Excellent "old-fashioned" rpg - great to see the original series 1-4 combined into the one game and still available for interested gamers on Bigfish Games. Thank you :)
Engaging characters, interesting and relevant storyline and really funny dialogue. Battles are suitably challenging and levelling up to get different skills and magic is a lot of fun.
One slight downside for me was the slooow character movement but I found if I pulled on my Zen, I went with the slower exploration pace.

I very much enjoyed the first HotK - and this second one continues the good work. I see it as more an adventure than strategy game. As other reviewers have said, it is an unusual mix between hidden (tiny) objects in beautifully detailed scenes and a point and click adventure gathering resources, fighting enemies and following a story. It's actually very different from many other games around - and as such is a lovely surprise. I enjoy trying to find all the tiny objects but I could see where it could end up be frustrating for others. However, if you enjoy an adventure and have an eye for detail, do give it a go!!

I enjoyed this game immensely and found it difficult to stop. It reminded me of the Island Castaways series as other people have said, or Wandering Willows, or The Fool. There are not many games like these (no - not Time Management - more Adventure/Strategy) but when you run across them it is GREAT!! The story line was good, the production was excellent (yes, yes, the figures/eggs/mushrooms are all very tiny but I just saw this as a challenge and part of the fun to squint and find everything I could. I nearly managed it...but not quite - so I'll be back :) Very clever to develop the story and resources linked to the skills you learn over time - and how you go back over earlier areas to find you can pick up more "stuff". Love it!!
I recommend this game!

I am writing this as no one else has submitted a review as yet so I thought someone better. This game has many good ideas but never quite makes it. The storyline with 3 siblings is great - each character is different and brings their own skills, personalities, issues and drawbacks. You play each one individually and then they join together to make your more familiar RPG team. The look is also the familiar retro RPG we know from Aveyond and others. The monsters are varied and challenging...sometimes too challenging! If you do beat them, it is set up to be not rewarding enough - it will take you forever to earn any decent money. With the high grade equipment costing $1000s - highly frustrating!! (I should have read the Forum entries before I bought as some of these points are made by players there). This reduced the fun factor considerably for me as it became waaaaay too hard to get anywhere and complete quests and also extremely tedious - play, die, play, die badly, re-group, revive, play, win - and then get 30c - or nothing except EXP points! Some players say there is a "patch" to fix this issue but you need to download from the developer's website (Exodus Studios) but when I went looking, they were nowhere to be found. :( I also "felt" that the character movement was awkward and "sticky" compared to playing similar games - I use a mouse and found characters had a tendency to go in jerky linear "blocks". Okay the more I write the worse it's sounding. It really does have some good points but probably not enough to warrant buying. Such a pity...
I don't recommend this game.

I have recently been discovering the joys of RPG (e.g. Aveyond series, Skyborn, Fated Haven, Sylia) and having such a good time!! But I have found at times that I get a bit overwhelmed with the scope and extent of an adventure - and my interest and stamina wanes. With Ella's Hope I have been particularly enjoying going through a series of quests (with a number of side quests in each one) towards an ultimate goal which somehow feels more "digestible" and doable. EH has a good story line, interesting and diverse characters, and plenty to do and explore.
I recommend this game!

This was one of my first RPG and I had such a great time! It combined all the good things about gaming I love with engaging heroes and suitably complex villains, an interesting story with quests, lots of challenges (thank you to my Forum buddies for the help!), excellent graphics and sound, etc.
One of the main reasons I have tended to steer clear of the RPG is that they always seem to involve lots of fighting/battles. I usually don't like battles/fights (as I'm not very good at them and end up dying a lot so not getting very far) but in this one I could set the difficulty level, save at optimum power, and then give it a bash! Died a few times but mostly won and was able to finish the game feeling very satisfied and clever.
I would recommend this game highly. :)

Really enjoyed this game - amusing characters, excellent range and variety of puzzles, good voice acting, etc. A little bit different from other games in this genre and well worth a look. Only down side for me was it is a bit on the short side.
Current Favourite Game - The Book of Unwritten Tales. Similar to Munchausen but longer and a bit more challenging - unfortunately not available as yet via BigFish Games.
