I bought the first two Gizmos games, but decided not to buy this one for several reasons.
First, the game's screen is even narrower than a non-widescreen game, so over a third of my laptop screen is black when playing, not even any sidebars--what a waste! Second, you must play against the clock on each level or you cannot get a "gold" rating; there is no option to play untimed. Third, if you use any hints, you cannot get a "gold" rating. I end up playing one level over and over again in order to not use any hints and to beat the clock. Fourth, the pictures created by the filled-in and empty spaces do not make sense--I expect a flower to look like a flower or a snowflake to look like a snowflake, for instance, and these do not.
The cute story, backgrounds, and characters don't make up for the gameplay. I play a lot of nonogram puzzle games, and this doesn't challenge me--it does, however, irritate me. I know I'm going against the flow here, since the other reviewers seem thrilled with Gizmos, but I prefer the Fantasy Mosaics games to Gizmos.
I don't recommend this game.

If you liked A Magnetic Adventure or the Crazy Machines games, you'll like MouseCraft. The puzzles are challenging, and they keep adding different things to help or hinder your progress--bombs, mechanical mice, etc. The limitations are plainly explained: the mice can jump down three blocks but can jump up only one, etc. The background with the cat and the foreground with the mice are cute and different than the usual graphics. A definite buy for me.
I recommend this game!

Gizmos: Riddle Of The Universe
A mysterious device has crashed into Kurt the Mechanic's garage. Help Kurt and his friends decipher its strange message!
I'm a nanogram fan. This game gives a few easy levels then quickly becomes much more difficult, which is good. I used the game cursor and did NOT have any problems with the cursor being one square off when I clicked on a square, nor did I have any technical problems. I think that the steampunk gremlins are cute. I like the unusual graphics of the backgrounds and level screens. I play with the sounds and music muted, so I can't comment on them.
I recommend this game!

9 Elefants
Follow our intrepid investigators as they explore this unique Paris setting that combines fantasy and the Crazy Years.
Lots of brain-teaser puzzles! The story is pretty good, and I like the graphics because they're different than most of the games I've seen recently. The film canisters are indeed hard to catch; I have to hope it pops up near my mouse pointer and remember to click only once.
I recommend this game!

First, this game is much longer that I expected from an SE; when I thought it was going to end, I found had 5 more rooms to clear, which was a pleasant surprise.
Second, I liked the art work, which is somewhat different than the usual offerings. Yes, it's dark and creepy, but I didn't feel irritated like I usually do when made to pick through a pile of trash--perhaps because the HOSs are presented in a slightly different manner than most. I would warn parents that there are startling moments when ghosts jump out at you, so it might not be suitable for younger kids; after I had the creepy woman in the attic jump out at me over and over again, it became less creepy and more funny, so if you're scared by it, the game gives you a perfect opportunity to face what scared you.
Third, Shadow Shelter is the most frustrating and most rewarding game I've played in a long time. I'd get frustrated at not knowing what to do or where to go, and then I'd do something right and I was happy and excited to move ahead. Other people have complained about the lack of a walkthrough and the vagueness of the hints, but I found that NOT being told exactly where to go and what to do made the game much more of a challenge. I did get hints by reading the Big Fish forum for this game, without which I'd still be struggling to figure out a couple of the games.
I don't use sound when I play, so I can't comment on that. Storyline was one we've all played before--saving the demon-possessed child. I played in Easy mode, but I'm going to wait a month and play it again in hard mode, just to see how well I do.
I recommend this game!

IF you enjoy mosaic games, as I do, this is a nice one to have. You begin with only two mistakes allowed, but as you progress you can buy more--and you buy them with points and "candy" you've earned, not with "real" money, as you have to in Royal Riddles (to which this game bears a marked resemblance). You have to earn enough points to open the next locked level, and I had to go back and replay some in order to earn those points (which I think is good). I enjoy the challenge that this game provides; I'm not even halfway through and the puzzles have become tough, but not impossible. There is no story line to speak of, and the backgrounds are not the best artistically, but since I'm more interested in successfully competing the mosaic, a story and backgrounds that you can't see most of the time are unnecessary. I cannot comment on the music, since I play with the sound turned off. Overall, it's a decent addition to this genre of games and I give it four stars.
