Good grief, I can't think of 1 thing good to say about this game. I've played some rotten tomatoes but this one takes the cheese.
Slow, boring and one of those games you have to jump all over the place to complete a simple task. Transporter map is totally useless and I just used the hint to transport around and around and around until I just couldn't take anymore of the game and deleted it.
Voice overs and characters were just awful. Scenes and HOS were dark and the mini games/puzzles...well don't get me started. I purchased this without demo because the original reviews were 5 star. I was certainly duped by that. I would give it a 1 star but I really dislike the word "hate". I wish BF would come up with another word for 1 star like "really a loser".
I purchased this without demo because of the rave reviews and what a mistake that was. Game was not a smooth flowing game, in fact changes between scenes, etc were very very slow thus making the game quite tedious.
By trying to make the puzzles and HOS creative they were just as slow and tedious...I got to the point I just exited out and dumped the game. Colors were dark and off. I really can't say very much was good about this game. Not sure where all the great reviews were from. I've never had a game move so slowly both in storyline and mechanics.
Smooth flowing game with excellent voice overs, graphics and animations. Always hard to come up with new storylines, but this one worked well even though you may have played games like it.
Interesting puzzles but if you pick "custom", you can set the timer to 1 second and skip most of them like I did...I'm not a puzzle person. HOS were unique and different enough so it didn't rank in there with same-o, same-o. LONG game and the storyline did get confusing for me occasionally. Although the game was smooth flowing, I wouldn't say it was easy. It took some thought and had some interesting ways of solving things.
You will like this game and you can opt for more difficult levels. Since at the beginning it appears you can chose different "assignments", no matter what you chose, its the same story (game) but may have a different challenge level...I tried to see if they were different by changing my name.
I saw I had purchased the first in this series so I thought I would give the demo a go. I got so bored I almost fell asleep. Maybe the one I have is bad too.
Voice overs were weird and the potion making was too. Very standard Match 3 game. Glad I didn't just buy it outright.
I love the Laruaville series. I have all the games in this series and buy without demo because I know they are going to fun, however I was a little disappointed in this one as it did not seem to have as much challenge not only in match 3 play, but also in the additional games like the card game, find the difference and there was only one or two hidden object. It also seemed to run a bit slower at times.
I was able to beat the levels in 1-2 minutes. Game was still fun, but got a little tedious after awhile. I remember the others as being more challenging.
I really like match 3 which I prefer to play, however this match 3 is very bland...nothing new to how it is played. It probably would be better if it didn't take so long and so many $ points to achieve a fish or "building" in the scene. Got real boring and frustrating very quickly.
You could chose the kind of board and type of match 3 you wanted to play, but that was about it. Long, long, long game. Started out fun, but got old fast. I played the non timed game and I can't imagine how slow and frustrating it would be timed. There are better match 3 games out there.
Wow, I am apparently the only one who found this game extremely slow and boring. Could not even get past the demo before exiting. Characters moved very slowing so I found it to be more of a finger tapping game with what seemed to be a lot of slow steps to get anything done.
So glad I didn't just use a credit to buy it based on reviews.
I have all these Edgar Allan Poe games and there was only one (the name escapes me) which I felt was not worth the money. Apparently I'm the lone ranger on this one because I thought it was great.
A long game whose only flaw I saw were the scenes, HOG and puzzles were a bit dark and hard to see at times. I'm not a "critical cathy" when it comes to expecting a game to echo the real story so my review is not based on that at all, but just the play-ability of the game. I found the game played smoothly, was entertaining and the HOGs and puzzles were creative and fun.
Choosing the "custom" setting I was able to quickly skip any puzzle I didn't like or have patience to play and the hint came in hand if I chose not to use the map all the time.
Voice overs were good and you could skip the cut scenes if you chose too. I really cannot find any big flaws in this game and totally enjoyed it. However, it did end with a snap..I guess the "over priced" collector's edition didn't but I don't find those worth the money to get a more elongated ending.
Fun game...don't let the dismal reviews get your down. At least play the demo and make your own decision.
I don't know, maybe this gets better but I played about 5 levels and found it to be the same-o, same-o...really boring. I didn't see any skill needed to play except to click on homes to build. A game needs to snag you right off the bat or continuing to play just won't happen. Maybe that is the problem with this game...it just wasn't worth it to waste time waiting for it to get better.
Way too much dialog which really got irritating. I would have given it a 1 star, but I dislike the word "hate".
