I am not sure why someone in that house (or anyone for that matter) would wait for you (the photographer) to show up to commit a murder. Lots of things in that game don't really add up. Other reviewers have pointed out the anomalies (see the reviewed CE), so I won't go into details. Let me just say that I didn't read any of these reviews prior to playing the demo so as not to be influenced by them, only after, and I must admit that what I saw of the first chapter left me scratching my head.
Not because the game is difficult, no, but because everything is pretty much disjointed. I did not enjoy the storyline, even though the voice acting is quite good. But the characters are just cardboard cuts that look as lifeless as a Greek statue, and no lip sync either.
Your investigation (if you can call it that) is confined to a few rooms, always the same ones, with a brief incursion outdoors. Visiting the same locales over and over again becomes rather tedious. And that means a lot of back and forth.
Tasks are unimaginative. Get a door knob to open... a door (why is it missing ?), clean a mirror with glass cleaner and handkerchief (you're the photographer, not the maid !), retrieve a hair pin to pick the lock of a suitcase in order to get what you need to develop a photo, take the dial of a washing machine, that's running, place it on, the machines stops and what's inside? a key !... etc... One funny bit: give a blackberry to a bird.... and the bird gives you the hairpin ! Clever birdie ! Now come on ! Just a few examples.
The HO scenes are standard, and as usual totally irrelevant. But HO junkies will sure love them.
Minigames / puzzles are dead easy and not much fun to play.
I think this game is worth 3 stars for beginners or not too demanding players that want something fairly relaxing to play on a rainy day. But to me, it's only a 2 star game, that I found uninteresting and mainly boring.
Do play the demo anyway, you might beg to differ and hopefully enjoy the game a lot more than I did.
I don't recommend this game.

This is the third Final Cut I have tried, and so far I haven't been impressed by any of them. This Fame Fatale (or should it be Femme Fatale ? - did the devs try to make a bad pun ?) is just lame.
Set aside that not much creativity has been put into the making of this game, set aside that you get too many of the old, rehashed type of HO scenes full of items that bear no relevance to the story, the worst part is the totally illogical tasks and steps you have to make and take to progress through the game.
You gather odd items like an elephant's head which you have to place on an elephant's body (that's missing its head, of course,.. what else ?) to repair a fountain that's sitting at the entrance of a festival hall in which you're supposed to go, right under the eyes of a bouncer that doesn't give a dime about anything you do as he just wants you to show him your invitation, all this in order to get a glass of water to give a girl sleeping in a tent (yes she is sleeping on the job) whose task is to ask you for your invitation. And if you don't give her a candy bar too (which you got in the most unlikely place), no deal, she goes back into a slumber ! Seriously !
Not only that, but you also have to retrieve a hairpin from that tent to get the empty glass from the car (the glass that you have to fill in at the fountain, you know, the glass you have to give the sleepy girl !!!), then a bit later, you have to rummage in a bush (again right next to the bouncer... and a couple of guests) in order to retrieve a bulb and a key !!
Just normal doings in a normal place !!
The rest of the game is just as stupid. Another example: You have to put a token in the jukebox. You think it might be to play some music despite the fact there is already some ambiance music playing ? Nope ! All you get is a broken piece of record that you will have to use to open, guess what ? a sea shell.... "without damaging it"... as per what the heroin says. All of this (and more of the same stuff) in a venue with plenty of people around.
And that is just the beginning. At that point I was hoping the puzzles and minigames would up the antes and give me a nice bone to chew. Not my day ! They're all unoriginal, dead easy and perfectly boring.
Did I mention that due to the totally disjointed and illogical sequence of required actions you have to do a lot of back and forth ? You do ! As a result, I had to resort to clicking the hint button every minute or so, something I've never done in any of games I own or tried, save, maybe, in games that I did try and were worth no more than 1 star.
Add to all this that the graphics are not sumptuous, just adequate, kinda art retro, if you like that style, although clear and colorful, and you will have a fair picture of what to expect.
Very boring, utterly annoying, no logic, just a waste of time. I'm giving 2 stars out of pure generosity in the hope Eipix will do a lot better some day, but the game is hardly worth 1 star.
I don't recommend this game.

