I've passed this game up for years, since it looked bland, is older and got little or poor reviews and none at all on this "buy page". I just decided to trial it and see if it was as bad as eveyone said. After playing for 30 minutes, was surprised that I really liked it and added it to my buy list! But that's me, usually most games people don't like, I do. OK, it's not the latest CE, or a 1+Gig brain frying, walkthrough needed Adventure. What it IS though; Is a easy, relaxing, bright, and fun game! I like to play this level of game, in between a really hard one. Cleanse the ol' game/brain pallete. Or if I just want to veg out, and play something fun. A total guilty pleasure. Maybe some fish are playing it in secret, not admiting to? LOL! Plus the colors are really bright. No dark, dreary, or drab here! Though I love my "dark" games and CEs, if you want something lighter, both in dificulty and color..well.. this is it! With more people asking for them, maybe some have missed this one from the archives?
Mark and Mandi are dating, with the help of cupid. You click play and it spins through dating scenes to see which you'll play. There is also a "special" one in red. *wink* You need to help cupid help Mark and Mandi basically, stay together. Each date finds them having a very typical Male/Female point of view. I normally leave stories out of reviews, but since there are many dates..and no reviews here, I'm really not giving away huge spoilers here. I'll give you 2 examples. Such as; at a Museum, Mandi is enjoying it and all the history, while mark tells her he frankly finds it boring and only enjoyed the T-Rex exhibit, because he had a toy one as a kid. (Ahh OK I get it...Mark's an "A typical "martian" man.) He's not a bad guy.. just a bit dense in the romance department lol. However in fairness.. Mandi, has her own moments too; Complaining about ants, when poor Mark really tries, planning a romantic picnic. (OK so Mandi hails from Venus, got it! lol.)
This are some items to find, when you buy them and the more you do, the more puzzles you unlock. If your a HOG expert, you'll find the puzzles are quite easy (I did use a few hints, though!) and seen them in most HOGs. There are; Jigsaws, Spot the Difference (Another is a twist on that "Find things that are the same".), a match the pictures taken from a bigger one. I haven't finished it, only did 30 min Trial, so there are more I'm sure.
A word of caution, some say this game is for kids. I have to totaly disagree! I don't think it would be a good game for youngsters at all! Two adults having dating "disagreements" (even though its lightly done) may be disturbing for some..especially if they've been through parents seperating/divorce or have a single mom or dad that dates. The dialog and story, IMO, is just too adult.
As I always say "Curiousity killed the cat.. but at least it died satisfied!" lol. I'm sure it will have a happy ending.. but I'm curious enough to see how Mark and Mandi ends, to use a PCC. Then again I have oodles to use and running out of games. Since I found it fun, light and relaxing, I decided I might as well toss this one in my buy pile. I'm glad I finally tried it. I encourage other's to do so, espcially if you want a light, colorful, bright game. Even with the storylines subject matter, it was really poking fun and not the least bit depressing or boring as it's been made out to be.
I recommend this game, or at least try it and see if you like it. It just might surprise you as much as it did me!
Happy Gaming! ;~)
I recommend this game!

