I'd never heard of a picross game, so I was intrigued and downloaded the trial. I was immediately hooked and haven't been able to stop playing.
The object of the game is to click and turn over tiles in rows and columns according to the numbers that show how many tiles need to be flipped. The tutorial levels are excellent for showing you the ropes if you've never played a picross game before, but you can skip them if you want to get right to the meat of the game. I was really grateful for being able to skip the tutorial levels after I'd gone through the game once and wanted to play again in Expert mode.
As you advance through the levels you encounter small hidden object scenes that are pretty easy, and Tetris-like puzzles where you have to fit the dropping objects into a larger grid before time runs out. You gradually collect a few hint features you can use, such as being able to clear one row or column, clear five random tiles, or clear a block of nine tiles.
The first time I played the game I found myself using a hint with many screens--but that takes away a lot of the challenge and makes for a lazy brain! Now that I'm going through it again, I'm forcing myself not to use hints and it's much more fun. Even though it's slower going, the reward of thinking the puzzle through is so much greater when you don't use hints to complete it.
My husband, a fan of Solitaire and simple HOGs, absolutely LOVES this game. He keeps telling me how much he likes having his mind challenged this way because it keeps him sharp. And it keeps him BUSY, so I love the game, too! :-)
Download the trial and give it a go. It's a challenging game with a nice mix of picross, HOGs, and puzzles, with excellent replayability. I enjoyed this game so much that I went on Facebook and "liked" the designer's page so I could ask them to create a sequel or more games like it!
I love this game. The reviews were intriguing so I downloaded the trial and knew right away I had to buy it. I'm really tired of the same old dark and dreary HOGs, so this game was a welcome breath of fresh air!
The story is enchanting as you follow Patricia on her journey, and the writing conveys the real sense of wonder and curiosity that Patricia feels as she's exploring. I don't usually pay much attention to the storylines of games because I prefer to just jump into the action, but this story was so different it really drew me in.
Some people may be put off by lack of instructions, but it's pretty clear what you're supposed to do. The only real hint feature is a magic wand that you can use to place one tile correctly, but I used it only once just to see what it did. After you've been working with a picture for a while, little corners appear on the four corner pieces, so that's sort of a hint if you look for them.
The artwork is stunning and looks like acrylic paintings. The music is haunting and lovely, and the puzzles are quite challenging. I'm playing in Normal mode right now, but after I finish the game I'm going to go back and play the Difficult mode to see what the difference is.
If you like jigsaw puzzles, ethereal artwork, lovely music, and a charming storyline, and you appreciate the challenge of pieces that are all the same shape and size, then this is the game for you. It's a very, very welcome change from the standard fare that BigFish has been offering recently. Love BigFish, but I wish there were more diverse games. I love this game!

Maybe I'm jaded because this is an old game and there are so many wonderful hidden object games now, but this one is dreadful. The graphics are murky and blurry, some of the objects are unrecognizable, and the announcer's voice is SO ANNOYING that I just turned the sound down about five minutes into the game. I didn't like this game at all.

I was so excited when I saw the release of another in the Drawn series, because they are far the best games available on BigFish. This third installment doesn't stray at all from the winning formula of fantastic graphics, haunting and lovely music, great voice acting, and challenging puzzles. I thoroughly enjoyed playing it, and hope the developers will find a way to keep this franchise going (this one was like a prequel to the first in the series).
I don't understand why other people give a game bad reviews if they think it's too hard for them--that's not a problem with the game! (That's like saying a recipe for fried catfish is a bad recipe because you don't like catfish.) The Drawn games are wonderful exactly because they're challenging and require some thought to figure out.
The only negative comment I can make is that this game is MUCH shorter than I anticipated. It seemed to end really abruptly, like the developers were running out of time and just tacked on an ending. I bought it a couple of weeks ago but decided to wait until after Christmas to play it so I'd be able to immerse myself in it without distraction. Unfortunately I just couldn't wait because I was looking forward to it, so I started it a couple of nights ago--and then suddenly tonight it was over.
If the developers read these comments, I hope they see how many people have commented on the disappointing length of this game. Drawn is the best game on BigFish, hands down--but if you're able to find a way to continue the story and create new editions, please make them as long as the first Drawn! Other than that, this game is perfect.

I loved Roads of Rome I and II, so I was looking forward to this next game in the series. But about a third of the way through, I really got tired of all the fires. The red blobs of flame are distracting and make it hard to see where everything is to figure out your strategy. Still challenging, but not as much fun. I know they add a new dimension to the series, but it's a dimension that wears out its welcome quickly. I liked it, but not as much as the previous ones.

Drawn is unlike any other BigFish game. The artwork is striking, the music is lovely, and the story really draws you in. The puzzles are challenging and fun, and it's hard to stop playing. There's not a single negative thing to say about Drawn--it's by far my favorite BigFish game ever.

I'm a veteran BigFish gamer, and I LOVED this game. It's unique and different from anything else on the site. The artwork is lovely, the puzzles are challenging, and the fact that you're given no instructions whatsoever is wonderful. You have to find your own way through the game, and there is no "skip" button to let you cheat. I plan to put it out of my mind for a while and play it again. I wish they would release more games like this.
