As I read through the reviews, it was difficult to judge whether or not these games were worth the price. Everyone seemed so eager not only to pat Elephant Games on the back, but also to convince everyone reading their reviews that these were games that they absolutely ought to buy. Everyone's review agreed with the one before it. I also noticed that a great many of the reviews were written by Big Fish's top reviewers. Curious. I seem to be the only one not bubbling over with enthusiasm.
First of all, I was thinking that "A Christmas Carol" might be an HOG version of Dickens' classic story. I was wrong. The game was a cartoonish offering BASED on the Dickens tale. And, while "Nutcracker" was a considerably better game, with exceptional art and graphics and lovely background music, I was NOT convinced that I needed to waste $13.95 on the Scrooge game, which in my opinion, was nothing to write home about. For me, the Demo was dull, and not my cup of tea. I love this particular Dickens tale, and was disappointed to find this game, with it's cutesy, Kitty Cat narrator, seemed to be aimed at a younger target audience - 9 to 14 year olds - rather than adults. For the time being, I've decided to NOT take advantage of this holiday assortment. If I was able to buy "Nutcracker" without the Scrooge game, I might then be interested.
I don't recommend this game.

Usually, I prefer a good, spooky HOG to something sweetly roamantic, but it was the time period in which this one was set, that lured me. It is set on 1941 in Pearl Harbor, HI, and this is one of my favorite eras in history. I took a chance, and played the Demo, but stopped halfway through the trial to buy the game. It was THAT food. I like the characters, the beautiful graphics, the story, even the little vixen who is determined to keep Kathrine away from the handsome young man she wants for herself! The background music is subtle, and isn't distracting. The Sound EFX were very good, and not too loud, and the art was wonderful. I DO recommend this one for anyone who is a romantic softie like myself! I played it straight through to the end, and never lost interest. This one is well worth the price!
I recommend this game!

I played this one straight through, from start to finish, in a single sitting. That's how good it was. I liked everything about it; the deserted town, the eerie story, the threat of the helicopter that keeps circling the town, and the creepy guy wearing the the gas mask, who turns out to be --- well, that would be giving away an important, and surprising part of the ending. This was well worth the $6.99!
I recommend this game!

I shouldn't have bothered downloading this one. I should have read the reviews first. Like most of the people who posted before me, I don't like timers. I like to relax and get into the story and the game. An old fashioned HOG might be okay to pass the tiem if you are riding the bus or sitting in a dentist's office awaiting your turn, but the straight HOG has long ago gone out of style. I want a good story, with interesting characters to hold my attention. Without a good story, there's really no reason to play. Lose the timer and give us a story next time!
I don't recommend this game.