(Based on the demo)
The trial version only lets you play the first chapter. I will not reveal its contents, that would be a spoiler, because part of the enjoyment is to find out what happens as you go along, else there would be no suspense.
I enjoyed the first two Mysteries in the series and this third installment is on par with the others. It's an investigation, a mystery (as the title suggests) that you have to solve since you're playing a detective.
Many things in that game are original, others a little less.
The graphics are pleasant to the eye, crisp and colorful. The cinematics are rather nice, never intrusive, and the voice overs sound natural enough. I didn't pay much attention to the music, I never do unless it is exceptional.
The storyline mixes fantasy with a more tangible world, with an unusual view on horticulture as the basic theme. You will see what I mean when you play the demo.
Puzzles and minigames are interesting and bear witness to an effort towards creativity on the part of the developers. They are not difficult, just mildly challenging, and can be solved with relative ease.
Interesting, too, and fun to play are the interactive HO scenes, never cluttered, always clear. No problem identifying the items you need to find, no problem locating them either. I don't like HO scenes, but I must admit a lot of improvement has been made in that field lately, so much so I didn't mind playing them in this game.
The game won't have you run around endlessly in circles, just a little bit of backtracking, every task you have to accomplish is rather easy to figure out, and likewise the places you have to visit. Objectives are clearly stated anyway, and you have a map for quick navigation.
The only thing one might complain about is that there is no info in some of the minigames (not many) so you first have to figure out what the goal is. But there again, nothing really difficult.
Four levels of difficulty. If you play on Casual, you will have plenty of hints that point at items in the HO scenes and show you where to go next.
The CE includes a Strategy Guide, a Bonus Chapter, minigames that I believe are those you already play while solving the mystery and extras like achievements and collectibles.
A fair game in every respect, that has a good balance of HO scenes, puzzles, minigames and investigation. Not in the least boring, the plot is bound to retain your attention and make you want to go through each chapter to see how it ends.
Still, as always, do play the trial version before deciding whether to buy the game or not. I think the CE is a good buy but you may want to wait for the SE if you don't care much about the extras.
I recommend this game!

I found the graphics gorgeous, the storyline somewhat interesting, and the puzzles worth a try although the very first one took me ages to solve.
Apparently, there is no reset button for any of these puzzles. So, if you start them wrong (as I did for the first one, my bad, I know) you've got to keep clicking until you get it right. And that might take some time and quite a bit of frustration. Also, some of them can only be solved by the trial and error method. Another frustrating option !
The other thing I didn't like were the HO scenes. They are interactive, but not only do you get too many of them (and I don't like HOS) but they're also the usual junkpile where no object is clear (some of them are not even visible). And of course, the items are totally useless. When will devs finally decide to do away with this kind of rubbish and let us have HO scenes that make some sense, that serve a true purpose ? Is that too much to ask ?
Finding useful objects and using them was not overly difficult, despite the fact that their use is not always entirely logical. However, you need to do a lot of going back and forth to pick up one item in one locale and use it in another spot located "miles" away. Too much running around quickly becomes tedious and that's something else the devs should improve for their next game. That doesn't mean a game has to be linear, but a bit more thought into it would make the adventure a lot less boring. It has been done before, it can be done again.
Luckily, on "Regular", the hint system is quite helpful. So if you are stuck, it relieves much of the frustration. But what's the point in using hints often ? A well thought out game should be perfectly logical, give you the opportunity to use your brain cells to solve problems and puzzles, and not merely force you to guess what the devs had in mind for this or that.
I don't understand how this game was rated 5 stars by so many players. It's not worth that much. I guess these players are enthusiastic, some of them will even give 5 stars to just about anything. I may be nitpicky, I may be a difficult customer, but the truth is that I have found many better games on BFG, and, still, only a handful deserve 5 stars.
So, should I recommend this game ? No, unless you're content with just an average game, an okay game, unless you have not played anything a lot better before or have a credit you need to desperately spend. I am giving it 3 stars out of pure generosity. As for me, this is definitely a no-buy, not even on a Daily Deal.
I don't recommend this game.

Although the story is kinda silly and didn't really thrill me, what I saw of the game while playing the demo was fairly enjoyable.
It is clear the devs have tried to come up with something a little different and in doing so have shown a fair amount of creativity.
The aquatic theme is nice, with a cute playful little dolphin that loves helping you whenever he can. The adventure is set in nicely rendered graphics, all very colorful, crisp and well drawn.
The adventure side is classical; you are tasked with finding objects and put them to use, some of which have appeared many times in other games. Applying them is not overly difficult, even without the help of the hint system.
Not much going back and forth either, something that's always a good feature. You don't have to run around endlessly to figure out what to do next. Pretty straightforward.
The HO Scenes are fun to play as for once they don't include a lengthy laundry list of utterly useless items. Instead you get silhouettes of objects you have to combine with another object in order to obtain a third one. Not always obvious, but with a bit of patience you can complete these HO scenes without straining your brain... or your eyes: They are clear and uncluttered.
However, as another reviewer rightly pointed out, most of these combinations don't make much sense and turn out to be totally irrelevant to the adventure in general.
You will find many puzzles throughout the game, a few of which are witnesses of the devs's desire for creativity. Unfortunately, half of them can only be solved by trial and error as they don't call for logic. I wouldn't say they are really hard, but they sure do constitute a challenge for beginners and players who don't have much patience. Not an issue for me, I love puzzles of all kinds, but I admit they can be frustrating. Good news: they can be skipped !
Another complaint one can formulate is that the cutscenes are just so-so. They could have been crafted in a much better way with characters that don't look so much like wax statues. Nonetheless, they're adequate and help the story unravel smoothly.
All in all, a game that doesn't shine by its perfection but that you might not want to overlook altogether. I think it's ideal for a rainy day. In my opinion, a fair rating would be 3.5 stars. But as we don't go by halves at BFG, I'll give it 4 stars.
I recommend this game!