I just flew through the whole hour demo, and boy are my "'arms" tired! *BaDaDup* :p
I hate timer, pressured, fast games etc. They are all too stressful. I can never keep up, due to carpel tunnal and RA. I normally just play HOGs, but like something else to play not so story intensive, that I can come back to it, for a break in between long HOGs/HOPAs The first 5 minutes I almost clicked "exit". Next thing I know. Surprise! Yet again startled when the hour was up! Second game out to do that in 2 days. I'm glad I stuck it out, it is hard to get at first, but the graphics are great and the game play very addictive! It's a challange for sure, but not impossible by any means, as I think I'm the slowest player here!
If you like fast paced, you'll love it for sure! Though they may be easy if your an expert at them. I played 6-7 Missions and it hadn't spead up crazy fast. There is some thinking/planning ahead required and a few levels you need to think fast too.
I've never played a M3 like this one. You match up colored barrels, red, blue and green in vertical lines of 5 barrels, as they float by at a pretty good pace, getting loaded onto your ships cargo hold. Later levels have spaces for you to make the rows.
Each Mission has 3 levels, each level has a goal, like 10, 3Xs matches in a row.
Matches are: 3X in a row, 5X in a row, 2 5X rows of the same color connected make combos, Those are the basic goals/ways to match. One level had me make a shape, that was easy actually.
I played on Normal mode, not sure if you uncheck that box in options, if its harder or easier?
I sugest playing sound on, there is quiet warning if your barrels are close to docking (They shake too) and not matched with at least 3. If one gets by, they explode.. and I think you lose a life, but it didn't seem to be a big deal as you can keep retrying them and are given more lives. So they seemed pointless.
Get 2-3 stars and a high score in a mission opens bonus levels, where you plunder another Pirate ship, you earn more and other power ups. You can also replay the missions and there are tons of achivements to earn!! Was only "forced" to do 1 Mission over and 3 levels, just because I was learning.
There are power-ups, earned 2 ways. First pludering another pirate ship for things like unlimited lives!
In play some barrels have rings to turn a row gold when moved, no matter what colors they all are, or if locked. There are plenty of these to help.
There are also keys and lock barrels. Now this confused me as it wasn't explained well. The tutorial is automatic as you encounter different things like the rings and keys, but its a short explanation on a scroll and didn't help much. I was trying to drag the "key barrels, to the lock" I finally figured it out, you swap a key barral (to any spot) and you earn a key, shown on top with your lives. If you want to use a key to unlock a barrel (locked barrels can't be moved from the row, until unlocked) just click on the barrel, If you have a key, it unlocks it to swap. You get used to it the more you play.
Con's: There is no real help menu and very little explaining how to play the game. I was totally lost for about 30 minutes.
It's not timed, but it does require you to be quick swapping the barrels. This DOES get easier as you get used to it, coming from me, that's saying a lot as I have terrible hand disabilites and my eyes aren't great.
Pro's:
I LOVE the begining storyline and that it's a female pirate running for this "quest". (don't want to give too much away).
The graphics are very well done, clear sharp and I loved some of the other pirates I plundered from!
There is a wide screen mode and it does auto adjust, so no black bars here, or settings to adjust. Your PCs setting also go back to how you have then when you exit.
The music was fitting and I found myself humming along and it did not distract me.
It's fun, unique and not your typical "Cookie Cutter M3"
The Pirate theme and story was nice, not dialog heavy either.
There are TONS of Achievements to earn, and you can play any level over, after unlocking the unlimited mode very early in the game. Doing so also seems to open more Missions, like the other Pirate ships (I LOVED them!).
So from a "hand disabled/limited" slow poke, like me. This games one of the few games I'm willing to over look the fast pace, as it is so well done, beautiful clear BRIGHT graphics (No dark tale here) and once I got the hang of it, it was FUN! It's a big YES must buy for me! I only gave it 4 stars, because I'd like more dialog and a relaxed, or easy option.
I recommend you TRY this game first, it won't be for everyone. Do try to do the full hour if you can, or you won't really experience all it has to offer. I'm glad I did and didn't quit! Great game WTG Devs, high quality. I'll definatly buy, and hope there is a sequel.. but please included a slower more easy/relaxed option!
~Happy Gaming!~
I recommend this game!

Review based on demo. I would have NEVER in a million years thought to buy a game like this. I play mostly HOGs, RPGs adventure type games mainly. Then I tried M3, builders and other untimed games. Never an arcade game. Yet again BFGs has shown me there are other fun games, that I CAN actually play, that I normally wouldn't! I saw this on the front page, and after reading the reviews; I thought "OK, I'll try it, but I'll probably suck at it." Because I'm never good at arcade games... BUT this isn't one! This is no "Jump, Kill, Die Die Die.. Game Over" type that I'm used to well....failing.
I LOVED it, it's kind of a twist on a shooter marble popper, puzzle, knock um down carnival game with a wicked sense of humor! No stress, untimed, and as other's said it is a thinking game and VERY addictive! You can replay levels and its a good challange to get "gold" or in this case a crown, but by no means impossible or frustrating. I can see great replay value in this game. If you play a level over and over, you can find "the sweet spot", and knock all the evil clowns, cops and other energy drink addicted citizans out in 1-2 tennis balls. As you get to higher levels you have some help with some things like rolling barrels and other materials, that set off chain reactions, even thr bad guys themselves fly likr human bowling pins LOL it too fun to watch! I was so engrossed in playing, I was startled when the trial time was up! The hour flew by... for me, that makes it a must buy! I'm not a fast player, and I loved watching the people and things fly even after I won, replayed levels to unlock the bonus ones, so in an hour I never made it past the first stage of levels. This is a game I will go back to in between HOGs, M3s and Adventures, cuz you can pick up playing really, from anywhere in the game. It's like mental solitare with comedy and I did actually laugh out loud.
Give this game a try, I highly recommend it for all ages and levels of players. It's a hoot! I think this game is mislabeled, but it could be under Puzzle, Brain Teaser or Strategy..hard to say. I've never played anything like it! Bravo to the Dev's for coming up with a witty, funny, unique and very fun (did I mention addictive?) game!
I recommend this game!

