzle. Choose the proper picture which coincides with evidence given. Rating: 1
H. Switch puzzle. Switch lines on a three-dimensional figure so that the paths outlined one each plane of the figure are connected. Unique puzzle. Rating: 2
I. Jigsaw puzzle. Switching between two sets of tiles available, restore a picture of a crime scene. Switch between blue light and red light. Half of the tiles are available at one time to switch. Rating: 2
J. Assembly puzzle. Rotate and move puzzle pieces to recreate a figure in the center of the grid. I HAD NO IDEA HOW TO SOLVE THIS PUZZLE. NOT ENOUGH DIRECTION GIVEN!
I recommend this game!

REVIEW BASED UPON THE ENTIRE MAIN GAME – Time: 4 Hours
5 Chapters Plus a Bonus Chapter – Strategy Guide: 57 Pages
What would you do for the one you love, your friend, or even a family member? Roll the dice and venture headlong into a game in which you must escape or forfeit your life. After your friend, Christine, is absorbed within a game, your quest to rescue her finds you captured as well. Time is of an essence in this game as a madman, Charles, has trapped you within it. You must win at all costs or you and your friend will be find that this game will be your last! This is a fast-paced adventure game with plenty of activities to keep you entertained. The developer delivers a wondrous philosophical adventure well worth the price. As the scouts always state, “Be Prepared!” This game is a long trek into the fields of imagination! Job well-done Domini!
JUMANJI MEETS LORD OF THE RINGS! To me, this game is a trek through the colorful jungles of Jumanji with characters from “Lord of the Rings” including elven folk, dwarves, trolls, and dragons. All these creatures live in this game - the Game of the Three Worlds. There is even a ring to be found “my pretty” within this game. The graphics are phenomenal. Although this is a dark-themed game, the scenes are filled with lush colors throughout. I do think the game is a good one for teens, those who love adventure games, puzzle lovers, and even those who love fairy tale games.
FLOATING CHARACTERS: Like ships passing in the night, within this game, you will meet a host of characters which just disappear! I would love to know what happened to some of those characters. You meet Leanne, a fellow gamer, but she stays with you for two scenes and POOF! She disappears! Please don’t introduce characters and leave them stranded within the pages (and jungles) of this game!
BONUS CHAPTER: I did not complete the bonus chapter. I plan to finish it up in the next couple days. It is a logical and good sequel to this game. Enter the Elven kingdom and try to help restore order to the Three Kingdoms. From what I have played, the puzzles and HOP scenes are consistent in excellence with the main game.
MECHANICS: This game provides three collectibles. There are fourteen (14) cards of the characters from the game, twelve (12) artifacts, and sixty-three (63) gold nuggets. There are three indicators on the inventory bar which shine brightly if one of these is to be found within a scene. To me, this is a nice touch! I found the collectibles easy to locate. There are many achievements (32) within the game. You can also replay eighteen (18) HOP scenes and twenty (20 puzzles) as well. You can also select the difficulty of the puzzles within the game menu; however, if you do change your mind, you can change the difficulty for puzzle when you play it. It is truly these small details which make Domini the developer to beat!
HOP SCENES: Domini has a couple of new concepts for HOP scenes within this game. There are fifteen (15) HOP scenes (including mini-HOP scenes) in the main game. The others for replay are in the bonus section. They include the normal list of items, silhouette, and storybook scenes. I found the scenes in this game to be more interactive than in some of their past games. Although there are no puzzles within the HOP scenes, you are required to search for items in which to interact with the scenes.
NEW HOP CONCEPT: Within this game is a new HOP scene I have not seen in other games. It requires to player to search for an item, use the item to interact with the scene, and then find the silhouette matching the final action to remove the silhouette.
PUZZLES: As usual, Domini has more puzzles than HOP scenes within their games. This is a puzzle-lover’s dream! There are thirty-one (31) puzzles in the main game. Most are exquisite and well-designed. There are others in the bonus chapter as well. I do wish Domini would provide more of their puzzles to replay; although I do like the selection they have provided. There are so many unique puzzles within the game, I could only comment on the few I chose. There are some new elements in some of their puzzles. I found the instructions concise and easy to follow on even the most difficult ones. There is one puzzle I consider the BEST INNOVATIVE PUZZLE in some time: Here are samples of SOME of the puzzles AFTER THE DEMO:
A. Bulls-eye puzzle. A unique application of this puzzle. Using an arrow, pinpoint the direction you wish to bomb and destroy some elephant tusks (I think they are elephant tusks) then click on the green bar to detonate them. You have only four (4) chances to knock out all the tusks.
B. Switch puzzle. On a rope with six hanging segmented tubes, switch the segments of the tubes so that each tube has the appropriate segments which match by design.
C. Assembly puzzle. In a unique approach to this puzzle, restore an amulet by placing the pieces into their proper location. However, in this case, you must turn the amulet – NOT the pieces to match them up to the location.
D. Matching puzzle. Arrange runes on two sides of a stone tablet so that each rune matches up with the rune across from it on the tablet.
E. Moving marbles puzzle. Move four sets of colored marbles to their appropriate location on a circular grid. Use a rotating collector to collect and disperse the marbles to the right location
F. BEST NEW INNOVATIVE PUZZLE! Mathematical puzzle. Use three tokens which can be moved to numbers upon a clock. The number upon which it rests (1-12) will move one of the clock hands a certain amount of spaces. Colored tokens must be placed on the number next to the hand of the same color to move it. Your aim is to move the clock hands to match a given time. Such a neat puzzle. I am very impressed!
G. Sequence puzzle. An oldie but goodie. Remove iron bars in sequence from a grid. The bars are interlocked with each other.
H. Strategy puzzle. Use arrows to move up and down and sideways to collect seashells while avoiding fish in your path.
I. Final toughie. Mathematical puzzle. Angle beams of light so they connect with their matching colored beam. Not for the weak of heart! Moving the colored lights may also move others as well so they will not stay in place after you have centered them. Good luck!
EXTRAS:
Map is provided as you play the game
32 Achievements
Collect 14 Cards of characters in the game, 12 Artifacts, and 63 Gold nuggets
Replay 18 HOP Scenes and 20 Puzzles
21 Wallpapers, 20 Concept Art, Videos, Music
I recommend this game!