Want to make deal with Death ? Then this game is for you.
But certainly not for me.
It's violent, gory, morbid, gruesome, with a permanent sense of doom all throughout and the hand of death everywhere.
In short, it's sick, sickening.... and highly disturbing... to say the least.
The story is dubious and unclear: you go back in time now and then in an attempt to change impending disasters and save people from an awful demise. That's why, at one point the game asks you if you want to make a deal with Death. I didn't complete the game, but I guess that if you say "Yes" you sell your soul, and I dare not think what horrors are in store if you answer "No".
Add to that a profusion of skeletons, graves, just name it, all of them set in the most gloomy surroundings ever.
Other than that, nothing outstanding, just pretty much the same stuff you get in other games:
- the HO scenes are few and far between, and easy, but you can switch to a (very boring) match game if you do not want to play the HO scenes
- a few minigames that are not challenging, also very easy, and not worth writing home about
- nothing new in the type and use of the "useful" objects (use key, light lamp, climb ladder....)
- the game is linear, with very little backtracking
- if you play on "Casual" you won't have any problem finding your way from A to B or finding out what to do, and with an extremely generous Hint system, you might complete the game in no time. Else, you have three other levels of difficulty to choose from
- the cutscenes are rather intrusive (there are quite a few of them) and not particularly appealing as they are as depressing and unsettling as the rest
- the voice overs are okay though. Ditto the clear and crisp graphics.
I suggest you stay away from this game and find something better and more cheerful.
I don't recommend this game.

Review based on the demo - Collector's Edition
I won't go much into details as other reviewers have described the game at length. I'll just tell you what I liked about it.
The story is pure fantasy, of course, but it is interesting, well written, well narrated and the plot unravels nicely.
The characters are convincing, and act natural, although they may appear a bit stiff at times.
Dialogs (voice overs) are good too, giving you the information you need without unnecessary blah blah.
The cutscenes have been kept short and to the point.
I would have expected higher quality in the graphics, but they are clear enough, and quite satisfactory.
I played the demo on "casual". I always do when I try a new game. Well, that level of difficulty is very easy indeed but you can change it any time and select a higher level of difficulty.
On "Casual", Hints recharge in a matter of seconds. They are extremely helpful, showing you exactly where to go next, what to do, and accurately point at items in the HO Scenes.
However, you don't really need hints, no more than a SG or a walkthrough, whatever level you choose. It's a very easy game overall.
The HO Scenes (HOS) are fun to play, even for me who usually hate them. Uncluttered, interactive, with just the right amount of items, they neither strain your eyes nor force you to goggle at the screen for hours in search of the ubiquitous and devilishly hidden tiny tiny tiny stuff that you get in too many other games as part of a huge junk pile.
Of course half of these items are useless, as always, but that didn't bother me as, for once, I enjoyed playing these HO Scenes. You have the option to play a jigsaw puzzle if you don't want to go through a HOS, but, quite frankly, it would be a shame to skip them, they're so easy !
Easy too is the adventure side. A bit of back and forth, yes, but no excessive backtracking. You don't even need the map. As for the useful items, you won't have a problem finding them and applying them where needed.
The puzzles (I don't consider a HOS is a puzzle) and minigames are also good fun to play. Some will make you think a bit, yet nothing insane or unreasonable.
There is a slight eerie atmosphere about that game. But I'm happy to say it's neither overly creepy nor morbid. Just fantastic.
It's an investigation, so you need to pay attention to the dialogs and the clues, that's part of the enjoyment. In other words, I suggest you don't skip the cutscenes.
Now, big question: should you buy the CE or wait for the SE? The CE has no bonus chapter, as far as I could see. You only get awards and collectibles plus wallpaper, music, etc... The SG is superfluous due to the easiness of the game. I will definitely buy this game in its SE form, but that's just my choice, because I don't care about awards or collectibles. You might think otherwise.
And as always, try the demo before you buy. However I would be surprised if you did not like this game, it's well put together, offers a nice challenge for beginners and is quite relaxing for seasoned players.
I recommend this game!

