If there were ever a hidden object game where time was of the essence, this would be it. Your love was kidnapped and now you must travel through the realm to the castle to save him/her (depending on which gender you chose).
There are normal hidden object scenes with pieces of objects you must use to get one key item in that scene. Most of the scenes are "battles" with consistently more powerful dark creatures in forests, caves, etc. Use the beginning battles to get acquainted with the items and which magics will be super effective on certain creatures. You can replay any scene you've already passed.
Don't click on an item if you're not sure of what it is! Every wrong click is a penalty that can be avoided if you just hover your mouse over the item and memorize the name.
The time restrictions make the game challenging and fun! I played a few of the scenes over just to get a perfect score. All in all, the game is worth buying and playing!
With an air of mystery and beautiful graphics, this game doesn't disappoint! As the first of the Dark Parables games, you are introduced into a world of real fairy tale princesses and godmothers with a darker twist.
The game itself is pretty long and any bonus with collector's editions is worth it. Briar Rose was the first Dark Parables game I played and I fell in love with the graphics and the stories and I've played the others with just as much enthusiasm.
The challenge could be a little higher, but the game is still entertaining. The ending is a good lead-in to the second game in the series. Expect to "use" each hidden object scene twice, so if you're stuck, just check the scenes you haven't visited in a while to see if they're active.
Beginner or expert, this game is fun and you'll probably end up finishing it in one sitting.
Like the other games in this series, True Love is filled with entertaining HO scenes and mini games and gorgeous graphics. The scenes are realistic the house is beautiful!
The objective is preparing a house for a 50th wedding anniversary party by decorating rooms and reliving the couple's marriage through a scrapbook filled with mini games and HO scenes. It doesn't get repetitive and the HO scenes contribute to the storyline, so you feel like you're getting somewhere. The scenes are full, but they aren't crowded and items are easy to find.
This game is on the longer side, but good for beginners who want a HO game with plot.
I recommend this game!

This is a lighter vampire story, so if you're into vampires, but don't want to play one of the darker games, this fits the bill. It has an interesting storyline paired with good graphics. Though the story is a bit cliché, it is still fun to play and the ending leads perfectly into what could be a just-as-entertaining sequel.
The challenge was there but wasn't over the top, so this game would be great for beginners and experts alike. The mini games were more difficult than the actual HO scenes.
I was immediately drawn to this game because I love scrapbooking and you do get to scrapbook at the end of each section. However, the real challenge is finding stickers and other small items in drawers, on shelves, etc.
My biggest peeve with this game is how small many of the objects were. Thankfully, there is a handy magnifying glass, but you shouldn't need one in a decent HO game. If you can't find something, chances are it is hidden too well in a container of similarly colored objects. Yes, items are supposed to be hidden, but definitely not impossible to find without a hint or magnifying glass. I had to play this game in small increments because I would get frustrated with the microscopic items needed to move on.
On the plus side, the scrapbooking mini-games at the end of each level are fun and it's easy to get full stars for each page if you just let your creativity flow.
The game is fairly long with a repetitive scenes. It's a good game for beginners.
If you're into more light-hearted, happily ever after hidden object games, then The Beach Cottage is for you! The game has beautiful graphics and a wonderful soundtrack that make the scenes more realistic. I was pulled in from the first few minutes of the demo and just had to buy the game! It was one of the first Big Fish games I've purchased and I've played it twice! It has lovely scenes, a large area to explore, and a story that will give you a warm, fuzzy feeling when it's over. In the midst of darker, more sinister HO games (which I also love), this bright and cheery story is great for those who want to finish the game happy. :)
Enter the world of Drawn. Explore the Painted Tower and unravel its mysteries on your quest to save the hope of the kingdom. Can you reach the top of the tower?
Usually there's a trade-off with graphics, storyline, and/or gameplay in HOGs, but Drawn has it all. The soundtrack and graphics are breathtaking and contribute very successfully to the storyline. Though the Drawn series games are on the short side, they are still fun to play if not for the interesting story, but for quality of graphics you'd only dream of seeing in more HOGs.
The puzzles are more challenging than finding items, though it can be difficult to figure out where the item goes.
The voice acting was superb and even though the game isn't long, it's fun for any level of HO gamer.
I recommend this game!

Yes, it's a vampire story, but that doesn't even begin to cover it!
As in most HOGs, you aren't looking for objects, but pieces of objects that you'll need to access other areas or repair other objects. Therefore, everything you collect helps you, unlike the run-of-the-mill HOG where one of the objects you find out of the whole scene goes in your inventory. The pieces are pretty easy to spot, though I had to use a few hints, giving it a good challenge level.
There's also a fun mini game-like extra that's reminiscent of dominoes. You can access this throughout gameplay.
There's a lot of backtracking that can throw you for a loop, but the "vampire powers" you gain throughout the game will help since many of the areas have multiple entrances. These powers will also help you access sealed off areas since in the beginning, the explorable region is limited.
It's a solid few hours of gameplay with two possible endings, leaving room to play again. In fact, the storyline was so interesting, I repeated the game just to get the alternate ending.
If you're a beginner, this is a good game to introduce you to hidden object games with decent stories, and if you're an expert, it is still fun to play!
It is refreshing to find a HOG with a main character that actually has personality. She's not all unicorns and rainbows and it makes her more believable . Dahlia's sharp wit and sarcasm will have you laughing and hanging onto every word!
I played it through in one sitting, and although it was short, it was definitely entertaining. The scenes weren't too difficult and the challenge could have been higher, but the realistic voice acting and storyline made up for it. I'd play it again just to relive the humor and spend a little more time with the ever-intriguing Dahlia.
Definitely play it if you like vampires, humor, and HOGs! The only negative is that it was way too short!!! Sequel please!
A mysterious fortune teller has foreseen her demise at midnight this very day. Can you find the soul who seeks to kill Madame Fate? You be the detective.
Madame Fate has foreseen her own death and you must investigate every member of the carnival....and that place is crowded!
This is one of the few HOGs that I've felt has been worth the price in terms of gameplay, variety, and duration. It will seem like it goes on forever, even when you get to the last few carnival workers!
Though some of the scenes are repetitive, there are scenes within scenes and mysterious morphing objects to find as a bonus. The Crystal Ball puzzles at the end of each "chapter" are the most fun and the most challenging. If you think outside of the box, you'll figure them out!
Just a hint, have an anagram solver open just in case! :)
All aspects of this game were fun! Go and play it!
