I haven't tried the previous one in the series but this sequel seems okay.
- good graphics and great cutscenes
- professional voice-overs
- easy minigames though neither new nor extraordinary
- some adventure but emphasis is placed on HO Scenes
- HO Scenes are the usual pile of junk, but are interactive
- tasks present no novelty either
- you earn achievements and collect some of the character's abilities
Considering the point I got to in the demo, the game is probably quite short.
All in all, not good enough for a CE. I am waiting for the SE to decide.
I recommend this game!

12 mns of the demo and I exited without a shade of remorse after being stuck in scene #1 trying to grab hold of a hook. The only actions available were moving a washing machine and running aimlessly around a caryatid...duh !
No way you can exit that scene and search elsewhere or do something interesting.
I quickly got tired of listening to the same repetitive oral comments -triggered by a hint system that doesn't help at all- and which are so perfectly idiotic that they quickly become extremely annoying, so I didn't persevere in my search.
There was no point anyway: how interesting is it to get a hook to retrieve a magnet that's lost in the water under the ice ?
As for the intoduction, it is also a masterpiece of stupidity. Two characters are babbling on endlessly, a talking mole and a dog that can't utter a word and only goes "grumpf, grumpf". In addition, this much too long monologue is utterly lame and a total bore. It is meant to be humorous, but I'm sorry to say it falls flat every second.
Even the crooked graphics reflect a patent lack of taste and are not even pleasant to the eye.
This game is a flop. Stay away from it.
I don't recommend this game.

I was bored by the demo and exited before the end. I am also skeptical about the storyline which I didn't find particularly exciting although it doesn't seem too bad at first sight.
There is nothing new or appealing in this game save the intro, the graphics which are very nice and the good cutscenes. The puzzles are easy, unchallenging and totally traditional.
It's supposed to be an adventure, but I spent my time playing cluttered HO Scenes full of objects that don't make sense and bear no relation with the storyline. Other than that it's a matter of going from one place to another, returning, going elsewhere to get one useful item or an object then another one, without any specific pre-determined order or consistency.
Another game that could have been interesting had it been conceived differently and above all well polished.
I don't recommend this game.

I got stuck on the second scene after 20 mns of play. At this point you have to place the bonus items in the yacht; so far so good. But nothing happens thereafter; no instructions, no object to find, no way you can exit the scene or do something else, no help from the hints; in other words no way you can progress.
This looks like a glitch and if it is I wonder whether the game has even been beta tested.
Whatever the case the game is not interesting. All it consisted in in those 20 mns was finding fragments of bonus objects, reconstituting three statuettes and playing minigames such as the Hanoi Tower [with 4 discs only] or shooting the trophy head of a wild boar that's not competely dead... duh !
No particular difficulty and no challenge whatsoever. The storyline is basic.
The intro is a comic stric and the graphics cartoonish, but that's okay. The music however is lame and annoying.
Glitchy or not this game has nothing to offer.
I don't recommend this game.

I exited the demo after 20 mns of pure boredom.
There is nothing exciting in this game. The storyline is soapy, the tasks are very basic, even silly and perfectly uninteresting, the only minigame I played was a jigsaw puzzle...[how original ! ], and of course you have HO Scenes that bear no relation with the story.
I didn't appreciate having to kill a poor mouse with a stone under the pretext the heroine is scared of them; not my idea of fun.
The visuals are okay but the intro and characters are very cartoonish and not even funny, some of them with a stupid look on their face.
This game may be seen as a family game, but there are many better ones around. Not worth it.
I don't recommend this game.

The storyline is simple and traditional. Your mission: escape a manor in which an evil spirit has trapped you and take Sarah [a ghost] with you.
Just as unsophisticated is the intro, although the voice-over isn't bad and sounds fairly natural.
The in-game music is soft and not unpleasant.
The graphics, though not exactly outstanding, are well drawn and nicely colored.
The game is more an adventure than a HOG as the emphasis is placed on tasks. These are all simple, unimaginative, similar to those you see in many other games such as.... fixing a broken bridge.
Most useful objects come in fragments scattered all over a scene; you need to find them and assemble them. There are not that many per scene and none present any real difficulty.
HO Scenes are few and far between, something much to my liking. They are a bit cluttered but neat enough for you to be able to spot the objects without trouble.
You can collect gold coins [which actually look like copper coins !], 4 per scene. Their purpose ? each set of coins gives you a photo of the location which is then stored on the map. The advantage is that this avoids backtracking as you can navigate from one locale to another just by clicking on the photos. However, collecting them is not compulsory as you can backtrack if you wish.
There is a total number of 28 locations to explore.
Hints recharge fast on the easier Mode and show you what to do next. However indications are a bit blurry so I had to keep my eyes peeled to see where I was being directed.
Puzzles and minigames are unimaginative, too, and not particularly challenging. There's no instruction but they can be skipped. I didn't see a Reset button.
Playtime is fairly long without rushing or skipping anything.
I also noted that gameplay was not fluid, even jerky at times, which is astonishing for a 125 MB game running on my Quad Core.
And something weird: in order to access the dungeon cell and then the grotto you have to go through....the first floor of the manor ! Huuuuh ???
This easy game is well suited to younger players or beginners, but may not satisfy seasoned players. In my opinion it is only worth between 3 and 3.5 stars. I suggest you try the demo and see how you like it. As for me, Curse at Twilight is not enthralling enough to be on my shopping list.
I recommend this game!