Never seen anything like it !
Saying that this game is the epitomy of frustration is a sweet euphemism.
I played the demo, as I always do prior to deciding whether a game is worth buying or not.
Good job I did.
After 50 minutes of that demo, I was still running from Scene 1 to Scene 2 to Scene 3, back to scene 1 then to Scene 2, then to Scene 3... and back again, without any hope of going any farther,
And in all that time, all I got was:
- some sort of hair thinggy, which I put under the microscope in the car (that was a minigame, see below) and then the thinggy went into the inventory.
- a chat with some dude who kept telling me "speak to the manager" over and over again
- and that manager kept telling me "What can I do for you Detective?"..... over and over again
Each time tI tried to talk to them they would come up with the same lame phrases.
So scene 1: the car, scene 2, the dude, scene 3 the manager and the corpse.
In one of the scenes, There was a bush that needed attention. But I couldn't do anything because the only thing I had in the inventory was the the hair thinggy. There was also one angel statue that was missing something, But there again, nothing in the inventory or elsewhere to fix that.
And as there was no way to move to another scene, there was no way you could get the items you needed to fix the bush or the angel.
You are also supposed to show the hairy thinggy to another guy whose name I don't even remember. Slight problem: that guy was nowhere to be found.
So, I spent 50 minutes going back and forth through the first 3 scenes without going anywhere, without achieving anything, without progressing one bit.
To crown it all, hints are limited and totally useless. They make you turn in circles. You get get 20 hints at start, then on Scene 1 or 2 you get two more. But the game is so lame that you end up depleting all of them trying to figure out what to do next, because.... they make you run in circles.
As for the above mentioned minigame, it's just a matter of using trial and error to solve it. Not difficult, but totally idiotic.
I have no idea what the rest of the game is like, and, quite frankly I don't intend to find out. All I can say is that if it is like these first 50 minutes, then you're in for maximum frustration.
According to some reviews the foes are a gorilla and a giant spider. I don't care for either of them. That makes a plot totally ridiculous, even for a casual game.
To make things even worse, there is no walkthrough.
As for how some over-enthusiatic reviewers managed to progress in this game and got to the gorilla and spider bit is a mystery to me.
I have played many Nancy Drews. I have played Syberia 1 and 2, and these are tough, but 100 times much better crafted, and I didn't have any problems with them although they are complex, difficult and I never got stuck to the extent I was with Ashley
Apart from that, graphics are okay, dialogs are basic, and that about all that's positive.
That said:
- play the demo, see for yourself
- don't take the rave 5 star reviews for granted, because the game is NOT worth 5 stars (far from it).
My advice is:
- stay away from this game,
- use your hard earned money for far better games (there are quite a few on BFG that you''ll make you happy)
As for me, "Ashley" whatever the title is, is a definite no-buy
I don't recommend this game.

The game is roughly similar to the other two in the series, re-enacting the same unpleasant theme of death, souls, ghosts and supernatural.
If you like the morbid, this Grave is for definitely for you. I would have preferred something really new.
The developers, however, have made and attempt at making it all more acceptable by the introduction of bad boys that are supposed to be funny. This mixture of gruesomeness, time travel and 1920 Chicago gangsters turns out to be weird and rather fails to reach its goal.
Graphics are good and pleasant though not outstanding.
Tasks are simple, far too much to my taste, and so are the HO Scenes which in spite of being interactive are also very easy, a feature I do appreciate.
No true novelty in adbenture, the type of useful objects, their combination and their use.
The minigames can be solved by a 10 year old. Some, like the gunman chasing the stagecoach which even has an aura of ridicule about it, have nothing to do with the story.
The game is very linear with little backtracking and immediate use of the objects you get.
The intro and cutscenes are the best features of this game. They are small movies with real people, well-acted with good voice-over.
The story is not really entincing.
Quite frankly, it would have been better to have offered us a true gangster story without all that gloomy decorum, but I suppose that would have been more difficult to do.
I can only recommend this game to beginners, players who don't want to have to think much, and all fans of morbidity.
Whether you buy the CE or wait for the SE is entirely a matter of personnal choice after a highly suggested trial-time. As for me I played the first two in the series, had mixed feelings about them both and I definitely will skip this one.
I don't recommend this game.

It's a HOG and not much more than that with one HOS following another. Too many of them, and they are all equally bad, all of them junk piles filled up with tiny thinggies. Just click at random and you're done.
I quit after the third HOS, not even wanting to see what the announced minigames were like. I am not a HOG fan and this game won't turn me into one.
Graphics are sort of clear on the whole but look nothing like the interior of the Titanic. No real storyline, no adventure whatsoever, awful music, awful intro.
A total waste of time that I would not recommend even to a beginner.