Could someone please pass the salt? I'm about to eat some crow here. I have been on the "Oh no, not another one of THOSE games bandwagon" ever since the onslaught of them besieged BFG.
After reading a positive review of the game..that looked..umm .."right" (?) I decided to trial it.. and as many know, I dislike trialing games. Feels like peeking at my Christmas presents and am picky about installing/un-installing.. then defraging and cleaning registry and junk files it leaves behind etc etc..however..
The game is not all THAT bad. I wouldn't pay full price, or even use a PCC, but as a DD.. I think it is worth it to some players. Why?
1. I don't see this as a beginner's game at all. I think most people new to HOGs would have no clue what to do. There is a pretty good tutorial at the beginning of the game and for all Mini-games and puzzles too.
2. The HO scenes are quite challenging, I was able to find most of the objects, I think due to the fact that I have played enough HOGs I know most of the blending and hiding tricks. I only used a few hints and with stars to earn more and the Mini's giving you 2 stars each you have plenty to help you. (My only complaint is we are limited to having 6 total and to use them we have to wait for the hint bar to refill. Normally that is only in games where hints are unlimited, not earned) Minis so far were ones I like Jigsaw and Match 3, fun and relaxing if you just read the short instructions. There are 2 modes, timed and untimed, and its set up to let you beat your time in each mode. So that offers some more of a challenge and replayability.
3 There is invrntory items in the game, and places to use them. They are highlighted (in untined mode anyway) when you finish a HOS, so too easy, yet welcomed when I ended the scene. You do have to figure out where to use the items later on as you go, so iy does have a HOPA lite feel.
3 The Music was OK, rather soothing at a low level actualy. The only sound that bothered me was the occational ticking clock, made me feel like there was a timer, when I played it untimed. But only in a few rooms.
4 The graphics were OK, a blend of real and cartoon, I liked them and have seen much much worse! This game is definatly better than the first Hdo I tried! (I only remember finding lipsticks in a dark night club, don't recall the title) Would have been nice to have had actual drawn characters instead of silliouettes.. but it didn't take away anything in the storyline. Lazy yes, but I was focused on the reading anyway, and they did add names to them at least.
5 Speaking of that.. yes there IS a storyline here. Is it awesome? no. But, there is one. More than I can say for some other well selling straight HOGs. So if you dislike dialog and reading you won't like this game. For me, thats almost always a must have..and just like books, I'll read anything, so I want to finish the story. It's peaked my interest anyway I'd rate the story a 5-6 on a scale of 1-10.
No bugs or problems, the game ran smooth no lag. I'm seeing more of these as DDs, so my advice is give it a try and for the full hour, not just a few minutes, because you really don't get into playing yet in that short of time. You just might like this one and others by them. Surprised me, and I loathed one I played, but then again only demo'd a few minutes. If its a story ot theme you like.. try one..as a DD anyway. It's a good game to play in between CEs, which also we didn;t have as many when HdO first came out, so there is a need for those "brain palette cleasing" games..maybe these will at least fill that need.
I recommend this game!

If you like spooky, dark and long games..this ones for you! I loved every minutes of it! Remedied me of Redrum and The Haunted Halls series, I loved them and this one is even better!
The most important thing I wanted to leave a review about is the Bonus Chapter. I wish more people would so I know to buy CE or SE as I usually wait for the CE sales and buy a bunch then, unless its a series I have to have the day it comes out.
HO Scenes have some interactive items, Junkpile ish, but fits in with the area you click on and the era.
Mini-Games have a lot of unique ones, a few common one, some are quite challenging, especially in the bonus game. (There is a repeat sequence in bonus game, I hate them but unlike most random answers, this one solves in in the SG! Thank you!!) You will def need the SG to get all the achievements badges IMO. I consider myself an expert and used it about 8 times.
For me the game took almost 7 hours total according to the score list. However I played it over 2 days, thats just my style.I take smoke/food/medicine breaks. I read everything, try for all the badges and stop to enjoy all the scenes along the way. This is my first game to play with NO hints or skips and it was a perfect one to make that challenge to myself!
No doubt this game was sooooooo worth the CE cost..I even had the SE from a sale.. took a chance with the latest BOGO sale and I'm glad I did! The achievements made for a great challenge, one is to get the highest score so that offers a replay factor (you can replay the Mini-Games too to get faster at them for the high score badge) and with 20 postcards to find to as well it all made the game waaay longer than the SE!.
There is a ending if you buy the SE.. BUT it doesn't leave you with any storyline for the sequel like in the Bonus Chapter. I would have missed out on that for sure. If there is a to be continued ending, I want to see how one flows into the next game and not miss a thing storywise.
Also for me the Bonus Chapter was very very long, (I think almost 2 hours of my game play was the Bonus Chapter alone) its full of Mini-Games and HOGs and lots of new places. So with a to be continued storyline thats not in the SE, tons of new content, 20 items to find, badges and one of the longest Bonus Chapters I've played after 50 CEs this game is 100% CE worthy!
Happy Gaming!
I recommend this game!

This game got me hooked on M3s. I was a RPG player for years, then HOGs, now M3s too. This game combines them all in 1! I hope when they do the sequel they keep the RPG factor in and perhaps a little more challenging. No timer, great story, graphics etc. Try this game, you'll love it! It's one of my top 10 fav of ALL time and years as a gamer.