More or less in the same style as its predecessor "The Bride", The Lecacy takes us into another eerie world of ghosts and, this time, werewolves -at least that what the hero of the story comes to suspect. A wolf does appear several times in the cutscenes and the least that can be said is that he is not the friendly kind...
The intro is brief but well done. So is every cutscenes. The voice-overs sound very natrual and truly professional.
The in-game music, pleasant and atmospheric, is played at key times during the game without ever intruding.
The Legacy is not overloaded with HO Scenes and although each is populated to the brim, none are a true mess and HOs are on the whole easy to spot. Besides you can click as much as you like without penalty, at least on the easiest of the 3 Modes of difficulty [there is a harcore mode for the boldest players].
The Hint System which recharges fast, is very helpful, both with the HO Scenes and with giving directions as to what to do next.
The Useful Items are easy to find and use.
Objectives are clearly set and tasks are no hassle to perform. Their nature, for most of them, is similar to what you find in other games: switch lights on, repair ladder, unscrew plate, etc... But a few are original.
As further help, the map indicates the locations that are yet unexplored, those where there is still a task to accomplish [shown by a "!"; click on it to get a small window with a photo and the instructions] and the player's current location.
You access the map via the compass at the bottom right.
I didn't see any minigames as such, only 6 puzzles in Chapter 1; they are all easy and fairly classical; #2 is a slider with a twist, #3 and #5 are original, and I noted in #6 a picture taken from "The Bride". They are all fun to solve, can be skipped and reset [a plus].
I counted 17 locations [but there may be more]; their graphics are excellent, highly detailed, artistically crafted.
Like in all games of such nature, there is a fair amount of backtracking to do [that's part of the fun] although nothing is exaggerated in this sense.
The storyline is compelling and makes sense
I didn't see a widescreen option nor a journal.
Gamelength is decent as I completed Chapter 1 in 57 minutes on Casual Mode, not skipping anything.
I found the game too easy on Casual Mode, so I think it will be best played on medium difficulty or hardcore.
Although The Legacy doesn't bring anything new to the realm of HO/Adventure games, it is a pleasant experience and good fun which I, believe, deserves a 4.5 rating, rounded up to 5 as usual.
I recommend this game!

Kuros is one of the very first casual games I purchased and although many releases have seen the day since, it's still one of my favorites, one I replay with great pleasure.
A lot of work and imagination have resulted in a gripping adventure, without any HO Scenes, that offers not only many lovely minigames and clever puzzles, but also bright and colorful visuals of high quality, half of them borderline to surrealism.
It's a fantasy world not too easy to explore, but so different from today's "norm", devoid of anything morbid or gory, enchanting from start to finish.
Tasks are plentiful, novel, and always make sense, in line with a story that sparkles your interest right from the beginning.
Kuros is true escapism and surpasses a lot of new games which, by using always the same common artifacts, items and minigames differ from one another solely by how good the intro is
I recommend this game!

I must say I was pleasantly surprised by the top-notch quality of the intro movie, the professional acting and voice-overs, and I expected the rest of the game would be at the same level.
I was soon to lose my illusions. The game falls back immediately into the pure tradition of HOGs mixed with some amount of adventure and doesn't offer anything new or outsanding except for some clever minigames. I also thought there would be a lot of interactivity. Hard luck, it's not an interactive movie.
I also expected the visuals to be extraordinary. They're not. They are good but nothing more.
As usual the HO Scenes are cluttered with useless items but, on Casual Mode, you have plenty of hints and you can misclick as much as you like.
Tasks are similar to those we find in other games; you can't avoid the odd screwdriver, the bucket, the ladder and other items of like genre the use of which is obvious for those who are used to casual games.
I wasn't impressed by what I saw of the storyline; it, too, is classical, meant to be spooky but is actually weird. It's impossible to tell whether it unfolds well and makes sense until you have completed the whole game.
The SG is well conceived, complete, and lets you sneak peek into all its chapters [4 + the bonus]. In addition you earn achievements, have extra minigames in the CE and can modulate the overall difficulty.
Surface is good enough to be recommended and opting for the CE is mainly a matter of how much you value the extras. I am waiting for the SE.
I recommend this game!

An enchanting little fairy tale ideal for children and younger players set in a colorful fancy world inhabited by fairies, druids, unicorns and other legendary creatures.
It is not exactly a HOG even though there are a few HO Scenes with 4 or 5 items to find in each, but rather an adventure in which you interact with the different characters.
You lead the princess in 3rd person view through the world so that she can perform the tasks that are given in the diary. A map helps you find your bearings.
Tasks, minigames and interactivity are easy but good fun. The game is linear and you can set the level of difficulty in the Options.
Hints are given by a lovely little fairy and serve primarily to spot the hidden objects.
The graphics are nice, uncomplicated, full of lively colors, the challenge level is moderate and the music isn't bad at all.
Cute and refreshing, this adventure should ravish your progeny by its simplicity.
I recommend this game!
